Vibes were awesome. Everybody is dressed up in silly and cool Halloween costumes. Drink prices are what you would expect for an EDM festival. The merchandise booth had plenty of cool things to pick from at reasonable prices. They do a very good job making sure there's plenty of space to dance at the two smaller stages. Mainstage can get quite crowded but I honestly have no idea where else they would put it. Disco Donnie is doing great things for the Texas EDM scene. Really happy that we have three affordable EDM festivals in Texas each year (Sun City, Something Wicked, Something Wonderful). Please book Seven Lions next year!!!

Something Wicked...how have I not heard of you until your third year of existence?! Ah, what an…read moreexperience! First off, do not try to compare SW to a massive festival...because it isn't one. I've gone and danced to my heart's content with hundreds of thousands at a massive before, and here, at SW, I've danced the weekend away with thousands. It's completely different. If you take it for what it is though, SW is legit and I could not have asked for a better experience from a smaller scale festival. I've heard that the festival has gotten better and better every year. Let's recap the deets from this year: -Perfectly sized venue!! The race park was small enough to where it only took about 5 min to get from stage to stage but big enough to where you ALWAYS had room to dance, sit, or wander without being crowded. The crowd was respectful of personal space, and this always makes a world of a difference! -Security lines getting through depend on what time you arrive. On day 1, we got there around 4:30, and it probably took about 30 min to get through. Day 2 was more lax and only took about 10 min. General rule of thumb: the earlier you arrive, the less the wait. -Cleanest port-a-potties I've seen anywhere! -3 stages with stacked lineups. P.S. Shout out and a big thank you from yours truly for the TRANCE STAGE! ANDREW RAYEL BLEW MY MIND. I digress. -18+ and they swipe IDs. I'd prefer 21+ but let's be realistic- that's not happening for the sake of ticket sales. It was mostly a 20something crowd, but I saw people of all ages. At one point, I was dancing next to a 50 or 60something year old. -Quick, free water filling stations. -Quick alcohol and food lines. -Beautiful lighting and lasers at night. I especially loved how the all the trees lit up! -The only two things that I can think of that SW could improve upon is adding more Halloween themed decorations and lighting up the port-a-potty areas at night so that it's not pitch black when you go inside. I came to Something Wicked with some of my TomorrowWorld family and my group started out with a little over a handful of people. Throughout the weekend, I danced, skipped, and hi-fived my way from stage to stage and met new friends along the way. By the end of Sunday night, I was participating in a group hug of about 20 people as we said our "until next times."

This review is for their performance in Houston…read more If you've been to other Cirque Du Soleil in the race park before then you know that there's no way around paying for parking. It will cost you $12 to park. The good thing about the parking is it was super organized so even though there were long lines of cars trying to park, the lines were moving; and once I had paid, the attendees directed me where to go and it took me less than a minute to park. Before you can enter the Grand Chapiteau, you have to go through your typical security measure. There are no metal detectors but they will look inside your purse if you have one. I was here with my sister and she didn't have a purse so we didn't even get checked. She did have a jacket on her but they didn't check it. This means you could sneak in your own snacks/drinks should you be inclined to. Why would one be inclined to sneak in their own snacks/drinks? Well, a bottled water/soda will run you $5. Nachos will run you $10. A Cotton candy will run you $8. Hot dog will run you $7. You see where I'm going with this? If you're coming here with your family (kids, wife, girlfriend, whatever), then you be better be ready to be dropping some $$$$. As for the show, it's your typical CDS stage/seating. You have the round stage with the seats surrounding them. I was lucky enough to get good seats to the right side and three rows from the stage so I was able to see everything clearly. If you opt to sit toward the back, some times you can't even see the faces of the performers clearly. The show started at eight on the dot. Some of the performances are pretty typical CDS where it would amaze you what a human body can do with training (contortionist, balancing act, juggling). Some of the other acts were more creative (invisible circus, finger dancing, animal impression). One act in particular was a combination of both where you have this dude playing yo-yo in the middle of the stage, but holy cow, he could control them yo-yos like they were a part of his body. I felt like he should have been competing in international yo-yo championship or something. All in all, I was happy with the show. This was also my sister's first Cirque Du Soleil and so everything was brand new to her and she was thoroughly impressed with the performances. CDS is always a fun event to go to and I definitely will go to whatever other Cirque Du Soleil shows that would make a stop in Houston.

Houston parking was $12; I parked the furthest away and still it wasn't far from the tent. I was concerned that the AC might not be working from a heads up review 4 days earlier...but, thankfully the AC was on and blowing good!! Toilets looked like porta pottys but they actually had lights and hooks to hang your purse---speaking of...I walked in the stall and there hung a yellow bag and a Kurios souvenir! I was like...HOW can one forget ALL that? Turned it in to an employee...hope the lady got her stuff back. The seats are small and very close together...I chose an end seat so I'd only have one person beside me. My seats were stage right 8 rows back...awesome! Show was exciting...as usual, I was amazed. Do yourself a favor and attend a Cirque de Soleil soon...it's well worth the $$$

From your typical pancakes and waffles etc. to stuffed chicken with season rice and more. An array of desserts, salads and fruits. Drinks are reasonably priced averaging $9-$12. Service is decent considering size of venue. Regular drinks, sodas and teas were included for the $45 ticket. For some reason the races mostly started away from us which was a little disappointing but overall loved the experience. They also have a special area for kids on Sundays this month only $5 with face painting, play areas, petting zoo and more.

Hidden gem in Houston - what a fun getaway from the city! Spent a couple of hours here on a…read moresurprise date. $7 for admission that I paid online in advance for ($14 for two people). Parking was plentiful since it was a huge lot. The venue itself is quite big - multiple floors and wide in length. There were lots of tables with individual monitors with horse races streaming from different regions of the U.S, along with lots of TVs by the food court area. Plenty of people just watching the different races streamed on the TV happily. Betting takes place on the kiosks spread throughout the building. There's a variety of methods to bet, but easily thing to do is take a picture of the screen and have ChatGPT explain it to you lol since it's a lot of information to digest if you're a first timer. Betting is minimum $2 to start. The nachos were cheap and filling - $10 for a spread shared among two people. Plenty of cheap food available. Now for the actual racing, there was a lot of seating (albeit, they were not labeled). We actually sat in the paid, reserved seating with the TV monitors (which was quite nice, since you could see the camera following the horses racing outside on the track up close), until we were kicked out since we could show the ticket narc our tickets. We relocated to a different seating area next to it, and again after a few rounds, we were ticket-checked again and had to move. Finally, we discovered the free seating, which is at the very end on the left side of the building, with the auditorium-like seats (furthest from the fancy restaurant they have). It wasn't terrible, and we spent most of the time at the paid seating anyways. Would recommend better signage because as newbies to the horse racing venue, we didn't know any better. A lot of friend groups, families, singles, all gathered to watch the horse racing, and TBH, I got pretty into it once I started betting (rabbit hole?), so it was quite fun. There was even a hat contest that was cute to watch! I'd come back! It was a unique way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
