John, I read your review. What irony, to start off your post sounds political. Religion is, and has…read morebeen political since its inception. Jesus Christ was the radical of the day and as our Christian Judaeo was formed we have always been a people of change which means poking the bears of government and its leaders on both side. I pray we don't let change get confused with the political climate formed in recent years by both the established parties. Let's work together to make positive changes for the betterment of our great nation. I respect your right to express your opinion, in fact I've never written any review at all, but your review stimulated these thoughts; a good think. I have found the First Methodist is a good church, a well intentioned church, with good people and leaders. The messages from the pulpit have been direct and on point, and I feel inspired by God. Pastor Nixon seems to be delivering messages of an "awakening " theme. It a hard to hear the truth sometimes. First Methodist is not a prefect church, which one really is... it is, however a historical church with an awesome musical, homeless, mission trip and outreach programs that are serving Houston and the world. Hey John, just my opinion, I'm just a "sit-in-the-back-pew" member. I would say, I love attending First Methodist, if only for an hour on a Sunday. Peace my brother.

It is great to see a vital, friendly, growing community in the center of Houston who understand their call to the local community. They offer a traditional service and an alternative contemporary/modern venue. Both are outstanding examples of an approach to reach out to their community, be inclusive to all ages, ethnicities and Christian and non-Christian experiences. As an aside, John A.'s review was incomplete; they have not rewritten the Apostles Creed but will "resist the powers evil in the world" as part of Baptismal vows which includes the social justice charge against evil, injustice and oppression based Scripture and the UMC social principles teachings.

We started at DSA last year and we are very happy with DSA. We have one in high school and one in…read moremiddle school. A good school starts with strong leadership and the elementary/middle/high school principals are strong leaders. We like that DSA teaches accountability, among other things, which is generally lacking in society these days. Perhaps in part because they are part of a network of several other DS schools, they seem very well structured in all aspects, including communication with parents, curriculum, and school operations. While they are small (but growing), they function as well as or better than a larger school. The homework load seems very well balanced, especially compared to their previous school. The teachers are excellent and everyone is very nice. The students are good kids and we've been impressed with the behavior and politeness of our kids' friends. The parents we have met are very nice with similar family values. We hoped we would find a community, and we have made new friends with othe families through our kids and their friends. Despite the small size, the school offers several sports programs, including football and volleyball, and is very competitive against schools that are much larger. They built a new middle/high school building last year and it is a top class facility. Great gym, big, modern classrooms, great courtyard, multipurpose chapel, and more. Tuition remains very reasonable in comparison to other private schools in the Houston area, especially considering the low teacher:student ratio.

As our youngest, Garrett, journey at DSA still continues, we reflect with heartfelt appreciation on the incredible personal and spiritual growth our family and he has experienced. From 1st grade through 8th grade, he has deepened his understanding of himself and his faith in God. The school's nurturing family atmosphere, along with its dedicated and compassionate teachers, administrators, and staff, has been a true blessing. In addition to being a parent, I have had the privilege of working at DSA, alongside remarkable students and colleagues whose kindness and dedication have left a lasting impact. It has been an honor to witness and be part of the school's extraordinary growth, transformation, and commitment to excellence--structurally, spiritually, and educationally. May God continue to guide, protect, and bless everyone who enters its doors and guide the school's continued growth for years and generations to come.

Cream of the Crop Learning Center - His teacher said he scraped his skin off himself with his own fingers

My son started attending cream of the crop learning center in late September of 2020. I was…read moreparticularly interested because of a few reasons first was they were a Christian based learning center, second they were close to my home. On his first day I was never introduced to his teacher or ever seen his classroom. In the morning you drive up and an employee there gets the child out the car and takes him inside then when picking up we call when on the way they get the child ready and you meet them at the door and you put your child in the car. The ladies doing the drop off and pick ups are not the teachers in order to find out who his teacher was I had to ask one of them they just said her name and what she looked like. When he started he was a little over 18 months old so he was in the roo class and was sent him with a "cuddle gram" basically a paper saying what he ate and how many diaper changes he had as well as his nap time. Breakfast was always Cheerios & snacks were always crackers not at all fulfilling the only meal fulfilling was lunch which was usually chicken gravy a fruit and veggie or something similar and on fridays the parent brings the child's lunch. His first 3 days he cried as expected for his first time ever attending daycare as the time went on it got better he stopped crying at drop off and was excited to be picked up he would run to me smiling and with open arms at pick up time. If there was ever an incident they would provide a paper saying what happened and you sign it while he was in the roo class that happened a few times not a whole bunch then comes when he moved classes to Disney class 2 year olds and with teacher Haley Farmer who again I had to ask to meet and ask how the day was structured. In her class there was 9 kids including him however in previous class there was 5 with Ms.Gina and Haley was giving me incident reports every week sometimes multiple times a week of him being bit, or hit with a toy sometimes I would just see bite marks but not even be informed of them I complained and sent her a message she said she would look into it. Then he was hit so hard on his face with a toy it left a Mark for days I complained, he came up with a soaking wet pamper I complained, two times he was not cleaned right after changing his diaper and I also complained I started asking more questions then on a Wednesday Lydia the director calls me and says he has had behavioral problems and he bit the teacher and I had no clue ! I messaged the teacher apologizing saying I would work with him and she never replied to me but before she always would so that was strange. all this was news to me because every or most incidents prior to this he was the one being bullied not the aggressor but now she says it is him. Then Lydia calls me at 11:13 a Thursday and says he has to be picked up they can no longer care for him she said he pulled a kids hair, chocked him, and head bunted him and says she has a video of it and I ask to see if the video and she never provided it to me said she had to get owners approval I still have yet to see the video. When I arrived to pick him up he was not in the office like she claimed she was actually napping and he was awoken from his nap to be sent home.I believe they kicked him out because I was complaining too much and I've transferred him to another daycare "Star Montessori" and his teacher said he hasn't been aggressive at all just hyper I don't claim he's an angel I know he throws tantrums but he's 2 and learning he doesn't bite or hit at home so that was far fetched to me. My husband kept urging me to change hum to another because along with all this since he was moved to another class he cried everyday at drop off and would be starving when he was picked up. I had to have a snack for him as soon as I got him in the car because he would be asking over and over for "snack" or "milk" I truly believe they didn't feed him or the children enough and not at all once while he was there did he come up with any type of biblical art work or teachings it was a lot of coloring and painting but they claim to be faith based but that is just a front in my opinion and I personally see this as a blessing and if it was meant for him to attend there he would still but God knows what's best for me and my family so I glorify him in it all it probably saved my son a lot of pain and suffering. If they can not keep supervision of 5-9 kids in a classroom biting my child hitting him or him scraping his finger then they need to re- evaluate their staff because that is just poorly done.

Absolutely adore this daycare. My littles love it here and enjoy coming to school.read more
