An absolutely top notch experience from the first time I called! It has been several years since I have gone diving and prior to our upcoming dive trip I reached out to Texan Scuba about the option for a Refresher course and dive. Dustin Ainsworth answered my first call, presented a solution and worked with us to get my husband and me in for a refresher class and dive in a timely fashion. Morgan was our Divemaster and she was INCREDIBLY patient, reassuring, fun and professional. Exactly what I needed! She is excellent! I can't say enough about how prompt, professional and perfect the entire team at Texas Scuba at Blue Lagoon was to work with! I HIGHLY recommend the refresher courses, check off dives and/or full certification courses. In addition to our superior experience, our daughter was supposed to come with her scuba class at TAMU and at the last minute the divemaster in College Station that was going to join the class needed to cancel. I reached out to Dustin and he reached out to his top notch team and they were able to get three of the students in so they could complete their full certification as they had hoped. If I could I will never recommend this place for family, maybe for divers is great but the staff is super rude saying you can't stay in the property, there is no space and you can't walk around just to meet the place, reminding every minute you need to leave the property definitely the beauty is lost by the terrible staff behavior Rose is her name by the way !!!! read more

My husband and I took their weekend Open Water Diver Certification course this past weekend, and everything was great. Great teachers, great staff, great facilities. We stayed on-site over the weekend, and their cabin bunk beds and restrooms/showers were more than suffice. Clean, comfortable, quiet. The night sky is amazing! The owner even hosted a great dinner on Saturday. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. It was an awesome experience, and we definitely recommend taking classes here. We will definitely be going to Blue Lagoon in the future to keep practicing our diving skills. read more

My wife and I recently completed our Rescue Diver Course with Texan Scuba at the Blue Lagoon. We had an amazing weekend and learned more than I could have ever imagined. The staff was incredibly professional and knowledgeable, but we also managed to have a lot of fun while learning. Very disappointed in the professionalism of this business. We had been trying to visit for weeks but sadly weather didn't permit. We finally found a day with forecast of sunny skies and headed down after hearing about this cool swimming hole. We arrived and were asked to pay $25/person so $50 in total. We headed down the steep drive path for the Off Nude beach (which is a very rough drive, messed up my rims and scratching my car) we weren't there 10 minutes when thunder clouds rolled in so we had to turn back so we didn't get stuck in mud. We got back to the front office and the lady greeted up with an insincere apology and mentioned that they do not refund due to weather. While this is understandable for people who had atleast 20 mins to enjoy the area we didn't have a single chance to enjoy the lake since being there 10 mins but the lady refused us even a raincheck. Apparently this woman was the owner of the establishment and honestly we felt as if they had stolen our $50. We tried to reason with the lady since they had proof we had just arrived but the lady refused. Many people have asked where this place is and the name but sadly I won't give the information since we had been taken advantage of. So sad people choose to capitalize off of nature. You would be better off taking your money on the road to Austin for a similar experience read more

My experience was horrible. For the first time in my life I experienced fear of the water. Brian was my instructor. He didn't want to waste time in the classroom or in confined water to go over questions because the "lagoon is more fun." Probably would have been for me too if I had not experience problems and if I had been a member of the "A" Team. The class was too big for the size pool they have for the confined water. And there was no time to help those of us who didn't quite get everything on the first try. I came away with a fear of the water I've never had before, a feeling of failure and that there was something wrong with me, and a Scuba Diver certification that didn't qualify me for as much as a 12 year old Open Water diver. I tried to reschedule a time with Brian to finish my Open Water and he emailed back that he was still trying to "figure out how to help me". To this day, he has not contacted me again. I'd think twice about going to this facility unless you are among the beautiful people or want to be constantly told what scuba equipment you need to buy. FYI I just completed my Open Water with Davis Graham and his folks at the Texas Dive Center (truly a 5-Star facility) in Houston. No sales pressure, although I didn't buy some things I wanted, and they are the most patient and informative folks. I'm going to practice my new Open Water Dive skills in Jamaica in December thanks to Davis and his team. read more

Great instuctors at Texan Scuba, especially Bryan. They instructed a class that certified my 19 year old daughter and a few of her friends. They had a great time, but from what I personally saw, they take no shortcuts and make sure they certify you only if you meet all the standards and criteria. I'm taking my wife to them from Fort Worth for a refresher course next month. And planning to book a trip with them to Cozumel. read more

My fiance and I had such a great experience getting scuba certified with Texan Scuba. We did an intense weekend to get certified and it was a blast. The instructors, Brian and Chuck, are so hands on and make sure you know the techniques and skills extremely well so that you feel confident and safe when moving from the pool to the lagoon. It was a group of about 7 students and they made it feel very individualized. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time and felt ready to scuba dive. I just completed my OW dive certification. John Brandt was my instructor. Assisting him was Brian and Chuck. I had wanted to scuba dive for so long (I'm in my 50's). I took PADI's e-course online and then over one weekend completed all the dive requirements at Texan Scuba in Huntsville. I don't have experience with any other dive shops, but I'd say look no further... these guys are INCREDIBLE... thorough, helpful, patient, funny... and it was great that they freely shared their own tips learned from years of diving experience. You begin on a Friday (and for me I was a bit nervous)... by Sunday I had developed confidence and felt I was ready to go. I am writing this review for all senior citizens who would like to learn to scuba dive. My son, a scuba diver, did extensive research to find the best place for me, a 73-year old man, to take scuba lessons. He suggested Texan Scuba at the Blue Lagoon because of their excellent reputation, and that the lessons would be conducted over a three day period at the same location. Before you begin the open water certification process, you'll have to complete the online PADI course and tests. Sheila Shelton was my instructor. She had eight students, of which I was the oldest. She is an excellent instructor. She explained and demonstrated the tasks and why they were important. She was patient and made us feel good even though some of us messed up. All of us had problems at sometime but we worked through them. She had two assistants (Pat & Mark who were certified) who helped all of us at one time or another. Safety was the main concern of the instructor and assistants. When I had trouble equalizing my ears on the first dive, Mark was assigned to be with me on the second and third dives. Even though I was okay on the second dive, Mark followed me on the third dive. I highly recommend Texan Scuba at the Blue Lagoon for both the young and old. The training was both intense and fun at the same time. For those who do not live in the area, they have a free bunkhouse where you can stay or there are many local motels. read more
