Really cute place on the water by the bridges. We had a great time and wanted to stop off for some drinks and nachos to share before heading back on the bus then train back to where we were staying after our day trip out there. The nachos were okay. I got orange wine out of curiosity but it wasn't anything exceptional worth ordering. Bf's sister ordered something fizzy with elderberry in a wine glass that was pretty yummy and bf got a beer or cider that wasn't bad. Very cute place with the water view. Dog friendly. Highly recommended.

Super chill local pub right on the water with nice views. It was cold and rainy the day I was here so it was a nice stop for a great lunch. Met some nice local guys who took the time to explain the cricket game on the TV. Now for the food... OMG... the freshest fish. Fish & Chips was fabulous and a Huge plate. Calamari was just caught and fried.... Absolutely to die for. Accompanied by a Thistly Cross which is a dry cider aged in a whiskey barrel. Very different, very good and not sweet. My type of cider!

Located right along the water in Leith, Teuchters Landing is a sloppy pub with grimy indoor and outdoor seating, offering a menu of bar bites and Scottish dishes. Ordering and payment are done via QR code, and everything was brought out quickly to our table. The Fish Board came with a collection of local preserved fish including cold and hot smoked salmon, an Orkney herring fillet, and my favorite, a smoked mackerel pate, which had a nice meaty texture and salty flavor. The board also came with a creamy caper & chive tattie (potato) salad, cornichons, cherry tomatoes, bread, and oatcakes. We also got the Big Tasty Summer Salad, made of greens in a lemon and Dijon dressing, along with cherry tomatoes, shredded mozzarella, herb croutons, and two soft-boiled eggs. Overall, the food here was surprisingly tasty and nicely presented for such a casual bar and restaurant, though the cleanliness could have been improved.

This place was recommended to us by our food tour guide in Edinburgh and it did not disappoint. One of our favorite meals of the whole trip. Mussels and hamburger were delicious. Drinks were great. Price was decent. Bar was adorable and very Scottish. Service was great and easy to order and pay from the phone.

Still drool at the memory of this.

A mate had recommended this place and as we were back in Scotland thought we'd check it out. Very, very, glad we did. It's just off the main road and parking wasn't a problem. The pub is by the water, with a nice dark indoor area, a restaurant-style room in the back, and a covered smoking area out front. Excellent selection of brews, and the Scotch board is amazing. If you're planing a distillery tour this is a good place to sort out beforehand what you like and plan the route accordingly. But it bills itself as a gastropub and my goodness it lives up to it. Had an amazing meal, the cullen skink was superb and herring on bacon and potato chowder made my stomach and tongue want to cuddle me all night. As for the name, it's a slang term for highlanders used by lowlander Scots; kind of like redneck in the US. Mum asked how to pronounce it and the landlord charmingly said "Give it your best shot and we'll all have a laugh." A top place, we will return on the next visit.

Amazing. Get the local beers. The atmosphere alone is absolutely great. Skink was probably one of the most amazing soups I had ever had and the delightfulness of being surrounded by water was so unique. I have had fish soups all over the world and I can't say I've ever had anything quite like that. The smokiness of the fish and somehow the flavors are so unique to this area that I was surprised by how different each variety of this soup wise and how far end it was to my taste profile. We accidentally got the Tomato soup served to us and boy was that the best mistake of our lives. This tomato soup was so delicious and unusual that it was hard to say again what flavor profiles were from the region that gave such a unique flavor to something called "tomato soup" my wife and I are both tomato soup fanatics and we even make it, and have a constantly, even in Italy but the unique variety of this restaurant and it's ability to put out exceptional food is really rare. Go for it. Arran whiskey was absolutely divine delightful

What a great little pub! Became my go to place while in the area and so happy to have stumbled across this fine establishment. Gorgeous location and man, what a busy little spot! The bar staff was tremendously friendly and helpful. Great selection of beers and the most incredible whisky selection I'd ever seen! I had such a hard time choosing from the menu...everything sounded so good and the orders that went by me looked amazing. Ordered a steak pie with gravy and it was hot and tasty. Beef was melt in my mouth tender and the pastry was perfectly flaky. The Mr. ordered a burger and fries which he also quite enjoyed. You must go to this place then in the area, and I can't wait to return!

Cozy dining room behind the bar.

Grabbed Sunday lunch at Teuchters on the way out of Edinburgh on vacation recently, and I'm so glad that I did! What a really cool spot right along the water. It definitely has that "No frills" pub-feel to it, as you walk in the front door to the bar. But move on to the back of the restaurant and find cozy dining rooms and a waterside patio. They have GLUTEN FREE fish and chips!! This was seriously the only place we had f&c during our two week long trip to Scotland and it they were awesome. Looking around it seems like their mug meals were very popular, but we were very hungry so opted for the ground beef chili nachos in addition to the fish and chips. Very generous portions and everything tasted wonderful. Nice people working here too - be advised, you have to order everything at the bar. Wish we could have come back and drank here... oh well, there's always next time!

We tried on our first week in Edinburgh and failed, but were able to make reservations 3 weeks out for our last night in Scotland, and we are glad we did. Pork cracklins were a bit hard and crunchy, but everything else was perfect. We had fresh bread and langostinis for starters, along with a smokey whiskey cocktail, the Smoked Indiscretion! For mains we enjoyed the poached Cod, and the Pork with Barley. Service was very good, and wine selection was extensive. Atmosphere was loud with music and locals' chatter in the bar below, but dark tables and heavy wood panels made it a perfect place for a couple celebrating 3 weeks of travel. Highly recommend a visit to the Devil's Advocate, if you can book a table in advance.

But they call these lessons, "character building," apparently. No matter, the Devil's Advocate is worth the search. Located in an old Victorian pump house halfway up (or down) Advocate's Close, the Devil's Advocate is known for a killer whisky shelf of more than 300 different bottles from various distilleries across the Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside, Campbelltown, the Islands, and Islay. I finally sipped on a 15-year Tamdu that has convinced me to keep a bottle at home. Then there's the Clydeside 2024 Limited Edition Cask Strength that was wicked impressive. The bartenders are class at making and serving seasonal and regular cocktails that have their spin and character. My wife enjoyed gin-based cocktails such as the Clean Slate (with St-Germain, citrus, and sugar), Rose Garden (with Yellow Chartreuse, Cocchi Rosa, apple, lemon, and mint), and Bee's Knees (honey and lemon). I went full speed ahead with the scotch cocktails, which are essentially classics with a scotch-substituted twist. The Double Shot is an Espresso Martini with Dalmore 12 in addition to Kahlua, espresso, and demerara -- quite smooth without being too sweet. The Scotzia is a Negroni with Fettercairn 12, while the Boxcar is a Sidecar only with Aberfeldy 12. We enjoyed the bar for a few hours, watching the bartenders make magic while sipping on cocktails, while listening to 80s pop tunes. A great evening indeed.

And he was just brilliant really, explaining the drinks to us and such like. Vino is kinda like a combination between a wine bar and an off-license. So you can buy wine etc to drink, as you would normally. You can also buy products from the shelves, and pay 'corkage' to drink it in-house. They have an impressive range of craft beers for example. They also have a particularly good range of gin, and there were also a few dark rums which caught my eye. I'm not sure if you can buy the spirits and drink them there and then, I'd missed that part of the explanation, but you probably wouldn't want to do that anyway. They have great products that you don't often see elsewhere, for example the new Eden Mill 'mixology project'. We tried the 'basil smash hop gin' and the 'berry bramble love gin'. I also lingered over some Chocolate Tree chocolate bars, but decided against it as I wouldn't have been able to resist trying them and that would have spoiled me for my imminent dinner. We were sat inside the main shop area, and there is also outside area where you can have your drinks. Maybe not so much in winter, but nice during the 'summer'. It was a quick visit as we were heading off for dinner, but I would definitely like to return to Vino, for a more leisurely visit (you could while away many hours here) and to browse their wide range of spirits and craft beers. And obviously wines. Cool place, and the main man was just brilliant, very welcoming,

It was a long walk from our hotel, but it was a nice way to see parts of the city that we wouldn't normally have gotten to. The restaurant itself is nestled in the basement (or downstairs) of a cute building. It's small in there, but they're very good at maximizing the space they're given. We settled in at a teeny-tiny table off to the side and swiftly ordered a couple of pints. The menu is very straightforward: you're either getting a meat and cheese plate, just a cheese plate, or pates. We decided to share the Mixed Meat & Cheese platter. We figured that we'd snack and drink some Scottish beer, then head off into the night to find our "real" dinner. Thing is, though, that combo platter filled us the heck up. The waitress came out with the meat and cheese plate and a box of bread, oatcakes and crackers, and my husband and I had a "where is all this going?" moment. But our pro-waitress dropped the plate on the table and popped the bread box into a shelf on the wall next to us - a shelf that neither of us ever even noticed, to be honest. The meat and cheese selections were delicious and paired really well together. Kind of hidden away on that shelf (holding the bread and oatcakes) were a couple chutney jars. That chutney - lots of fruit pieces and complex flavors - brought a lot to the cheeses. We really did love the food, the surroundings, the beer and the staff. I wish we had something like this back home.
