I walked in the store and was immediately greeted by a very pleasant man who asked if he could help. That opened up the conversation so that I could ask him for help with finding a place to camp that night. He spent plenty of time showing me the maps and even writing down suggestions that fit my criteria. He provided great guidance on pros and cons of the area. This store has good selection of jackets and other mountaineering gear. The second floor has a smaller area compared to the first. Two sales persons in the store were available to help. Prices can still be higher (since it's in Jackson Hole) than stores in other cities; nevertheless, some items are on sale. read more

This store is fairly large with a nice selection of items. I'm not a mountaineer, so I'm not sure if this is the place for you to get all of your mountaineering supplies, but it looked the part. The pricing looked fairly fair for the area as well. I was looking for some shoes. When we went back to the shoe area, there were some selections for women but not many so we decided to check out other stores before potentially coming back here to buy. While we were walking out, the people at the register asked if we needed help with anything. We told them we were looking for shoes but wanted to look around at other stores first. The kind older gentleman was nice enough to point out other stores in the area and give some recommendations. I really appreciated and liked that. read more

What I got was an apathetic pair of high school kids who stood and watched me trying on shoes. They didn't remove paper from inside the shoes or lace them for me. I've been coming here for years and the quality of the store is gradually declining. I asked an older staff member to try on a pair of shoes and he seemed very disdainful that he had to help me. I ended up going to JD Highcountry to make the purchase instead. Won't be coming back here unless I absolutely have to. read more

Although the prices are typically on the higher side, they have a great selection of products. I came here looking for a new pair of hiking boots and was in+out in under 20 minutes with a wonderful pair of Oboz. The staff was helpful, but I came in mostly knowing what I already wanted. I had a pair of Oboz previously and they lasted me a good 7+ years with plenty of hiking mileage. The price for the waterproof boot was the same as what I paid 7 years ago ($150), so it was nice to see that prices stayed the same for the brand. I couldn't really bring myself to spend $150 for a light windbreaker or anything else in the store, but glad to have come across this shop and grab the hiking boots! read more

My husband had a shoe malfunction at the end of one of our hikes. This place was amazing, we are from Florida so we only have rolling hills, the employee that helped us (sorry I didn't get his name) but they all were awesome. He gave us a run down on their boots I was so empresses I ended up buying a pair for myself as well as my husband getting a new pair! What a game changer these new boots are! Went here on a Friday night at 7pm. There sign said they closed at 8pm. The doors were locked, lights were on and staff were standing at the desk. When I tried to get in they just looked at me and turned away from me. I double checked my watch and they did indeed close 1 hour early on a Friday Night! We went back the next day just to check it out and they staff were rude. They never acknowledged our presence in the store and there were 4 of us willing to spend money. We headed down the street to the many other options for outdoor equipment. We will never return to this store. read more

While the selection at Teton Mountaineering probably the most complete in the Jackson area, many on the staff leave much to be desired. They are pompous and have talked down to myself and friends who I have been in store with. If you want to feel small and insignificant, head to TM for gear, if you don't, then I suggest Skinny Skis or Wilson Backcountry! read more

Came to Jackson for my friend's wedding and some skiing. We hit Teton Pass resort and some beautiful backcountry a 20 min drive away. On our way out of town we stopped by Teton Mountaineering and were blown away by the selection and prices. I prefer wool and down to other materials and they had both in spades, from my 2 favorite designers: Arc'teryx and Patagonia. My girlfriend found some stylish shirts she loved and we got some great deals at 50% off (mid-Feb!). The salesperson was really friendly, telling me about the local crags and pullouts for climbing and skiing and didn't seem concerned about selling me more stuff. read more

MSR called Teton Mountaineering (TM) for us to arrange a warrantee replacement. We confirmed with TM by phone before driving over from ID. But once we were there, TM refused to honor what they'd told MSR, saying it was their "high season and we can't spare the inventory". In other words, they could care less. Their warrantee guy showed a lack of courtesy that made even other customers uncomfortable, and purposely kept us waiting before finally refusing to help, even after taking a direct call from MSR (who were great). I was recently in Jackson for a week and a half for a group ski trip and had a major equipment malfunction with my boots. Being backcountry gear, it was not an easy fix, though the TM crew gave a great effort to try and repair them. In the end the manufacturer replaced almost the entire pair of boots (I got to keep my custom inserts), but the TM crew handled all the interactions with the manufacturer and sent my boots to me after I had left town. They were great during my trip, renting me boots on short notice and day-to-day since we were never sure whether there would be a breakthrough with my own equipment. Everybody there was a great help and I will definitely give them my business anytime I go back to Jackson. Thanks guys! read more
