The fish and chips are great. The fish is always a generous portion and so fresh and the chips aren't too greasy. The mushy peas are also yummy. The pea fritter was a bit bland. It's basically their mushy peas, battered and fried. The fish cake was a great size for the price but again just a bit bland for me. The scampi is definitely our new favourite menu item. We'll probably come more often because of this. So fresh and lots of pieces! Definitely the best fish and chips in the area. read more

As we learned. they say, this is a "Proper" traditional fish & chip shop. My Grand-daughter voted it the "Best Fish & Chips on our first visit to Tetbury, Cotswolds...and all of England!" I agree! The potatoe fries or chips were perfectly seasoned. The fish portions were very generous. The manager/owner was super friendly and welcoming. We even added our location pins to his wall map of where we're visiting from. Such a fun touch for out of towners. The fish was fluffy, delicious! The gals working the counter were very nice. We found street parking for the 9 passenger van, which surprised me. All around a wonderful experience. read more

Despite the fact this is the one of the only fish and chip shop I can find in Tetbury, I would have to call it the best. The way the chips came out, the perfect amount of chips to fill me up. And the quality of the fish, MMMMM. Love it. 5 Stars, almost deducted a point because there was a black chip that I didn't see was black, I bit it and spat it out as it tasted like charcoal. but I'll let it slide. Good job! read more

The fish and the chips are fantastic, they are freshly cooked, the fish is moist, the batter is crisp and the staff are kind helpful and thoroughly nice. This is the only fish and chip shop in Tetbury, and it shows. They know they are the only one and they just don't care. I can quite honestly say that the chips are by far the worst I have ever had the misfortune of eating; they were burnt soggy and full of rot - literally brown rings of cooked rotten potato! To add to the disgusting food, the prices are horrific, £1.70 for a large chips which from experience was less than a portion of 'normal' chips from any other good chippy. Admittedly, I didn't try the fish, but I had a jumbo sausage which was priced at £1.65 - at least 60 pence more than I have ever paid before at any chippy! The whole experience of visiting the town's only chippy was a let down; from the sticky door that made me look stupid as I battled to open it, to tripping over the stupidly placed large concrete plant pot that I tripped over on the way out. I was hoping for much more from a 'local town chippy' in a town bathed in history with a royal seal; I certainly didn't get it... no where near in fact! I gave it one star because I couldn't give it none! read more

Hadn't had great experiences previously with this fish and chip shop but as it was on the way home and I was pushed for time, I thought I would give it another go. The previous two reviews were from 2010 and 2012 and nothing seems to have changed. The fish was incredibly greasy and I had to check that they were doing a large chips as the portion seemed so small. When I commented on the size of chips they didn't seem at least embarrassed about it. They were also very brown. They do two types of curry sauce, a fish and chip shop one and a chinese one. I asked for the fish and chip shop one. I'm pretty sure they gave me the chinese one as it was unbearably sweet (and watery). It would be even more worrying it it wasn't the chinese as that would make it the worst curry sauce I've ever had. I always used to think our local chip shop wasn't that great but compared to the Tetbury one it's a Mitchelin starred restaurant! Advice is not to go near this place. read more

Called at The Tetbury Fish & Chip Shop at 17.00 on 6/01/2012 its the worst fish and chips I have ever seen the chips was left overs from lunchtime burnt soggy the fish was equally the same, steak pie was cold. I phoned the shop up and the supervisor the owners daughter in law promised to phone the owner a woman called Maureen and she would call us back guess what no phone call I was told to ring in the morning. I then went to purchase replacements in Chesterton in Cirencester thats was Fish & Chips at its very best. Avoid the chippy like the plague totally rubbish. Unfortunately I had to give it 1 star the system does not allow minus 5 stars. Ignore the star rating. read more
