3 LITTLE SNACKS
The…read moreMochii Donut inside Yorktown Mall offers some fun items at inflated mall prices.
This stall is located towards the back of the upper-level foodcourt, near Sbarro. You can buy their unique mochi donuts individually or in dozens with flavors ranging from matcha, strawberry, ube, oreo, to fruity pebbles and a couple other flavors.
The combo I picked ($16) included 1 each of a Korean corn dog, mochi donut, and boba tea. From a pure savings standpoint, merging a single donut ($3.50), boba tea ($6.50), and corn dog ($8) into one purchase saved a few bucks... I still found it pricey.
Their hot cheetos half & half corn dog ( 1/2 beef hot dog + 1/2 cheese stick, rolled in flaming hot cheeto dust) was pretty satisfying and the first bite yielded an AMAZING cheese pull. You can also get one rolled in diced potatoes or uncooked ramen, although raw noodles sounds like a nightmare to me.
The boba milk tea w/tapioca hit the spot, and I liked the mango coconut mochi donut. My wife wasn't a fan of the chewier texture for a donut, but she loves the traditional ice cream mochi so she clearly isn't bothered by the glutenous rice paste. *shrugs*
* TL;DR *
Three snacks, three stars. Par is 3 for most mall booths anyways, so Mochii Donut's neither excelled nor disappointed.
Given their menu is tailored towards "quick bite" items (as opposed to full meals), I can't see Mochii Donut existing outside the biosphere of malls or airports. I enjoyed the Korean corn dog and milk tea, but $3.50 is steep for a fairly simple glazed donut.
Fine for a single visit, however I won't seek them out again next time I'm at Yorktown (after all, Burnin' Mouth hot chicken is only 50ft away!)
