Somewhere central so you didn't have to get in your car everytime you needed a loaf of bread or some oranges. So congratulations to Waitrose for meeting that need. It took Waitrose a while to settle into their market. For a while, they tried to be more like a deli, with little discounting and not many customers doing a weekly shop. Either the credit crunch or a sensible reappraisal led them to introduce price commitments and reductions. While not there yet, I am sure what all local residents really want is Waitrose quality at Tesco prices, and if that's how we keep buying maybe Waitrose will start to provide.

So excited was I that a woman was laughing at me whilst going up in the lift. Pharmacy, hair salon, butchers, bakers, candlestick makers...ok that last one was made up but still. Even better was their entire aisle (yes, a WHOLE AISLE) for 'free from' food which forced me to accept the fact that I'm a gimmicky salespersons wet dream as I walked out with a box of Gorrilla Crunch cereal just because it had a gorrilla on the front....the fact that about half the money per box goes to the rainforest was something of an after thought. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic the majority of supermarkets had very long lines, the longest wait here was 10 minutes.

Using my sat nav just to try find a grocery shop and I passed budgens and as I was trying to find a safe place to turn around I happen to find Tesco which to my delight had a big car park which was sign posted very well! So I got a great spot next to the entrance and at first grabbed a basket as I knew this was a small store but just going down one aisle I then decided I needed a trolley as there was more items you can get through this store! I ended up doing my whole weekend shopping which was great for me as I didn't have to venture anywhere else and the queues for the till was very short and staff were very friendly!

It's got a huge range of items, although no adult clothing (other than underwear) or much in the way of electronics/media/toys, unlike even bigger stores. For groceries, though, it's got a lot to offer. Fruit and veg are of good quality and usually well-stocked. The deli and fresh fish counters offer a lot of choice, and they even have a large 'Polish food' section. They have two 'car trolleys' which amuse small (and big) kids greatly, and make the shopping trip easier with children who are too big for the trolley seats but too small to walk all the way around without whining. Staff are friendly and helpful, and offers on food are good value.
