For me it's useful because it has an in-store cafe. This is a proper cafe, selling meals and hot drinks, whereas my home Tesco at Harrow now has a coffee shop franchise inside. In addition it's open 24 hours and has a petrol forecourt, as well as a pharmacy, fish counter, meat counter, clothing and photo processing. I would love to have the time to spend inside this store but I'm always rushing to or from the centre where I teach. Also useful to note that they have cashtills.

In addition to food and staples, you can buy clothes, appliances, computers, televisions, plus, as the ads will tell you, pet insurance, car insurance and other financial products. In common with other large supermarkets, they often move things around and expand their offering and sometimes their actual space. They have a deli counter, fish counter, meat counter and a takeaway counter (hot food). Clothes and fashion are upstairs. When I say 'stairs', I mean a sloped travelator, which, most annoyingly, announces to all and sundry that you are approaching the end of the line. The clothes are very reasonably priced, and there is a huge selection. Produce is good, and selection throughout the store is comprehensive. This is a good, enormous Tesco. Even the car park is huge. They are open often and late (24 hours during the week); during normal human shopping hours, it can be very crowded. I can recommend this, as much as I recommend any supermarket. It takes a while to shop here because of its size, and that can get frustrating. You may also, during busy times, have to park in Madrid. All in all, a good, large, superstore supermarket.

The car park is large and however busy the store is it's always possible to find a place to park. In the car park is a car wash which though significantly more expensive than most car washes is worth the extra as they only use Autoglym products, are trained and are not victims of modern slavery which is a concern at many private car washes if one wants to be an ethical consumer. Four stars not five because Sunday would prefer 11-5pm opening hours instead of 10-4. Also the petrol pump always seem to overcharge something Tesco have been prosecuted on at other locations.

This review is about the petrol station specifically rather than the store itself. I've bought…read morepetrol from here on a few occasions and each time I've had the same experience, one dispenses fuel and a total amount comes up on the pump 30.50 for example, put the pump back in the holder but when you get to pay they say its 30.51 or on some occasions 30.52. Previously before the petrol station was refurbished could put this down to old pumps (though still not legal) but now with a complete refurbishment and new pumps its still happening. Each time I raise it with the staff where you pay they aren't interested in fact downright miserable. Yesterday I asked if the super unleaded that I purchased had been reformulated to 97 octane from 99octane, its premium unleaded she said blithely. I tried to explain premium unleaded is always 95 octane in the UK and I had purchased super unleaded, they don't tell us anything she said in a monotone, I realized this staff member would be better off engaged cleaning the pumps and the tyre pressure gauge then at the till. So if anyone is reading this from Trading Standards / Department of Consumer Affairs do conduct your own experiment. My car had at least a gallon of fuel but the pump dispensed enough fuel as though I only had two litres left so again worry about the accuracy of fuel dispensed. Tesco were prosecuted a few years ago for having fuel bypass system to make extra profits.

They don't provide much in the way of clothes, electrical and other such lines (apart from during the January sales). It stocks a wide range of groceries, but keeps doing that annoying thing of changing where things are so you can wander round for what seems like hours looking for the things you buy every week. The thing that really lets it down is the cigarette/lottery kiosk. The queues there are always long and the staff can be downright rude.
