This Tesco is like a supermarket in mini, in fact it seems to have most of what you want, which makes you think why we need such humongous megastores that Tesco is famous for...! Good amount of parking out front and a free ATM outside too. read more

Aldi

Can't believe I haven't reviewed what used to be my local supermarket! I literally lived on the…read moredoorstep and only ever used this place because I personally think it's better food than the bigger supermarket chains like Asda and Sainsbury's, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper as well! What I like most about Aldi is that it sells authentic food, not brand name foods. I love that I can go in and get German sausage, Spanish chorizo and Swedish smoked cheese all right next to each other, and it's all real, authentically made food, as opposed to Asda's own etc. My one reason this specific store doesn't have a 5* review is that there's 5 checkouts and they never open more than 2, even when it's absolutely mobbed. The staff could also do with being a bit more friendly; they never look pleased in their chosen workplace! ALSO, incase anyone didn't know this because I certainly didn't; Aldi sells William Brothers beer, which is absolutely wonderful!

If you don't know what Aldi is all about then I suggest you visit. They have an excellent selection of Scottish craft beers (think BrewDog, Eden Mill, Tempest, Broughton etc.) and a great lineup of wines too. Lots of their produce is local and they are expanding their range all the time.

This tiny little Tesco Extra is…read morelocated literally 2 minutes away from my house, and so I'm always coming in here for anything from apples to a weekly shopping if I can't be bothered going to Asda. The staff in here can be a bit robotic and boring in their approach to things, and aren't particularly prone to a chat, but they get things done. They frequently ID me when I'm buying alcohol which is irritating because I'm so not used to being ID'd that I rarely carry it with me. I'm sorry, do I look under 18 Tesco? Really?

I've been coming to this store since I was born. I love this store! Sad I know but maybe it's the…read morefamiliarity. Yes it's changed over the years but it's still the same old Asda underneath. The Cafe's still there, it was closed when I headed down today but I think I may pop in again some day for a brew. It reminds me of my school days of going down the street for my lunch. Hanging around about Asda looking and buying things we've no need for. This was also a fun past time when I used to be part of the management committee at the Terminal One Youth Centre across the road. I still can't believe they made this Asda 24 hours, is there seriously people who want to head to shop in Blantyre at 3 in the morning?! I've no idea but I know I certainly wouldn't. Also why they built a Hamilton 24hr Asda when the Blantyre one's been there for 30 years. Suppose the Hamilton one does have more stuff in it like clothes and electrical etc. Well I did mange to get my dad a new ariel for his tv so he was mighty pleased. You do manage to get most things from there but it is normally for the groceries. I do have one gripe with them at the moment since they've did away with the deli counter. You now can only buy packs of meat slices, which cost a fortune, £3 odd for several slices, I don't think so. I miss the counter where you could just order what you need, maybe 1 or 2 slices. There's still some kind of counter and that's where I asked about single slices, even the women agreed that they shouldn't have did away with the deli. Ah well maybe it will work, maybe it won't only time will tell. It was the same when all those self checkouts came into play. Don't even get me started on them. Also what's with the staff being made to have big hand signs with 'space here'?! Maybe it's to give them jobs when they lost out to the self checkouts. Some people's crazy ideas eh?! As long as they keep the Asda Price low. Do do do-do-do, chink chink! (slaps bum)

This is a large supermarket located in the retail park in Hamilton. The store supplies clothing,…read moregroceries, electrical, Entertainment as well as a cafe and a petrol station. The prices are slightly more expensive than other supermarkets in the area. The store is bright and well lit but the layout is rather difficult to understand if you have never shopped here before. The staff can seem rather robotic at times and there never seems to be anyone on the shop floor. It is an okay supermaket but not my first choice.
I can honestly say this is the worst supermarket I have ever shopped in. If you have a complaint,…read morethe Manager is rude and does not care about the customers, only his staff. I made a serious complaint about a staff member who was extremely rude to me and humiliated me in front of staff and many members of the public. Having complained about this person, who is known to wind customers up, the Manager completely disregarded what I said and told me he didn't believe me and that this staff member was his colleague??? This particular staff member got a few of his colleagues to give "false" statements about me which again, the Manager of the store backed up. Utterly disgusting and non-existent customer care, I have never in my life experienced this before. Basically, the upshot is, if you complain, they do not have the skills or ability to use their judgement and will refuse to listen or take on board if you have a serious enough case against them. They cannot handle themselves in a professional manner and would rather lose loyal customers than stand by them. East Kilbride is a far superior store and is always busy whereas Hamilton is dead....a lot of people genuinely do not like this store and would rather go elsewhere, lets face it, there's enough competition out there. Don't give this store your custom, if you complain, you'll know exactly what I mean.
