Waitrose at Alderley Edge is quite a nice branch of Waitrose, despite being quite small it has…read morequite a nice, cool feel to it and it is in a good location too, in a fairly central position for Alderley Edge, close to a nice number of restaurants and coffee shops, as well as having its' own Waitrose cafe, where of course Mywaitrose members can get a free hot drink every day, no purchase required as part of their loyalty scheme. This branch of Waitrose follows the branch tradition of the Quick Check, or QC App, where you can download it, and after scanning a barcode at the front of the score, you can use your smartphone's camera as a scanner, and scan as you shop, being able to see how much everything is, making it so much easier and quicker and much cooler to do your shopping as well, which really beats the portable scanners, which Tesco have and Waitrose previously had, which wouldn't even take my Waitrose card for some bizarre reason! The layout of this store is quite nice and modern, albeit it is abit confusing, I even had to ask someone where the checkouts were! The free from range was pretty basic but it was satisfactory, they did also have some nice thing around the store gluten free as well, such as the Rankin Selection sausages, on offer at £2 which are exclusive to Waitrose and some of my favorite gluten free sausages, and even there own-brand Waitrose 1 Cumberland sausages are gluten free. The pricing on most items seemed reasonable, I also was pleased to be able to pick up a free newspaper, another Waitrose offer rewards you with a free newspaper if you spend £5 on a weekday or £10 on a week-end, which is another nice, rewarding scheme. Most of the staff seemed okay here, albeit they didn't seem as nice and helpful as other staff who have served me, however my server at the till seemed really nice and helpful, and actually helped me skip a queue and open a separate till for me, just to type in my code and away I went with my shopping, so much easier using the app. This Waitrose store is quite nice, it stocks a decent range and of course it has a cafe, and some cool products you probably will only see at Waitrose, if it was a bigger store with a better selection and perhaps free parking for more than 20 minutes, rather than charging 50p an hour, it probably would have scored higher but for now deserves a solid and very fair three stars.

This branch of Sainsbury's is a very small store in Wilmslow, which in my opinion, in ways is more…read moreof a local-store, and certainly not somewhere you can conduct a weekly shop, especially when compared to other supermarkets, especially from the Sainsbury's brand who tend to occupy rather large stores and have a history of doing this at Heaton Park, Oldham and Blackpool, to name just 3 larger locations I have visited. The range in this store, was pretty basic and it was only a small store, the free from range was very poor, and the frozen selection was non-existent. The isles of the store as well were very short, and it seems 2 of them made up the size of an isle at another, larger store such as the branch at Heaton Park, Manchester for example. This store didn't have a good feel to it either, due to the size and range, it didn't have a cafe, which is similar to a nearby Waitrose supermarket. The prices were satisfactory, with some items being avaliable elsewhere for cheaper, the same or more expensive prices, for example Waitrose had better offers with newspapers and coffee, with a free newspaper if you spend £5 on a weekday or £10 on a weekend, and a free tea or coffee each day, but other items such as The new Kettle Bites seemed cheaper here by 50%, with it being £1 here but 50% more expensive at Waitrose for £1.50, although to be fair to Waitrose, they did have the full range and the 2 nicer flavours in my opinion, compared to this Sainsbury's who just had 2 out of the 4 in the full range that Waitrose did have. The staff didn't seem great, they seemed to be their just for the pay-check and not enhancing the customer experience and making it both better and easier for customers. This store is rather similar in size to the branch in Huddersfield, although I would say this store is slightly smaller. This store does have some nice stuff in, but that's about it and this store sadly isn't somewhere you could do a full weekly shop, and it does sadly deserve nothing more than a 2 star rating, which I still feel is quite fair.

This store can be quite a nightmare to get to, being situated on a row of 5 or so roundabouts, especially when traveling in direction from North Manchester. This store has a small customer service desk, which is up to satisfactory standard yet could look much more welcoming and more like "the centre of the store" They was a Clubcard Machine, where you can print off vouchers and coupons however it seemed that it didn't work hence I couldn't log on and the problem was experienced by others as well, they was no staff around to know about it or even seem like it is being fixed. This store has a very big free from section, one of the biggest I have seen frozen-wise and helps to put many other branches (especially Middleton) to shame, their range was so big that is is worth traveling for and even includes some items that I can't even buy online at Tesco's website. They was a few disgusting things regarding this store, including an iced coffee, which was drank out of and then put back, drink was still in it, but they was not all of it left and it was open, I am glad I saw this before drinking out of it!!!! This store seems to be over 2 floors and is quite a nice store entering, with a standard Tesco looking including the yellow/ white colour flooring. I want to give this store 3 stars, mainly because of its' free from range and size, however I can't give any more because - The Clubcard machine was faulty - Customer Service could be slightly larger and more welcoming, especially for such a large store - The disgusting incident with the iced coffee - I have not had a good look around this store yet, as I just ran in to check the free from ranges while in the area.

The situation was handled very poorly and I was appalled by how the cashier spoke to the customer as if they were children. After talking to other members of staff we were told that this is a regular occurrence. The behaviour of this staff member was unacceptable.

While it isn't the largest or most modern store within the Cheshire East / Manchester area, and it sadly does not have a Cafe, it is a nice store with a good product range and some nice fresh counters. I have noticed a problem with the handheld scanners, you're supposed to be able to use a device to scan your products as you go around, but more recently they have either been out of order, charging or unavailable, it also doesn't help that the app is no longer supported as for some reason it seems to crash on iOS 14 (despite iOS 14 being out for over 3 months now). It'd also be useful if they had bags in this area, so you can scan as you shop, rather than going all the way to the other end of the store to get bags, to go back again to start your shop (Surely that ruins the process of what should make it easier?) I do find the set-up of the store a bit strange due to the construction, there are poles which are built into the store's structure in the middle of aisles, obviously, it can be rather uncomfortable if you want a product from where these are located and it isn't as open view and I'd have liked, it felt like I was back at Goodison Park but instead of looking at Everton, I was looking at gluten-free bread. 3* - Some decent products, a little pricey in some areas but that's Waitrose and they do have some good brands here, much better store overall than Sainsbury's but with a couple of major flaws, I do prefer their Altrincham branch locally for sure.

You see, Wilmslow has a real reputation for being a bit posh, so it really figures that there is a Waitrose. Personally, Waitrose isn't for me. Sure, all the produce here is really good quality but it's just so expensive. If you come here to do a weekly shop it can end up costing far more than you would expect. They just don't have any real budget items. There was a time when I was slightly addicted to getting my lunch from the Waitrose salad bar, but that's as far as my relationship with Waitrose has got. Asda all the way I say.

The store was fine, although there are better ASDA stores nearby, the product selection was OK for a store of its' size, and I was able to pick up most of the few items I needed. Scan & Go Mobile is available in this store, where you can scan and bag items as you shop, I do think it is really difficult to pay here compared to other supermarkets as you can only go to one specific self-service checkout, which is on the end and mixed in with the others, this is the first ASDA location which does not either have a specific section or the technology added on to all self-service machines, I think it makes little sense to not signpost it, which leads to confusion, especially as there is no area to queue if you want this machine only. The staff seemed more annoying than helpful, after I found out where the machine was, the employee seemed eager to assist me, even though I told her I was fine and didn't require assistance, as I struggled to scan my barcode, she typed it in, she seemed to be doing it really slowly to waste time, and pressed the wrong button to delete everything to start again, she even touched my phone as the screen began to dim, without permission, which I didn't find to be appropriate, especially considering I didn't require help in the first place... someone should play her Raylee's entry into Melodi Grand Prix... "I don't need a hero" There was a pharmacy but this just seemed to get in the way, there were some warehouse/unloading cages around the store which also were an inconvenience, but this certainly wasn't as bad as many other stores nearby within the town centre. 3* - Pretty average ASDA, there are better stores nearby but with this being the only major supermarket in Wythenshawe town centre, a town of over 100,000 people, it is useful.

This is one of the largest Booths stores I have visited, located on Stanley Road in Knutsford Town…read moreCentre, Booths is a premium northern supermarket chain, it reminds me a lot of a Northern Waitrose, this store is visually pleasing and has some good and high-quality products, especially from their Booths own brand. Prices are a little bit more expensive here, which is typical of the Booths brand. The store did have a good selection of products, but it still felt short compared to the size of the store, with many shelves and food counters left half-empty and poorly stocked, and they just looked like they had not been full for a while, which makes me wonder if the store is maybe too big for its own boots. There is a Cafe in the store, but it appears to be closed up and packed away in the early afternoon, which is a shame. I did find the store layout to be a little confusing, making it harder to find what I was looking for than it should be, with key grocery items including dairy (milk and cheese) tucked into the back corner of the store, I found items such as the cheese poorly packed onto the shelves, for some reason they put most of the cheese on a deep shelf right at the top, which would make it difficult for anyone who wasn't significantly tall to reach. The checkout service remained slow, down to not having a self-service option and the outdated system at the tills, compared to other major supermarkets, that being said the staff members at the checkout and on the food counters, were friendly. The car park was large, but again a strange one, the private parking company has a sign which states you can park for two hours up until 8 pm... but the store closes at 10 pm. This leaves room for misinterpretation and confusion on the car parking regulations during the final two hours of the day and needs to be rectified. 3* - Friendly staff and some nice products, but the store just seems too large for what they have, with the shelves and fresh-food counters seeming depleted, other issues such as the shelf placement and setup as well as the car parking means there are many areas for improvement.

This location is obviously much larger than the Media City UK store, which doesn't stock as many products. The look and feel of the store is good, it feels different from your regular supermarket and it matches the high-end nature of the brand and area. Getting in and out of the store can be tricky via the car park, it is basically off the main road, next to Costa Coffee and in a small complex with a few other stores. The traffic lights to get onto the main road take several minutes, it's ridiculous making getting in and out of the store difficult. The staff here all seemed super friendly and eager to help, even though I did visit later on in the day. The store closes at 10 pm during the week but in the final few hours they do wind down a bit, I personally think this should be made clearer on their website for example - The cafe closes at 7 pm - this is reasonable as you can still sit in a cafe with a drink from the machine and they do state this on the website However, after around 8 pm they close down the counters with fresh cheese, fish, meat which are some of my favourite parts about Booths - I was especially gutted as my favourite crumbly Lancashire cheese was on offer at 30% off, which already is pretty cheap. The only way I could get my cheese is if I chose one which was already pre-cut, which was an ultra-small or large piece. I had to spend £5.70 just to get enough cheese which was around 1/3 more than I planned to spend coming into the store (that's before considering it was on offer too!) They also shut off the freshly squeezed orange machine, again they left two small bottles available to buy. I don't like how they didn't label this, however, they did turn the machine off but it wasn't obvious so I did try to get the juice out for a minute only to get a member of staff who in turn asked a supervisor to see it had been switched off. They did have some great products especially for gluten-free foods, gluten-free ranges included their sausages, pigs-in-blankets, fresh bread rolls and bread and the MakTok Chilli Paste, as seen on Dragon's Den where the amazing Will went on to get a well-deserved investment with Sara Davies. A high-end store so it is pretty expensive in general, I ended up paying £6 for two packs of sausages, close to £4 for fresh gluten-free bread (still expensive even by gluten-free standards), but on the other hand most of the cheeses were good value and the fresh butchers sausage were much cheaper than the pre-packaged ones, they also had good multi-buy offers on the essentials and more common/budget items including chocolate. A really good store, the overall design and feel of the place is cool and it is probably the best store in the area to get gluten-free products, perhaps on par with Marks and Spencer's larger locations but I really do feel the store's unwinding from 3 hours before closing which even all staff aren't aware of (certainly isn't stated on its' website) is a big down-fall. I can't help but consider the amount of food waste too as many times due to expire including the orange juices (I don't know how long they were there for) were still full price even during this phase. 4*

Driving through it makes you feel like you're in a different realm, with gigantic mansions laced along quiet American sized roads, each one with a unique grand design. Not surprisingly house prices in the region range between £1-6 million. I digress or do I? Booths is a high end supermarket that has only one branch in Manchester (Media city) Majority of their outlets are in affluent areas in Lancashire and Cheshire and that's reflected in their prices. The fruit and vegetable stock is proudly sourced from local farmers and is fresh so prices are justified to a certain extent. Aside from getting bits and bobs from the Deli for lunch I didn't get much. A more detailed review to follow after my next visit. A lovely store which is perfect for a meeting point and coffee also.

The car park appears to be shared by the Civic Hall and includes a doctor's surgery, but you do get two hours of free parking which is surely enough to do your shopping. The store is a decent size, and the checkout staff were friendly. I had some issues scanning my gift card at the self-checkout due to the sunlight reflection making it difficult for me to read the screen, and the screen to read the product barcodes, but a staff member noticed the kerfuffle I was facing and offered assistance, without me having to ask him. The store was reasonably well stocked, but I was unable to find the Waitrose Free From crumpets that I had come in for. The store layout could do with some work, as the coffee on offer appeared to be separate from the rest of the coffee section, which made little sense, as it was in a different area of the store. PRO TIP: Bring your reusable cup and get a free coffee with a MyWaitrose card 3* - A decent supermarket, with many positives for sure including the staff but far from perfect, it would also be useful for the store to have evening openings past 20:00 during the week.
