At dusk last night I had a blowout on I40. Called AAA and they said they would get right on it but may take a couple hours. I was alone, it was getting dark and I was 75 miles from my destination. I searched for nearby tire service myself and found Terrys Service Center. "Monica" at Terry's said they would get right on it and they did. Mr. Terry showed up in about 10 minutes and towed my vehicle to the perfectly equipped service center in no time. My vehicle was ready in less than 30 minutes. I was driving across country and my tire light came on. It was a Saturday and I was kind of in the middle of nowhere. Not long after I had to stop and the tire quickly flattened. I called AAA and they towed me to Terry's Service Center. I figured I would be getting 2 new tires before I could get on my way. Keith at Terry's took care of me and located a tiny metal hook I had picked up on the road. He easily patched and repaired the tire and got me on my way. Total cost: $20. Like all the other reviews here, Keith gave me great service and a fantastic deal. We had a nail in our trailer tire and no one nearby to fix it. We pulled off the highway to change a flat and a nice trucker offered to fix it nearby at their shop. Little did we know, it was a shop we had already called to see if they could fill tires with nitrogen. Apparently nitrogen is difficult to fill when on the road. We took our trailer to the shop where they patched our flat and sent us on our way. Seamless experience and barely charged us anything. We can't thank Terry's enough. read more

We were sending time at Ute Lake RV park. Drove into Tucumcari one evening for dinner and stopped for gas in Logan. Turned off the engine and something kept running. (It finally turned off ) We called Terrys early and told them about it. We were supposed to leave to go home, pulling our trailer and were wary about being stranded on the road. They said we'd be ok to bring just the truck in. (About 25 minutes away) They ran the test on it and found that while it needed fixed soon, they didn't have the part and couldn't work on it til Monday. They assured us we'd be ok to go back to Amarillo as long as we were careful and told us what to do so as not to have trouble. Since they didn't work on it, they didn't charge. But we gave them a tip anyway. It was mee than worth the peace of mind. They were very kind and helpful. It was a great place for us. While I hope to not have to come back, I definitely would recommend them. read more

What can I say, we had a driver from Michigan that is hauling a 3 axle trailer to Quartzsite, AZ for a show we are going to. He was stopped at the port of entry in San Jon, NM the electric brake cable did not pass the inspection so he was grounded, we called Terry's Diesel in San Jon, NM and they made adjustments in their workload to get a technician to the trailer and get him back up on the road. Needless to say they saved us in time to make it to Quartzsite. I cannot say thank you enough, I would recommend Terry's Diesel in San Jon, NM anytime!! read more

I honestly cannot praise these guys enough. On my seventh annual trip from New Jersey to California I found myself missing a wheel on my trailer right after crossing the New Mexico border, about 15 minutes outside San Jon. Someone else who does the same drive out to the event I was on my way to recommended getting a few hours sleep at the gas station I was near, and giving Terry's a call in the morning. Wasn't able to fall asleep, but I did give Terry's a call at 6 AM when their repair shop was listed as opening. They gave me directions that didn't involve the interstate that I could limp my trailer down, and assured me that if I could get to them, they could fix it. In case anyone was wondering, "15 minutes outside San Jon" when you are limping a three wheeled trailer is about a 2 your drive, but we made it there without incident and soon I was backing my trailer into the shop. Turns out my wheel hub had exploded and when it disappeared into the New Mexican desert it damaged the spindle on my drop axle, so they actually called in who I'm assuming was their fabricator in early before he went to church so they could get a confirmation on what they would need to make the repairs, and so that everything would be ready for him when he came in officially later in the day. Along with replacing the drop axle on the one side, they pointed out to me that my other three wheel hubs were in about the same " explode and send your wheel flying into the desert never to be seen again" problem as the one that had already taken off so I had them replace the hubs and bearings on the other three wheels as well while I was there. I proceeded to put another 4000 miles on the trailer without issue before arriving home again so I can attest to the quality of their work. All of the employees were exceptionally nice and friendly. (Especially their shop dog who could not get enough petting) they even let me and my friends catch a few hours sleep in their waiting room, which was fantastic because we'd all been up for about 24 hours by the time we got the trailer to them. My friends took more advantage of that then I did as I was busy worrying about just how much all of this was going to end up costing, seeing that I was 2000 miles from home and who knows how far from the next nearest shop. This could have easily turned into a National Lampoons Vacation "how much you got?" Situation. When all was said and done, and I finally got the invoice, I'd been there from about 830 am to sunset, so I was shocked to see I was only being charged for 4 1/2 hours labor. Obviously, spending any money you didn't plan to on a cross-country trip like this is not desirable, but I have to say, these guys took great care of me and my trailer, and were unbelievably reasonable with their prices and rates. On the way back home I wanted to stop back in with some dog treats for Dabita (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong) but it was already pretty late when I passed through San Jon. Hopefully next year when I do the drive again I can stop in under nicer circumstances. Thank you to all of the employees of Terry's service center for helping this kid from Jersey out. read more

No bones about it, these guys rock! I had my alternator separate from the chassis, which fried both belts, and in my head I freaked out: I'm in the middle of nowhere, it's 8pm, and no shop is going to be open. Terry's had billboards, so that offered some relief, but the prospect of sleeping in the truck overnight wasn't thrilling me. At least, until I got there. Happy! #1 - they're open until 10pm daily. Happy! #2 - they're professional guys, in a clean, well-run shop, including being very-well stocked; the 33" belts I needed were there with more to spare. Happy! #3 - they're seemingly used to break-downs. The night guy offered me a ride to a motel next town over, coordinated a ride back the next morning, and best of all, I was back on the road before lunch. All told, I'd love never to have broken down, but given it was in the cards, I'm THRILLED it was here, and that the process to repair was quick, painless, and affordable! read more

We recently drove from New York to Arizona. Early on the third day of driving the mini van started malfuncting with loss of power, irregular transmission shifts between 3rd and 4th gear and dramatically fluctuating rpm's in 4th gear. We were on 40 West and had just entered New Mexico. It was very questionable whether we would make it to Terry's. Since Terry's had such favorable reviews we kept going. We hardly made it off the highway and into Terry's. We met Justin at the counter. The shop was extremely busy with multiple vehicles needing service and repair. Within an hour or so, Justin had one of the most experienced mechanics test the vehicle. We went on about a long test ride with the vehicle performing normally. Justin found no trouble lights and no codes. Experience suggested to him that it was likely a fuel pump, but could be a transmission problem. Rather than trying to push forward , drive back to Amarillo or risk getting stuck on US 40 he suggested that we try and get the vehicle to Bender Chrysler-Dodge in Clovis, New Mexico because in his opinion that was the best way to diagnose the problem and get the van fixed. It was excellent advice. I called the dealership which was almost 60 miles south; had a reassuring conversation with the service manager; and started of to Clovis. The vehicle made it and the dealership made an excellent educated assumption that it was a fuel pump. They replaced the fuel pump; tested the vehicle for an extended period of time and got us back on the road later that day. We spent an extra 10 hours in New Mexico that day but met some wonderful caring people who took excellent care of us. My timing belt broke near Terry's shop and I am from 100's of miles away in another state, they towed me to their shop and I was a captive customer with no options to shop around. I feared that I would get taken advantage of since they will never see me again as a customer, but I was wrong. They did a great job on my car at a reasonable price and one of the managers gave me a ride to a rental car place 80 miles down the road. I found out this is a family business that has been around a long time with many repeat customers. These guys are honest and could have taken me for $1000's and I would never have known. After some super bad luck, I was in need of a tire that no one else had in the entire area. One of the tire shops, that did not have my tire, recommended Terry's. I called them and they let me know that they did in fact have it and that I don't need to worry, they'll take care of the tire I blew out on my cross country drive. My husband was bringing an RV we just purchased from Virginia to Washington state when a tire from the truck in front of him on I40 kicked out a tire. That tire went under our RV and took out the drive train. Terry's was amazing not in just towing the RV but in getting the parts and providing 5 days of free electric and water hookup so that my husband could live in the RV while waiting for the repairs to be completed. They had a 19-inch tire for my car (since the nail had embedded itself almost at the edge of the tire), and had me back on the road in about 40 minutes! We are use to it taking hours to get help and then usually we have to be towed. Keith showed up within the first hour of being broken down and was able to get our truck working. Best mechanic shop I've been to in a while. Very professional people. I got put out of service because of my reefer trailer at the San Jon chicken coop and these guys came and rescued me and my equipment. They handled the problem I was having with ease, and it was a huge problem! I would definitely recommend these guys. Professional, convenient, affortable. Just great. I spent a little less then 24 hrs there. Forgot to mention, they fed me. They have this little lady named Meme. Great lady. She might even own the shop. This is an absolute gem in the middle of the desert. Driving cross country, 2nd day in, alarms and 3 different lights went off, horrible sound from front end. This was the closest service center. Wow did we get lucky! The ABSOLUTE BEST SERVICE we have ever had bringing our car in for repair. Wonderful owner, staff, price and fast service! Back on the road in a few hours after a hub assembly and brake pad replacement. The only down side is they don't have shop in Chicago. Totally tried to rip us off! Said we needed a $9000 motor replacement after saying we needed heads replaced to start with. Gave us a rip off $1800 bill for tear down and storage to get vehicle out of yard. Paid $3000 totow home because the mechanic wanted to buy for $500 plus the towing bill and I knew something was fishy! Paid $80 to resurfaced heads put it back together and it runs like a champ. Yes I am filing with Bureau of Auto Repairs and filing a lawsuit. read more

Sunday evening we was coming through San Jon and the EGR valve line had a hole in it. not knowing the area we looked for a place that would be open on Sunday-to get us fixed and back in the road. We pull in and they get to us right away find the problem. they had to wait to order the part Monday and turn out that it would not be in till Tuesday. Most People would be so upset us we are just thankful we was not stuck on the side of the road. But so much more than that Marlin (owner) said you guys just take my truck and go get you guys some breakfast. so knowing we was going to be here for awhile we took him up on it. So Tuesday they come to tell us the parts are in and so we pull into the shop and they get started only to find that they have to wrong part. But Marlin being old school hooked us up a hose that will temporarily work and would work for a long time but being in the over the road drivers he said he would have them fix it when we get home just to be safe. Well lunch time came around and they are still working on the truck and Marlin said come on we are going to lunch. He took us down to the senior center where they were having there annual thanksgiving/Christmas meal. Oh my everything was so good!! And all the people were so nice We felt like we were with our family. Mimi is such a sweet heart see is 92 6 weeks ago she broke her hip and she is up a going like she had never even broke it!! Can you say our GOD is a healer!!! I just met her today and love her so much already!! After we got back to the shop waiting for them to finish our Truck Mimi walks in with us some cookies ! We had to give her more hugs and a kiss on the cheek. That Lady is a walking testimony-of a real Christian Lady. She told us she will be praying for us and I know she will. Finally our truck is ready Marlin called Richard ( I will tell more about him in a minute) Bill and I in his office and we all held hands and prayed. So Richard he is a Trucker from Utah he has his own authority. But use to work with Landstar has Bill and I do know. We have often thought about going on our own but was so worried about taking that step. I do believe GOD puts people in your path to help you. We will see where that leads us.. We was stuck for 2 1/2 days and out 1,200.00 but the gift that all the staff and Marlin and Mimi gave us with all the love was worth every penny and more!! You see when you set your eyes on the problem and not on our GOD who knows all and is the one that will take care of all your needs. You are missing a big blessing!!!
