Being decently handy, I had an idea of how I might go about repairing it myself, but sought professional advice. The gentleman I talked to backed up what I had thought, and suggested I could do it myself, with the right parts. He pointed me in the right direction, and saved us $400, that we would have paid at the dealership. Excellent customer service, I'll definitely be returning if we need a mechanic to look at our car.

I would strongly caution motorists before trusting this shop with a major repair…read more In March 2024, I PAID MASTER MECHANIC TO REPLACE the flex/Y-pipe on my 2015 Infiniti QX60. Approximately 27 MONTHS LATER, I was advised that the same exhaust component needed to be replaced AGAIN. In my opinion, that is an unacceptable lifespan for a repair of this nature and raises serious questions about the quality of the part supplied, the installation, or the original repair. I retained the invoice and photographs and subsequently examined the components on the vehicle. Rather than reassuring me, what I found left me with MORE questions about exactly what was installed in 2024 and why I was facing the same repair again barely two years later. This is what concerns me most: customers generally cannot crawl underneath their vehicles and verify expensive repairs themselves. We PAY professional mechanics because we TRUST them to install the parts we paid for and perform the work competently. After this experience, that trust is gone. I brought my concerns directly to Frank, the Service Manager (Habib the owner refused to speak with me). Frank refused to answer any of my questions and did not provide an explanation. My advice to other motorists is simple: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. KEEP YOUR INVOICES. PHOTOGRAPH THE PARTS. ASK TO SEE WHAT WAS REMOVED. GET A SECOND OPINION. I would NEVER entrust another vehicle to this location.

BEWARE!!! SCAMMERS!!…read more I wouldn't trust this shop with a lawnmower, let alone my car. I bought winter rims and tires from them, and they sold me oversized rims that clearly didn't fit my vehicle properly -- just trying to unload last year's stock with no concern for safety or fit. After one winter of driving, I noticed extensive paint chipping all down the sides of my car, exactly where the rims were sticking out. Nathan, the manager, told me to go next door to another shop for a second opinion. That shop confirmed the damage was 100% caused by the oversized rims. I also confirmed with the rim manufacture that these rims were not meant for my car. Still, Nathan refused to take any accountability for it. On top of that, the TPMS sensors they sold me never worked. I had to visit three separate shops -- including theirs -- before they finally admitted they were faulty and gave me a refund for those too. I made over 50 phone calls, visited their shop multiple times, and it still took more than three months just to get my money back for the rims. And after all that, they still refused to cover any of the damage their negligence caused to my vehicle, costing me thousands in repairs. Unprofessional. Dishonest. Evasive. If you value your vehicle or your time, do not go here. They do not stand behind their products, they do not care about their customers, and they will leave you holding the bag when things go wrong.

My family has been going to Hide Auto Centre since I can remember. His specialty is Japanese cars (honda and toyota), but Hide Auto Centre also fixes european and american cars. Hide is an extremely nice man and very trusting. He never "overcharges" for ghost fees or tries to upsell you to do fix something random with your car. One thing that I really appreciate is that he always goes over the entire bill with you. He also will explain to you exactly what happened with the car--sometimes bringing you the broken piece--so you know what he's fixing. When you first walk into his small store-front, keep in mind that his waiting area is not a nice frily waiting area of an overpriced dealership repair shop, filled with a cappucino maker and an endless supply of day-old donuts. Remeber that you're paying to have your car fixed, not to be entertained while you wait. The waiting area is small, with only a few chairs. There's coffee available and a small tv to entertain yourself. It's probably a good idea to bring a book to read if you're going to wait.

Ever since then he was the man to go to for all your auto needs. What he says in terms of rates he never changes them during a job which is quite a great show of integrity and honesty. This is most likely the best shop in Devon area for your auto needs hands down. Second time around he replaced another piece on the other side of the muffler or a piece broke and he also added stabilizers that I had purchased at a auto shop for the front end and charge me a minimal price for that and did a great job and overall he always does great. Customer interaction was good. But I'm afraid it all ends there. I came to have my AC clutch replaced but prepared for potential upsale to complete compressor replacement as I understand most shops may find doing the clutch only as not worth the effort. I was presented a bill of over $300 for a 1.5 hours check, which is pretty much the cost of the compressor assembly (Standard quoted $180 with 6 mos warranty), which means I would be looking at over $1,000 at the end of the day. Full Review: Welcome to one of the best and respected local mechanic shop in Scarborough Ontario. Raymond Lee has over 30 years of experience in automotive repair, maintenance, performance modifications and customizations at fair prices. In fact at first sight you will be turned off by the humble industrial unit, crumbling tiled waiting room floor, and half-naked calendar girls hanging on the walls. As you peer through the door marked "customers cannot enter work area" you will be shocked by the mass of car parts stacked on shelves and the floor, the hanging florescent lights and the foreboding presence of mechanical chaos. If you have the stones to refrain from judging this book by its cover, you will not be disappointed. Gilman Auto has a large "fan-base" of intensely loyal customers throughout the Greater Toronto Area consisting of import enthusiasts, club racers and performance fanatics. The reason these folks and yours truly respect and admire Raymond is due to his honesty, high-quality work and the pride he and his staff put into their work. Not only does he provide quality service for a fair price, he stands by his work. Unlike the dealerships Raymond's bread and butter is repeat business and word-of-mouth recommendations to friends and family. Additionally Raymond doesn't just fix cars, he also competitively road races (in a recreational capacity) his own race prepared Honda Prelude as evidenced by the numerous trophies displayed in-store. He knows his stuff, from common (but often expensive) maintenance to full out performance builds on both imports and domestics. Bottom line is that Gilman Auto offers high quality, open and honest automotive services at very fair prices. Keep an open mind and look past the facilities, you'll be glad you did. Oh and for the record no one knows what he says when he picks up the phone ... could be "Gilman" or "good afternoon" or "Mel Lastman". Don't ask, just tell him that Jerry from the Prelude Club sent you :)
