Pine Trails Park is like the Swiss Army knife of parks--whatever you're into, it's got you covered…read more Want to hoop like LeBron? Courts. Want to bend it like Messi or Beckham? Fields. See if you can be the next Anthony Rizzo? Diamonds! Prefer to just "accidentally" jog a lap and call it marathon training? The walking trail is a mile and a half--perfect distance to earn that snack from the concession stand without breaking too much of a sweat. Parents, the playgrounds here are basically kid energy vacuums. Bring them in bouncing off the walls, take them home napping in the car. Win-win. And sometimes, if you're lucky, you'll catch live music at the amphitheater. It's like a mini Tortuga... if Tortuga had free parking and no sand! Speaking of parking--there's plenty, which is rare enough in South Florida to deserve its own round of applause. Honestly, Pine Trails is the kind of park that makes you forget you're in suburbia. Five stars, but could go to six if they ever add a margarita machine to the walking trail.

Chill enough to make you forget that your inbox exists. Clean, peaceful, and somehow still underrated--Lakeside Park is proof that not everything in Florida has to cost $25 a ticket and three hours in line. I have driven past it many times and curious to what it is about. It's a simple park , quiet and tranquil Despite the location. I came with my son, my friend and her daughter. There are so no playgrounds/stations for kids but they still loved it. It was beautiful. At one point on the walking trail there was a large bush that was drawing in a handful of butterflies. In the 1980's when the Oriole Homes Corporation was developing the Country Place residential community on the north side of Holmberg Road in Parkland they offered to buy something to decorate the park and make it memorable for the residents of the new community. Parkland Commissioners Maryjane Sexton and Bobbi Pugliese wanted something that embodied the country setting so they picked a covered bridge. The bridge was suppose to cross over water but they didn't have any it could span so instead it connects land that runs between two canals. The park was deeded to Parkland on October 18, 1989. There isn't a parking lot for this park since it was designed for use by the people who lived in the community. I parked in the strip mall across the street from Holmberg Rd. and took the short walk up. The park is accessible from Holmberg Road or Hillsboro Boulevard through a tree lined trail on the west side of Winners Circle. The trail runs between the canal and apartments and it connects Covered Bridge Park to 6-acre Park off of Hillsboro Boulevard. I love a covered bridge and this park is so tranquil. In addition to the lovely bridge perfect for photos and as a backdrop for picnics, the hiking trail that runs between the two parks is wonderful for getting exercise. On my stroll I saw turtles, butterflies, and birds. This is just another reason why the name of Parkland is perfect for this picturesque city.
