I've walked and driven by Sabal Pines Park many times, assuming it was just a sports park. Boy was I wrong! I had some extra time on my hands and decided to take a detour from my normal walk. What I found was, aside from the ballfields, roller hockey rink, and courts, there was a hidden walking trail (marked for 5 miles), gazebos, and small children's playground! Also, some preserve area where you could see what Coconut Creek's natural vegetation was like prior to home construction. Plenty of birds, butterflies, and even Mr Raccoon! I'm looking forward to a planned walk with updates...

This is the city of Coconut Creek's largest park. Located in the northern end of the city it sits in the middle of the residential neighborhood of Winston Park. Winston Park Elementary is on one side and a housing development surrounds the other sides. The park contains 9 athletic fields, 2 playgrounds, and a walking trail through pine flatwoods.. There are also picnic tables and a pavilion for hosting events. The City of Coconut Creek hosts a lot of events at this park. The largest is the Butterfly Festival held every February. It has vendors, activities for the kids, rides, a concert and it ends with a firework display. There isn't very much onsite parking at this park so when there is a festival they make you park off site like at Monarch High School and you have to ride a shuttle bus in. Other events include a movie in the park night. This month they showed the live action Beauty and the Beast. They also host concerts. The Van Halen tribute band Completely Unchained will be performing at a free concert on April 13th. A complete listing of events can be found on the City of Coconut Creek website. The City of Coconut Creek has a lot of great parks. On the day I visited which was a Monday afternoon this park was almost completely deserted except for a few families on the playground. I enjoyed bird and butterfly watching as I ticked off the last of my goal steps on my fitbit. It was a nice way to relieve the pressure of the day.

I would do it again next year. Its a driving experience. They had a sign of a station to listen to. I got static so I used mine. You have to stay inside the car. They had a bathroom stop halfway. It was around thirty dollars and you had the option of buying 3D glasses for $6, ouch a little overpriced for paper glasses. I did buy them lol. What the glasses did was that it added a figure to the lights. My glasses had snowman and if I moved they moved with me. It was cool. The snowman were everywhere. My son got candy cane. It was the same experience. The staff seemed to be enjoying themselves. Some really got into the holiday spirit. Everyone was very cheerful here. It was a happy atmosphere. I was glad I came.

Hounce houses, photo opportunities, pumpkin patch, pig races, hayrides and more! The kids and us had a blast. With the overwhelming amount of people that came, it never felt so crowded that you could not participate in what you wanted. Some lines, but not always. It was pretty well organized too. Props to the staff on that! The day was beautiful, and we got through everything we wanted to in the 3 hours we were there!

I have driven past it many times and curious to what it is about. It's a simple park , quiet and tranquil Despite the location. I came with my son, my friend and her daughter. There are so no playgrounds/stations for kids but they still loved it. It was beautiful. At one point on the walking trail there was a large bush that was drawing in a handful of butterflies. So lovely. My son is 8 and he has asked to go back multiple times.

In the 1980's when the Oriole Homes Corporation was developing the Country Place residential community on the north side of Holmberg Road in Parkland they offered to buy something to decorate the park and make it memorable for the residents of the new community. Parkland Commissioners Maryjane Sexton and Bobbi Pugliese wanted something that embodied the country setting so they picked a covered bridge. The bridge was suppose to cross over water but they didn't have any it could span so instead it connects land that runs between two canals. The park was deeded to Parkland on October 18, 1989. There isn't a parking lot for this park since it was designed for use by the people who lived in the community. I parked in the strip mall across the street from Holmberg Rd. and took the short walk up. The park is accessible from Holmberg Road or Hillsboro Boulevard through a tree lined trail on the west side of Winners Circle. The trail runs between the canal and apartments and it connects Covered Bridge Park to 6-acre Park off of Hillsboro Boulevard. I love a covered bridge and this park is so tranquil. In addition to the lovely bridge perfect for photos and as a backdrop for picnics, the hiking trail that runs between the two parks is wonderful for getting exercise. On my stroll I saw turtles, butterflies, and birds. This is just another reason why the name of Parkland is perfect for this picturesque city.
