This was the only board game store in town that I could find that had a good selection of Final Girl Board Game products. Actually it wasn't just good, it was a great selection. The store associates were exceptionally helpful. One of them played the game as well, and was able to show me a few things I didn't know and suggest a couple of products I hadn't thought of to get. The cost was fair for the products I bought. I'm also disabled and the aisles had plenty of room, for me and my wheelchair to be able to get around, which even in big chain stores can be a problem. Also, even though it's downtown, there are designated spots for the store. I highly recommend this store! read more

I went in to sell some cards (about 151 cards) and overall the experience was negative. They were condescending, rude, and aggressive with their questioning of my motives for selling my property. I don't collect and do not know much about the hobby. I wanted an expert opinion and if they had good offers I would sell. They told me it would take a few hours to price them out and they would call me. I had to call them two days later for them to tell me they had not done it yet. About 3 hours later they called me. I went back and they gave me a flat offer for all of the cards. I declined and said I would be willing to sell any of them individually and we can talk about those prices. That's when the interaction went from negative to borderline aggressive. They were blown away that I didn't take their first offer and when I inquired about individual prices for each card they became very uncomfortable and told me they graded all the cards using a machine and it had cost them 3 hours of labor to do it. They offered to sell me the information for the value of my cards (I declined). They also gave me a speech about how they despise buying and selling cards and they only do it to keep the lights on. They said they're just interested in playing games and hanging out (understandable for a board game store). I left out many other slimy details of their greasiness in favor of brevity. Overall, I do feel bad leaving a scathing review of a small businesses but not as bad as I felt walking out of TerraCrux after interacting with them. read more

I sporadically organized a game night at my house and completely forgot to verify if everyone invited knew how to play Magic: The Gathering or if they had plying cards. The service was phenomenal, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes with everything I needed. The Commander Starter decks ended up being great Christmas gifts for everyone that showed up. Not disabled friendly! I went in there with my walking stick and was told i couldn't have it in their store! I explained that i have bad knees and i need it to get around. that didn't matter to the very young clerk behind the counter, who made me leave it at the door. furthermore, he continued to follow me wherever i went in the store, asking if he could help me find something, even after i said i'd been there several times before. Not a pleasant shopping experience and in the future, i think i'll take my gaming dollars to other gaming stores. read more

If I could rate this place higher I would. This business is more than a structure, more than capitalism. Terracrux is a community. When I say that I mean that it's a family friendly environment. All walks of life are welcome at the store and somehow it's safe and welcoming and everyone looks out for each other here, cliche it may sound. But trust it's truth! We have been to many other games stores from mox in Seattle to northwest games, gabbys in Olympia, it just doesn't have that feel that welcoming vibe and safe nature tereacrux oozes. My biggest problem with gaming stores is you usually get one of two people greeting you as you walk in. Mall gaming stores who employ teenagers just in it for a job and who also know absolutely nothing about games or you get locally owned shops who typically employ people who are very shy, timid, or just not to personable and you don't get much help unless you speak their gaming language. That is not the case with TerraCrux, these guys are friendly as hell, knowledgeable, inviting and willing to walk around and tell you about every single game if you want them too. It is freaking perfect! Just went here for the first time and was walked around by one guy who told me about every single game in the shelf he could think of. Told me how good or bad games I was asked about were and even made recommendations on which games for which occasions I would be involved in. He honestly could not of been more helpful and this is huge for someone who is not up to date on the latest games or someone may not know what they're looking for. They have a great selection, lot's of tables in the back for gaming. They even have most of their games open for demo's and they even sit down with you to show you how to play almost every game in their shop. Seriously if you're looking for a gaming shop to find that perfect game for the night this is the place to go. Everyone working there was great and a pleasure to talk too. read more

I was trying to track down a game that I wanted give my brother but was having no luck. Options on Amazon were to have it ship in a month or pay twice as much! I then tried calling two other game stores in the area and they didn't have any copies. Terracrux not only looked it up in the system but double checked to make sure they actually had the copy. They put it aside for me so I could come pick it up later and the employees that helped me on the phone and in person were great! I went here a couple times. They have a big space downtown that is at the end of the Link light rail from the Tacoma Dome park 'n ride. Very easy to get to. Their prices are reasonable. They have a good selection and the staff is friendly and helpful. They have space for in store gaming and a library you can use to try games before you buy them. I've been a tabletop gamer for about a decade now, and my girlfriend and I have gone to virtually every store in the Puget Sound area. Terra Crux is without a doubt our favorite. Great prices (comparable to what you'd find on Amazon), great selection, huge selection of demos so you can try it before you buy it, huge space and tons of tables for playing, and the guy who owns it and runs it is a really nice and helpful dude.
