We were on the waitlist the entire 12 months of 2021. We moved into the complex Jan 2022. We're in…read moreour 70's so it was important to have yard and snow removal done for us. The complex was built in 1970-1980 so it has a cool "dated" vibe, but we love it. It has great soundproofing! Our apartment faces the freeway and we never hear traffic unless the windows are open. Cannot hear neighbors on either side; no tv or music. We can hear the gal upstairs if she walks across the floor, but it is just light creaking. It is a QUIET orderly complex; not a great place to have a lot of company or parties.

It also comes with awesome amenities such as a clubhouse with pool and fuse ball tables, a hot tub and sauna, and an outdoor pool. The landscaping is kept up very well, as well as repairs when needed. The reason for only two stars, is because the management is terrible. I am always, and have always been early or on time with rent, and until recently have never gotten any complaints. I have always taken pride in being a good tenant, and friendly with my neighbors. Recently, after just getting home from work (I work late and this was about 1:30 am), I sit down to dinner and TV show (happened to be a cartoon this night) with my boyfriend, and just a few minutes later someone POUNDS on our door. My boyfriend answers because I was too scared to, and quite honestly if he hadn't have been staying with me that night I would have called the cops and hid in the bathroom! The man outside was livid and yelling at my boyfriend for "playing our stereo way too loud". We were under the impression this man was crazy and/or intoxicated by the way he was acting. I found out the next day... He's my apartment manager! No phone call before pounding on our door, no legitimate reason as we are very mindful of the volume and have no surround sound or bass hooked up, and absolutely no professionalism in handling the matter. The community seems to be either elderly or mentally unstable here, and the management staff is not much different. They don't seem to like younger people much and are very unprofessional and unfriendly, to say the least. I would not recommend this place to anyone, unless you plan on just storing your belongings here and using the amenities, that is.

We rented our apartment over the phone and Grace picked the unit for us as we were out of state. She picked the perfect unit for our family and we have a nice view of Canfield Mountain. Nicole, the community manager, went out of her way to help my family when we were running late for our move in, you can tell she really cares about customer service. The apartment complex has a great mix of price, amenities, and ease of access to all of CDA. Thank you Fairwood staff for making my out of state transfer an easy and pleasant experience.

While the old management was excellent, the new management upped the price of our rent by $120 per month with only a month's notice. Worse, upon move-out, we were charged hundreds of dollars in repair fees for damages that were incurred to the apartment before we moved in, and significantly over-charged for repairs that were needed. Our previous lease had indicated that door repairs were typically $45-$75, we were charged $135. They even had the nerve to charge us for damages that didn't even exist when we moved out, claiming that things "broke" while they were cleaning. After numerous meetings with management about these issues we were were finally given "receipts" for the repairs, however the receipt for the aforementioned door was actually just a print-out of a product web page from a supplier. Since the door in question was to a supply unit on the apartment's balcony, visible from the walking trail below, I was able to verify that the door they replaced was different to the door they claimed to have purchased, and was in fact a cheaper door. Unfortunately, this was after having paid their repair costs. Due to the deceptive and predatory practices of Fairwood's new management, I cannot recommend renting there. Stay away at all costs.
