Greedy management company and no amenities. It keeps getting worse and worse each year.

Our family recently lost our mother, and as the administrator of her trust, I used part of the…read moreinheritance to purchase a home for my sister through Clayton Homes in Evans, Colorado. As a real estate professional with over 20 years of experience and licensure in multiple states, I can say without hesitation that this was the most unprofessional and frustrating transaction I have ever encountered. Our sales representative and project manager, Justin Markwardt, initially promised that permit applications would be submitted in December 2024. In reality, they were not submitted until late February 2025. The home was to be placed on property in Adams County, which has a clear minimum square footage requirement. Justin failed to inform us that the home we selected and purchased was 60 square feet too small, which resulted in the permit being denied. Throughout the process, Justin was frequently unavailable--often "out of the office" due to personal matters or on vacation--and rarely responded to calls or emails. When I finally reached him to ask for his supervisor's information, he either could not or would not provide it. I eventually located Brent Barnard at another location, but his follow-up was equally poor. The solution offered to us was to purchase a larger, more expensive home to meet the county's requirements--adding thousands of dollars to the cost. Even after this change, I had to repeatedly and proactively follow up to ensure Justin submitted the updated permit application. At every step, he shifted blame to Adams County rather than taking responsibility for delays or oversights. When we first purchased, we were told the home would be completed by March 2025. This was a cash purchase, and every requested payment was made immediately. Despite repeated assurances that the home would be ready for move-in, we are still waiting for the final Certificate of Occupancy. The level of disorganization, lack of accountability, and disregard for customer service at this location is staggering. If you are considering working with Clayton Homes in Evans, Colorado--proceed with extreme caution or, better yet, avoid them entirely.

Wow, I don't know where to start. I couldn't even get them to come out and take a look. The short…read moreversion--if you are in trouble I would look elsewhere. This happened just today. Our air system is out and we have pets and young kids so getting it fixed is a priority. When I called them their system pushed me to text with them, which I did. The conversations went overall well, and they were going to get back to me later in the day. Hours later with nothing, I text back. Answer--they have been really busy. I could wait or call if I wanted--not exactly useful. My wife called and the dispatcher claimed straight up that the person she was speaking to was personally handling those messages all day, but for some reason mine didn't exist. Wait, what? I just texted you 5 minutes before she called so it clearly wasn't you. I texted back and asked why two different people were claiming they were talking to me, and the response that I got was that they would get back to dispatch to deal with the confusion (not dealing with the identity mix up), and that I could pay double for an emergency call. Finally the texts changed, and someone new introduced me and informed me that I was talking to their useless AI system all day, which is incredibly irresponsible to do and not disclose. So, yea, we have wasted an entire day talking to their stupid AI system (without knowing it), and it was happy to tell me what I wanted to hear for hours (in an 87 degree house) without actually providing me assistance. Best news? They told me that they could still get to me on Monday--only three more days of 90 degree indoor heat! If I could go back I would certainly call someone else. Edit: Called a company in a neighboring town. They had someone here within an hour. The part that needed replacement was obvious, and someone could have picked it up today if I hadn't dealt with this dishonest garbage. Now I have to wait until Monday because it is tool late in the evening to order it. So, cool, they have officially messed us up through at least Monday (assuming everything goes OK).
