Terrible quality . Be careful what you buy . Dairy is often expired . I bought a fig Jam with the brand Marco Polo. I thought it was Italian and a good quality . When I opened it it tasted terrible , impossible to eat . Looking carefully I realized it was from Bulgaria . I went back to return it for a better product and they refused it to take it back. They offered me half of the credit which is ridiculous... it's not about the price of the item but it was nevertheless offensive . I am leaving a bad review, because of the terrible costumer service I have just experienced. There is no email to contact the management, only the store number. So I am leaving a public review instead of a message to the management. The cashier lady give me a receipt to sign for $1.39. The bill was $61.39. I pointed out to her that this was wrong. She went back and forth and argued that my card was bad. Another employee came and the store manager lady came, who cut me off in a disrespectful manner, while I tried to explain to her that I was the one pointing out to the cashier, that she must have made a mistake and entered the wrong amount. I saved the store $60 and they acted as if I wanted to only pay $1.39 and get away with it or my card was bad. I was concerned to swipe the card again for the remaining $60, because I did not want to be charged twice, in case I was actually charged the full amount. We got into an argument. I asked the cashier lady to apologize but she ignored me and did not say a word. I used to shop here all the time. But they lost a costumer today. read more

Absolutely love this store! I come here twice a week before heading back to jersey just for the fresh produce alone. The prices are amazing and if you ever need help the guys at the front are friendly and always there. In the back is a refrigerated dairy section and now downstairs is boxed goods.... Why this place is Stiles 2.0 1) Better hours (omg I can come here after work!!) 2) Cleaner (I don't have to be grossed out if someone bumps into me with their shopping basket) and better lighting so it doesn't feel like I'm in a dungeon 3) More selection (there's pickles ~$1.27, roasted peppers, dried pastas, sauces, snacks. while they still have $2 egg cartons, $1 herbs, coffee beans, bread, cheap fruits and veggies based on season) I think the prices are a teeeeeeny bit more expensive than Stiles used to be, but still very very reasonable compared to chain grocery stores around the area. Not sure how packed this place gets on the weekends but weeknights are pretty good! read more

This place is amazing!!!!!! I was so sad when stilles market closed, but then terra market appeared and my life changed. Talk about eating healthy in the city! This place makes eating healthy and getting groceries painless... And CHEAP. Now I don't have to venture all the way to trader joes and get pushed around by hundreds of New Yorkers. Apples are usually 99cents/lb Cantaloupe 1.99 Broccoli, spinach, cherry tomatoes... You name it... They probably have it for cheap. Oh and did I mention their service is excellent? I was on my way somewhere and wanted to grab 2 apples but I was 25cents short and the lady working there said to just come back another time to pay them back! It's much cheaper than a local supermarket and I have never been disappointed by quality. I was rooting for Terra Market since I moved to Hell's Kitchen, seeing how small businesses are being killed by the chain stores (not always without their own fault). But it seems that the quality and price combination is working - they've recently refurbished the store and added more space, which is very welcome. I'm buying all of my produce there and so far I am very satisfied. Some of the previous commenters complained about the rudeness of the staff - well, it's not Whole Foods or Trader Joe's and they are not getting any customer service training. Hence the problems, I guess, but I don't care much - I like this store and I'm gonna miss it when I move in few months! read more

Used to like this place after stiles was gone, price has gone up a lot through out the year some items have become competitive with Whole Foods price which is a really bad sign, big apple next door is cheaper like other reviews mentioned, especially with the new opening of the new stiles farmer market down on 37th 9th Avenue, this has become my backup store at night if I need something urgent, otherwise I will stick to Stile read more

Good quality produce, affordable prices. Perhaps the biggest draw, for me, is their herb selection. You can get a nice bunch of rosemary, parsley, sage, basil, etc. for around $1. Decent pantry selection downstairs but the herbs and produce are the big draw for me. They also sell USA garlic, not that bleached crap from China that you'll find in most small markets in NYC. read more

Went on a Tuesday afternoon which was not too busy and they had really nice and fresh vegetables and fruit in store. Also had a downstairs area with coffee, canned goods, snacks and basic cooking and household things. Highly recommend this shop... and it is conveniently right behind the port authority bus terminal (good for those commuting by bus or subway.) read more

Total rip off. Prices are very high and quality lousy. I was in there today because I wanted some broccoli rabe for a recipe. It's always expensive but this was too much. It was all STEMS. Big thick stems that you must throw out because they are so tough. In other words you are paying for what you can't eat. When I got up to the counter, this snotty guy I have run into before was checking out. It came to nearly $4 for a small bunch. I said to him, at these prices you should cut the stems down because we are paying for what we must throw out. It's ridiculous. He said to me FUCK YOU...Rest assured I replied in kind! Should have thrown it in his face. Everything there is outrageous. Go to 52nd Street to Stiles...it's much cheaper. Trader Joe's for other things far cheaper. Stay away, you will just be screwing yourself! Never again. I would rather walk a mile than be ripped off! Same with the stinking Food Emporium on 43rd and 10. read more

Prices used to be good and cheap. Now, certain items are as expensive as Whole Foods. Very rude and nasty staff, especially the male cashiers. For better prices and way more pleasant staff go next door to Big Apple Meat Market or down the street to Stiles Farmers Market at (9th Ave/37th St). I happened upon this place while looking for something different to have for lunch, and I've been hooked ever since. Definitely have added this to my list of spots for fresh fruits/veggies, and I think it's fabulous that it's located in Midtown West/Hell's Kitchen. The prices are very affordable, although I don't get all my stuff here. Keep an eye on the $1 bag section - last week I got a cantaloupe and this week I got yellow peppers, a potato and a beet! Whatever they put in the bag is $1. The store is very organized and well-labeled, and the staff is pleasant and hard-working. You can also order for delivery ($10 minimum), but they don't have an order list so you can just check off what you want, which is something I hope they create in the near future. It's all right but not as impressive in terms of quality and variety as stiles farmers market on 52nd and 9th. Maybe it was just that I visited in the evening hours but the produce didn't look fresh at all. Haven't gone back there ever since but never felt the need to anyway since Stiles is right around the corner. read more

Terra, opened by Stiles employees when the Stiles closed, may be similar like a zebra is similar to a horse but it's the only place in the neighborhood to buy produce, except for the market next door where items are visible and self-select, but iffy. BUYER BEWARE ALERT: if you buy a "bargain bag" from their $1.00 reduced for clearance miscellany, thinking it is merely bruised, blemished or smallish merchandise you may be buying garbage that should have been trashed and is artfully arranged so you don't see the rot. My experience, I bought two bags of apples and pears, the visible portion totally acceptable for eating or cooking, but had to throw out most of them, rotten throughout. I should have brought it back but I tried to call, their number was inoperable though they publish it for free delivery. It's a new business and cheating customers on any level isn't the way to run it. read more

Some of the staff from Stiles (41st & 9th Ave) moved down here after Stiles closed down to make way for yet another highrise. Smaller store but much better hours. Initially had some of the cheapest prices in the city (including Chinatown) but high rents might be taking their toll. Also their produce is insulated during the summer months when the street vendors' stuff can suffer from the heat. read more

This place is awesome because they specialize in fruits and vegetables. They have other products as well. They also have fresh herbs (dill, celantro, parsely, mint, basil, and others) on the cheap! They are always making this place better by stocking new items, expanding their shelves to hold more thing and their staff are very nice and helpful. Check this place out. read more
