The grounds were picturesque, the photographer kept remarking how easy his job was with the lovely background. The cocktail hour was held in the newly renovated barn space and was a hit. We used the space both to serve refreshments and as a dance floor. Having everything on site made the planning and execution easy. The event space has the added benefit of the ability to host guests on-site. My family traveled from China and despite coming from a big city, they felt at ease in this rural, upstate New York farm house. It was exceptionally clean, the fridge and stove are brand new, and there is plenty of space in this sweeping home. A great venue, I can't recommend enough!

We had originally wanted to stay in the lodge building, but it wasn't open yet for the season. It's just as well, we had a delightful time in the main house. We were the only guests, since it was a misty, chilly weekend (we were up to visit friends). The owners are helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Cranberry Room ... I feel like the web site photos do not do the room justice. The furniture is very nice, without the lace and frills of too many B&Bs. The queen bed was comfortable enough ... we didn't sleep well, but I don't blame the bed, I think we just sleep best in our own bed! The house itself retains a lot of its original 19th century details, like original hardware, so if you like "old houses", you'll like this one. Breakfast in the morning was right on time, and delicious. Special mention goes to the views - this area is gorgeous, even on a rainy March/April weekend. I would definitely come back. The only negative I can think of is that the road leading to the house is not paved, which may present a problem, especially at the bottom of the hill. (It's also badly marked, but so are many roads in the region). The drive for the house is not paved, either, but I felt like that went with the country atmosphere, so I'm not sure it's a detriment. For the price, and the area, a great value, and a wonderful stay.

There are dead trees galore and those that aren't dead haven't been pruned in decades. The wooden fences are all falling down and the bridges are in such a state of disrepair as to be scary. One of the ponds is covered in scum and another gets so low that it reeks. Pond and stream banks looking a bit unkempt? Herbicide them all. Geese on the greens? Hire a buddy to shoot them. The cut grass is left in yellowing clumps. Any asphalt, concrete, downed trees, tees or busted balls just get dumped on the perimeter. Absolutely terribly maintained over the years. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it mushy with 1/2 cooked dough but usually it's ok. The bar scene is pleasant but the mixed drinks are small. They have a decent selection of beers. The decor is standard for a local pizza/bar/music establishment and the staff has always be attentive in my experience. The manager is a great guy. They usually have a band or group on Fridays ranging from local talent to some pretty serious high quality acts. Always fun and it's not an expensive nite out so thumbs up for that.

A black board with $5.99 lunch special written on it intrigued me for my frugal and good deals eye! Outside there highlighted Soul food by Muffer's Kitchen. The lunch special offered a main dish or fried chicken, pulled pork or one more option which I forgot and it comes with a wide variety of one side to choose from and automatically comes with corn bread. I chose the mac and cheese side which had a strong cheese taste like cream cheese, and they only had fried chicken available. It was quick to come out and comes in a take out box, but you can sit there. The corn bread had actual corn in it and was sweet and soft and moist in a shape of a cube. The fried chicken was fresh and hot and big with a connected chicken drum to a breast. I also think they have Caribbean food, but it's just mostly Southern black food which is known as Soul food and is very comforting! It was very quiet cause there was only one other customer. I believe it's more busy at night, hence it being a bar. Overall, I was very satisfied and plan to come again!
