The Best Cake Artist We Could Have Asked For…read more If I could give Laura and Creations By Laura more than five stars, I absolutely would. Laura created two cakes for our family--one for our parents' 50th wedding anniversary and another for our nephew's birthday--and both were nothing short of extraordinary. Planning a 50th anniversary celebration is stressful because you want everything to be perfect for people who mean so much to you. The cake is often the centerpiece of the celebration, and Laura absolutely exceeded every expectation we had. The anniversary cake was elegant, beautifully designed, and tasted every bit as incredible as it looked. It truly was the crowning jewel of an unforgettable day. What impressed me even more was Laura's professionalism. She had another large event in a different town that same day, yet she never made us feel like we were competing for her time or attention. Everything was organized, on schedule, and executed flawlessly. One moment that really stood out was hearing the staff at Balducci Vineyards compliment how seamless and professional Laura was to work with during delivery and setup. When one outstanding vendor takes the time to praise another, you know you're working with someone exceptional. Laura isn't just incredibly talented--she is kind, thoughtful, responsive, and genuinely cares about making your event special. She pays attention to every detail and takes tremendous pride in her work, and it shows. Our family will cherish the memories from our parents' 50th anniversary forever, and Laura's beautiful cake will always be part of those memories. She also created a fantastic cake for our nephew that brought so much joy to his celebration. If you're looking for someone who creates stunning cakes, delivers exceptional customer service, and truly cares about her clients, look no further than Creations By Laura. I recommend her without hesitation and will gladly trust her with every special occasion our family celebrates in the future. Thank you, Laura, for sharing your incredible talent and helping make two of our family's celebrations so memorable. You are truly one of the best.

My husband and I came up for Garlic Fest and walked around town. We found this not-so-hidden gem…read moreand had to go in because of the biscuits and gravy signage outside. This is my husband's favorite breakfast. The biscuits and sausage gravy were amazing, in my husband's expert opinion. ( having consumed this dish almost everywhere) I had 'just avocado toast' (their no egg version) and it was very good. I suspect the bread was freshly baked and not from a commercial bakery. Now let's talk about the important thing. The coffee. They have a coffee, hot or iced called the 'Sweet Bourbon Brew'. I figured I was unlikely to get freshly roasted coffee with bourbon syrup from the nearby distillery anywhere else and went for it. It is AMAZING. I would come back just for this. Now, the restaurant itself. Live music on a Saturday morning. Kitschy, eclectic decor that was obviously quite intentional, and a DOLLY PARTON CORNER that has obviously existed for quite some time. Their motto appears to be a Dolly Parton quote. "If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours". Yes. It's that kind of place. They also seem to be attempting to control their carbon footprint.

Bourbon Café and Coffee Saloon is a charming little local café with an inviting, homey atmosphere…read morethat makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. It's the kind of place you instantly know you'll want to return to. This was our first time here and we were go glad we made the little trip down to Bourbon, MO! We ordered the bacon and egg panini, and it was cooked perfectly. Whatever homemade seasoned butter they use deserves special recognition--it added so much flavor and made an already great sandwich even better. Of course, the dessert case was impossible to ignore. Everything looked incredible, and choosing was no easy task. We finally settled on a pecan brownie and a sea-salt chocolate chip gooey butter cake slice. Both were fantastic, but the gooey butter cake completely stole the show. Hands-down, it was the absolute best gooey butter cake I have ever had--and I've tried many from plenty of bakers over the years. This single slice may have changed my outlook on life. They've set the bar so high that I honestly don't know how anyone else could top it. Warmed up just as the owner suggested, it was melt-in-your-mouth perfection with a tender, flaky crust and incredible flavor. Absolutely phenomenal. We will definitely be back again--and you should go too!
