I used to pop in a few times while living here. It offers great fresh looking /tasting food but…read moreshuts around 4 like most places around here.. Luckily we had booked this time , as it was rammed..this place needs to expand as I found it especially suffocating today...all the tables and chairs are crammed together, so their waitresses have to be anorexic to work here...I'm.not kidding.. Sitting down I had a gander at the drinks menu..this was very limited..when I asked for a white wine spritza the waitress looked at me baffled and suggested i could make my own as they don't do them.. The food consisted of burgers, lasagne, wraps, soups, sandwiches and tapas...well I say tapas but there were maybe five different dishes to try from..the salads are really tasty but I've always had a salad here. My companions decided to order the lasagne to be later told it was not available...(why was this information not provided when we first Sat down) so we all opted for a veggie burger.. When it arrived it was pleasant ..but I have had worse I have had better..also the chips were not home made... Snaffling this we chose the lemon and a caramel cheesecake to finish. Here we had to wait for ages for our plates to be cleared because the staff were too busy making out with each other..really professional..and when the waitress finally decided to serve us she placed the fresh drinks down without taking the emptys with her..so our table was left cluttered.. The lemon cheesecake was divine..but this place is very overrated..the menu.is limited, the place is crammed and they stop serving food at 16:00..oh and most of waiters were rubbish..I think I will try Blue Sky again..

Yes it's good , slight flaws but on the whole it's good…read more Firstly it's let down a little by it crockery , although it looks nice and artisan . It's chipped of the glazing is cracked ! Secondly it's let down by its opening hours and not open at night This is a great place for breakfast and lunch with healthy ish meals and amazing tapas with divine salad . It's price range is shall we say manchester prices for a essentially a cafe Also do take aways

We're a family of 4 Vegans and we decided to give Voltaire a go after reading lots of positive…read morereviews. I can honestly say that it exceeded our expectations and then some! Firstly, the restaurant and its location: Voltaire is situated near to Bangor pier. It's an attractive, bohemian restaurant with Moroccan style colours and furnishings but with a few modern twists thrown in like skateboard decks on the walls in place of the usual wooden carvings. It's a relaxing, cosy place to eat and a lovely place to spend a few hours. The staff: All of the staff were super-friendly, attentive but somehow still totally chilled! They were really helpful when we were choosing from the menu and genuinely seemed excited by the food that they offered. The food: Obviously I'm saving the best bit to last with this review! What can I say about the food? Well, it's not a "wholefood" menu like the veggie restaurants of old that's for sure. Voltaire's menu is so naughty that you have to pinch yourself to remember that it's 100% Vegan! The initial difficulty is choosing as everything sounds sooooo tasty. When we eventually decided what we wanted we went for: * 'The Voltaire Burger' - Their homemade burger which is topped with mushrooms in a white wine sauce. * 'The Big V BLT' - Again, their homemade burger but this time topped with to-die-for Vegan bacon. * 'The Howlin' Wolf Platter' - This is under their 'Table Picnic' menu and is a sharing platter which two of us devoured and which the other two kept jealously pinching things from! It comes with 2 x cheeseburgers, mac n cheese, sticky Vegan ribs, southern fried tofu plus fries, salsa and coleslaw as sides and a few huge onion rings. It was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and every bit of it tasted beautiful. For dessert two of us had: * 'The Rocky Road Sundae' - This had layers of chocolate brownie with marshmallows, ice cream, skinny Oreos and squirty cream and was fantastic. Drinks: * They had sold out of cider so I had a Conwy black IPA which was great. They had other beers too. * Voltaire has an extensive wine and cocktail menu. For "dessert" I had a Mojito which was really good and a nice way to finish what was a very special meal. Summary: Voltaire is an absolute gem. A Vegan wonderland nestling by the seaside. We can't wait to go back and try some of the other treats their menu has to offer!

Positives: -Cosy space -Named after Voltaire. -Vegan; an usual find in a small town like Bangor. Negatives: -Voltaire used to have a great menu, my favourite item was the seitan skewers. They've since removed these and I can't find anything I like on the menu. It's all overly fried and fatty. Overall there are more positives than negatives. I will return, but please bring back the seitan skewers!
