We recently stopped off in Porthmadog to break a long trip and looking for a light snack we came across Jenny's. At the front it's a cafe and through a door at the back is a restuarant. This was mid morning so presumably the restaurant was closed so be found seats in the cafe.
It's obvious that much of the food is home made, top quality and locally sourced. We opted for sausage rolls which were very nice but we could have chosen from a range of snacks including freshly cooked breakfasts. Star of the show was a row of incredible looking home made cakes, included quite possibly the largest lemon meringue I've ever seen. There were also some very nice looking takeaway meals including curries and the like.
The only let down was the 'cutlery', i.e. the cheap plastic knives and forks. My fork actually melted inside my sausage roll, which admittedly was very hot, and my knife began to break into pieces which meant I had to fish tiny bits of plastic out of my food before I could eat it. read more
