Diavolo pizza, sparkling and Weinstephaner beer

Great service, cool bar and reallly good pizza. It's not super spicy but the dough is gorgeous and fluffy and chewy. Add some olive oil to the plate to mop up with the crust.

Outdoor heaters in the winter Friendly service, loud get together vibes Pizza size: enough to feed 2-3 people. Favorite dish: eggplant. Tasty wine and wonderful flavor on the tiramisu Great options for vegetarians Thanks!

We hosted a team dinner at Terun recently. Logistically, the setup works well as there's a decent-sized parking lot right behind the restaurant, and they offer outdoor seating with heaters, which is great during the winter months. Johani was our host for the evening, and he did an amazing job throughout. He was attentive, thoughtful, and professional, and handled the table well. A small but very appreciated detail: when I ordered dessert to go, he kindly packed the fresh berries separately from the panna cotta so the liquid wouldn't make it soggy a level of care that didn't go unnoticed. Unfortunately, the evening didn't start on the best note. One of the first dishes brought out farro and calamari had a housefly in it, which was clearly off-putting. To their credit, the staff replaced the dish promptly, but it wasn't the best way to kick off a team dinner. This was a two-course meal plus dessert. First course: Brussels sprouts - decent, nothing standout Calamari - good in flavor, though the earlier incident impacted the experience Baked cauliflower - about 3.5/5 from the table Grilled romaine - a table favorite and one of the better dishes Second course: Terùn pizza - my pick, and a solid 4/5 Tricolore pizza, rigatoni, and pollo piccante - feedback from the team put these at around 3/5 Dessert: Caramel gelato with salt and olive oil - very good and well balanced Tiramisu - classic and satisfying (takeaway item and not part of the dinner) Lemon panna cotta with fresh berries - light, refreshing, and nicely done, with thoughtful packaging for takeaway (takeaway item and not part of the dinner) Overall, Terun has a nice ambiance, convenient location, and excellent service, but the food execution was inconsistent, and the early hygiene issue set an unfortunate tone. With better consistency, this could be a much stronger dining experience.

By no means a bad spot but not the best Italian food in the Bay. I loved the atmosphere of the store so much. There was live music outside, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and a cozy ambiance inside. I visited on a Monday evening, and it was absolutely packed, which was impressive. I had high hopes for this place because several people had recommended it to me. I'm not sure if it lived up to the hype. The red beets gnocchi was delicious. The signature pink color was super fun, and it tasted rich and creamy. There was plenty of taleggio and gorgonzola, so it was a cheese lover's dream. The porcini pizza, on the other hand, was not as stellar. I was really excited for the truffle oil, and there was a fragrant flavor. However, the porcini mushrooms were unexpectedly cold, and as a result, a bit slimy. The pizza itself did not have much flavor outside of the truffle oil, and the crust was quite cold and hard. In general, the pizza was not the most pleasant thing to eat. I have heard lots of good things about this place, so I would come back and try some other dishes.

Creme Brûlée

My friend and I visited on a Saturday night recently, and surprisingly there wasn't much people. We've seen this place on yelp so many times and was excited to try. We sat down and ordered a San Daniele pizza and a Lasagne. Our orders came like 5 minutes after we order which we were very shocked about. Then realized the pizza and lasagne was pretty much just lukewarm. Lasagne was pretty salty and didn't have much depth in flavor. The pizza was also a bit disappointing as it was kind of dry and we wished the flavors of the ingredient blended well together. It seemed like they just threw the ingredients on baked it for a minute and gave it to us. Our food ended up being cold 10 minutes in. We were celebrating my friend's birthday and they were so nice to have given us a Creme Brûlée on the house. The servers are so nice and sweet. Not sure if I would ever come back. I'm quite confused on why this restaurant has such high overall ratings and 2k reviews when the food quality was much lower than expected. I hope some improvements can be made.

We have eaten here many times- first time reviewing. Everything was delicious- some of my favorites are farro and calamari, schiacciata pizza, fried calamari, caramel gelato with sea salt and olive oil. We sat in the covered back patio- nice ambiance. Service was great.

Located on California Ave, parking is plentiful but availability is limited. There's a lot of seating both indoors and outdoors. Terun pizza (4/5): so yummy. The crust was soft and cheesy but a bit soggy from the sauce. The toppings were good though. I really like the sausage and it wasn't too salty. The cheese was delicious too. Overall, Terun Pizza is a nice place for some delicious Italian food. Their menu has good variety and the outdoor seating is nice.

Had a blast at Terun! We went for a work happy hour with a group of four and, even though it was pretty busy, we were seated quickly. One of my colleagues and I shared the Diavola pizza, and it was perfectly crispy and thin-crusted. My friend ordered the Cacio e Pepe which they brought out a whole cheese wheel for. I joked with our server about how I'd always loved the idea of a cheese wheel because of the fun presentation. He then literally insisted I get up and do the cheese wheel myself lol. At first, I thought he was just messing around, but he was totally serious, and it turned out to be so fun! My coworkers loved the interactive twist of me making their meal and we all enjoyed the experience. It's definitely a cooking bucket list item checked off. The overall atmosphere was so lively, with awesome servers and yummy food. I'll definitely be back here for another post-work team event!

Terun Pizza is a quaint restaurant on cal ave that offers pizza, pasta and Italian entrees. We came to Terun on a Tuesday night and they were able to seat us immediately. The dinner crowd came and the indoor and outdoor seating filled up pretty quickly. The ambience is okay a little too dark and the indoor seating felt cramped. The food was unfortunately nothing to write home about. I felt like it was incredibly overpriced for the quality of the dishes. The pizza was not crispy and had the texture of it, needing to be cooked for a bit longer because the dough had a raw consistency the calamari was breaded well and they actually gave a lot of squid for an appetizer, but it was incredibly salty like you cannot even eat one piece without chugging a glass of water the raviolis were probably on the taste your side of what we ate. They did get our order wrong so we did actually end up getting to try two types of raviolis. The truffle was probably the tastiest. It was the most balance, not over salted, and the ravioli dough had a nice al dente, but for the ravioli, short ribs, the pasta was way too thin, so the ravioli was breaking in the short rib on the inside was also incredibly salty. I know that Italian food tends to be actually super salty in Italy. I just wasn't expecting it at this restaurant specifically So in that aspect it is authentic in that aspect. The service was great though everyone was super kind, and the bathrooms were incredibly clean. There are tables around the bathroom, though, which when people go in and out, kind of ruins, the dinner due to the smell. Overall, I'm glad I got to try Terun pizza, but I will not be coming back due to the price of the food and quality.

Great vibes!! Came here to celebrate bday in family!! This definitely didn't disappoint!! I did reservation a day earlier. We tried 3 of their vegetarian pizzas and reordered margarita again. As a vegetarian I was surprised with lots of options here. Pizzas came quickly and were devoured quickly as all of them tasted great's Tried their cauliflower au gratin!! It had two varieties of cauliflowers and it tasted delicious. Kids and adults loved the pizzas. For desserts we had tiramisu and gelato. Both were great! I will definitely be back to eat some delicious Pizzas and the vibe!!

FRITTURA DI CALAMARI - 4/5

It had been over three years since our last visit, and after hearing my older son rave about his recent experience with his girlfriend, we decided to give this restaurant another try. We went on a Thursday night, and there was a street fair nearby, so the whole street was blocked and very busy. We put our name down around 7 PM and were told the wait would be 30 to 45 minutes. Not long after, less than five minutes actually, we got a text that our table was ready. We were seated inside, and it was extremely loud, almost uncomfortably so. The table next to us had a large group gathering, which added to the noise, but there wasn't much we could do. We ordered calamari to start, two pizzas, two pastas, a sparkling red wine I saw recommended on Yelp, and a beer. The food arrived fairly quickly. * Calamari: Really good, with some tentacles included, which I liked best. I would give it 4 out of 5. * Tri-Color Pizza: Thin crust, crispy, and no soggy bottom. Definitely 5 out of 5. * Porcino Mushroom Pizza: Also very good. I would give it 5 out of 5. * Risotto of the Day: The flavor was excellent, 5 out of 5, but the rice was a little too al dente for me, so I would rate it 4 out of 5. My husband really enjoyed it and finished the whole dish. * Rigatoni Pasta: It was okay, not bad but not memorable, so I would give it 3 out of 5. * Tiramisu: 3 out of 5 this time. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did on our last visit. * Lemon Panna Cotta: Very good, I would give it 4 out of 5. The sparkling red wine, Lambrusco, was delicious and highly recommended. Our whole table enjoyed it, and I am going to see if I can find a bottle to enjoy at home. Overall, the food was excellent, which is why I am giving this visit a five-star rating. The only downside was how loud it was inside, so next time I will try to request an outdoor table.

terun is one of those places i keep coming back to because it is consistently comforting and good. we ordered the margherita pizza, beet gnocchi, and branzino. the pizza and gnocchi are my go-to dishes, and they never disappoint. the beet gnocchi, in particular, feels like ultimate comfort food and is rich and satisfying without being heavy. the sea bass was simply prepared and nicely balanced. we had a bottle of the rhyton cab 2022. the wine was good, but it was probably not the best pairing for what we ordered. for dessert, we had the tiramisu and panna cotta. i always love the tiramisu here. the panna cotta was good as well, though it was a bit sweeter than my preference. overall, it is easy, cozy, and reliable italian food that is hard not to love.

We returned to terun because they have a heated covered patio. During our visit, we tried a variety of dishes, and the food was simply great! Much much better than my previous visit. Perhaps large time the large group overwhelmed the ordering. We ordered the vegetarian pizza and the tricolore. The vegetarian pizza was incredibly delicious. It was so tasty that I completely forgot to take a photo. The farro and calamari were also tasty, and the burrata small plate was a delightful addition. The tiramisu was lovely, but I would have liked it to be a bit firmer.

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Would come back again but also if you're conscious of budget then I'm not sure if you'll find the same value proposition.

Food: 3 / 5 Service: 3 / 5…read more Ambiance: 2 / 5 Let's start off by making sure that we're all on the same page... This is NOT a speakeasy. Using that language sets up an expectation that neither the ambiance nor the vibe is able to live up to. I can only assume that those reviews that commend this place as a speakeasy have never actually been to a real speakeasy and are more accustomed to box restaurants and bars. I sat at the bar and ordered a bourbon neat with a water back. There were three staff members behind the bar, none of them were particularly friendly or outgoing, which as someone who worked in the industry for years is surprising as a new establishment. Even though it was happy hour time, it was a Wednesday the place was less than half full and good servers /bartenders normally add to the experience and help creat a customer base of regulars to sustain business after the "come see" crowd is over. I ordered d' nuts as a snack and they weren't very special, even a bit overcooked / burnt. Maybe this place is exciting for a Palo Alto crowd that doesn't get out much, especially on the stretch of California given the lack of competition. My guess is that after a few months they will be hard-pressed to find a steady crowd.

I got 2 quesobirria tacos and 2 tacos al pastor, and visually everything looked on point -- the plating was clean, tacos looked well-stuffed, and the birria tortillas had that nice golden crisp. But once we started eating, we all felt the same thing: the salsas were lacking flavor. And with tacos like these, good salsa takes everything to the next level. Here, it kind of held them back. They only gave me two tiny lime pieces, and I couldn't even get enough juice out of them to brighten up the tacos. Something so simple, but it makes a huge difference. We also asked for chips and salsa (they're not free), and they never came. Honest mistake -- they were cool about it and took it off the bill -- but still, it added to the overall experience. Another thing: the nopales weren't well cooked or prepped. They had that slightly tough, raw texture instead of the tender, seasoned bite they should have. Flavor-wise, the pastor and birria were decent, but with weak salsa and barely any lime, it felt incomplete. All four of us agreed on the same thing: This place could be great if they tighten up their salsas and the little details. I'd give them another shot someday because the base is there -- they just need that extra punch of flavor to really elevate their tacos.

I would say it feels like a tavern for wealthy noblemen in 1800s England. Allow me to say where it fell short for me, and then I'll sing my praises. The wine... tasted like wine. I don't have a particularly refined palate when it comes to that. The charcuterie board was a collection of expensive items that I am personally not into: miniature pickles (too sour), meat pâté (bland), and what I think were pickled red peppers. There was no cheese, which was highly disappointing; however, if that style of charcuterie suits you, go for it. The music did not match the ambiance at all. They really should play piano or smooth jazz, because the 2010s pop was honestly annoying. DESPITE ALL OF THIS, the crowd was the real pull. Everyone was either on a first date or was an interesting adult. This makes for fun people-watching and stimulating conversations. People were very willing to walk up and talk to strangers. I saw many people doing so, I felt welcome to do so, and people approached me to converse. We stopped by before turning in, ordering the Fromage du Jour (a selection of domestic and imported cheeses), a Charcuterie plate (with thinly-sliced cured meats, pate de chevreuil, stoneground mustard, cornichon, and purple cabbage kraut), and the Marinated Olives. There is eating both in- and outside, but I recommend in dining al fresco to people watch. The place is small, but it gets busier, as it does open later in the day (4 PM to midnight)! Staff and the bar staff were friendly. +wine and cheeses +friendly staff +dine al fresco

It can get cold on the rootop, but they hand out blankets. There is a very cozy fireplace in one corner. Views are quite nice.
