Abraham's Clock Repair

Abraham's Clock Repair

This was actually done a couple of years ago. I have been too angry and hurt to do anything about…read moreit until now. We contacted Abraham's because we thought it had been an established business in the area and had good feedback. So wrong!!! An elderly man and his son showed up to pick up our clock. They carried it out to their van -- nothing any more professional than we could have done, but they charged us for the pickup. I had spent some time explaining that I thought I had over-wound the clock and wanted it repaired to working order. The old man quoted $300 for pickup and extra for repair. A few weeks later they called and said we could pick it up! We carried it out to our SUV, not any differently than in their van. He wouldn't give us the clock back until we paid another few hundred dollars. The "repairs" consisted of them totally destroying my clock! This had been a gift from my son and was important to me. They cut a hole in the back and replaced the original clock works with a battery operated clock face! This did not "repair" my precious clock! It's just another battery operated clock now, The pendulum no longer works and the sound of the chime is totally mechanized. To top it off, he also refused to return the key to the clock! Said he had so many that he didn't know where it was. I cried all the way home. It breaks my heart every time I look at it or hear it "chime". I have another grandfather clock that had belonged to my dad, but I definitely WILL NOT call Abraham's again.

Claimed FREE estimate but wanted to charge $50 to just look at my clocks. Made excuse that the…read moremoney was to make visit.

So let me start by saying, Erik knows what he's doing, there's no questioning that! Another thing,…read morehe's very thorough in his explanation as to the issue(s) your clock is having, the cost to fix and the subsequent maintenance and care that the clock owner can do do prevent or forestall future repair requirements. We unfortunately, tried another clock "specialist" (in Riverview, MI.) in the past year and it was quickly apparent that his repair skills were questionable... three times he was out to our house and still our clock didn't chime or keep time correctly and our monies were wasted. So, here's the bottom line... SAVE MONEY, GET YOUR CLOCK REPAIRED BY A MAN WHO KNOWS HIS TRADE, FREELY ANSWERS QUESTIONS... and who is basically... a caring, great guy! Our clock, after ten years of not working, now runs like a precision time-piece like it did 33 years ago when we purchased it. Gerald and Fil Dz

As we all know, In todays world having great Neighbors is somewhat of a blessing. We had the best…read moreneighbors anyone can hope for. Unfortunately their time with us was shorten over the last 5 years. As their children were packing their house and memories they asked us if we were interested in a Grandfather Clock that the Family had for 45+ Years. With out a doubt we said yes, however they did tell us it has been dormant for at least 25 years maybe more. We looked all over for a reputable repair business and surprisingly allot of the response was "It probably needs a full rebuild" - "If it sat that long chances are it wont work" etc. etc. My wife's Mom called one day and said try Perfect Time Clock Repair they did a great job for her. So we called and Eric showed up for the appointment. Extremally pleasant / professional and was very honest with us. He said well its an old one very dusty / dirty but will proceed to operate anyway. Eric was very careful as he took the old clock apart, I walked in twice to check on progress and just kept seeing more and more parts. About an hour or so later, I heard chiming?????? My wife and I walked into the family room and sure enough the old Clock came back to life. In all honesty I had my doubts but what a surgeon!!! Eric also took the time to explain how everything works, how to set the time, the moon time and winding after the 7 day stretch. Before leaving we gave Eric a smaller version of a clock that is 50 years old and made its way here from Germany. I have absolutely no doubts it will be working just as well as the Grandfather. EXCELLENT WORK, A PURE CRAFTSMAN Thank you so much for all your hard work...

However we parked at the mall across the street on this trip and this was right across the street. My husband really wants a grandfather clock and he was very excited to check out the selection. Prices seemed kind of high to me but to be fair I don't know anything about grandfather clocks, lol. They also have a nice selection of Frankenmuth magnets, they ranged from like $4 to $10. I ended up buying one of the $4 ones. The reason I'm bumping up this review to five stars is because I lost my Fitbit there (Fitbit Zip, an old one that sits on my waist, not my watch) and when my husband and I got to Kern's and realized it, we rushed back to the store to check there first (it was 530pm). The (owner? Employee?) welcomed us back, and another customer immediately pointed to it on the floor. Saved us a lot of hassle and had they closed immediately at 530pm, the doors may have been locked. Looking forward to checking this store out again the next time we are in town.

I actually went there for some clock parts and they don't sell the parts from the store, only on line so that was a waste but the guys were good to talk to and answered some of my clock questions.
