He looked it over and said the main gasket is fine, but the crown needs to be replaced. He did the job for 1/4 the cost the other place quoted, and I had my watch back in 2 business days. When I walked into Tom's business, I felt almost immediately that he is a trustworthy guy and that he would to an excellent job. Tom restores vintage watches regularly, and sells them as well. He even had a few watches which were similar to the one which I had brought in, so I was reassured that he knew what he was doing. My preliminary expectation was that a repair to a vintage Omega which was keeping very bad time would set me back somewhere around $100. Tom did it for $50. I could not recommend him enough and I feel that I will be a long-term customer.

The windows were installed perfectly and I had a new capacitor installed on my Eco Drive. This Citizen has the complicated 8700 calibre movement. Not only was the watch repaired and set, which is no easy feat. Stekelbos also removed the hands on the small wheels and set them correctly as they had been misaligned. I had not even mentioned this to them. I will never take my watches anywhere else. Ever. Also, I was able to purchase an authentic Citizen band for an unbelievable price. Why couldn't she have just told me to wait? We are on our way back from lunch and I called to ask if she could please give us 5 extra minutes (ETA was 3:05) to pick up. Her response? "No, we close at 3 sharp. Are you going to be able to get here in time?" FYI -not great service, guys. I'm in the market for a grandfather clock and would have loved to support a local business. I decided that since I can't find a modern quartz operated battery clock with a similar face that is 12+ wide in diameter, it was well worth saving despite a family member who advised to toss it into the garbage can. One of my friends at work recommended the Northville Watch and Clock Shop. This business is located in a vintage house that has been converted into a business that does first-rate repairs on any type of clock or watch, especially cuckoo clocks from Germany. With that being said, the service that is provided here is top-notch, and super fast. I was thinking it might take a few months to repair my beloved wall clock, but it was done within a week, complete with a new movement installed. The clock ran worse than before I took it in . The work they claimed they did was completly false . They claimed they replaced the main springs ( 3 ) They did not . They claimed to have replaced several Brass bushings , they did not . They had my clock for over a month ,claiming that they had to order parts from Germany , another lie . I have proof of these claims backed by other clock / watch repair shops . To the trained eye , it is plain to see . To the average person ,all they see is a bunch of gears and movements . Now I have to take it to a reputable ,honest clock repair shop . I will post my finding if and when I find one .
