They said I needed a main gasket and crown gasket replaced. $60, and they would have it in a few weeks. I came to Yelp and found Tom Rumpf. He looked it over and said the main gasket is fine, but the crown needs to be replaced. He did the job for 1/4 the cost the other place quoted, and I had my watch back in 2 business days. I was wary to just leave such an item with a cash for gold shop which does watch repairs on the side. When I walked into Tom's business, I felt almost immediately that he is a trustworthy guy and that he would to an excellent job. Tom restores vintage watches regularly, and sells them as well. He even had a few watches which were similar to the one which I had brought in, so I was reassured that he knew what he was doing. My preliminary expectation was that a repair to a vintage Omega which was keeping very bad time would set me back somewhere around $100. Tom did it for $50. I could not recommend him enough and I feel that I will be a long-term customer.

The windows were installed perfectly and I had a new capacitor installed on my Eco Drive. This Citizen has the complicated 8700 calibre movement. I had not even mentioned this to them. I will never take my watches anywhere else. Ever. Also, I was able to purchase an authentic Citizen band for an unbelievable price. I've had this clock since 1991, and it looks perfect on the wall in the living room. I decided that since I can't find a modern quartz operated battery clock with a similar face that is 12+ wide in diameter, it was well worth saving despite a family member who advised to toss it into the garbage can. One of my friends at work recommended the Northville Watch and Clock Shop. This business is located in a vintage house that has been converted into a business that does first-rate repairs on any type of clock or watch, especially cuckoo clocks from Germany. With that being said, the service that is provided here is top-notch, and super fast. I was thinking it might take a few months to repair my beloved wall clock, but it was done within a week, complete with a new movement installed. Likewise, all of the repairs done here come with a complete one-year warranty. The best part, the clock keeps perfect time like it did when I first bought it back in 1991.
