I've had a great experience with Jeff over the past few years taking lessons. My groundstrokes have improved dramatically and we are working hard on my serve. He's very flexible in terms of arrangements and I'd recommend anyone looking for lessons to work with Jeff. read more

When I came to Jeff, I had hit a rut in my tennis game. My footwork was stalled, my backhand stuck at the level of solidly mediocre, and my forehand, while strong, not consistent. The result was that I kept losing matches in leagues and with my tennis buddies. Jeff diagnosed the issues with my game during our first session and established drills that addressed all of them. Soon enough I got competitive with people who I'd previously lost to and, over time, started beating them. Jeff is without a doubt a grade A coach and a go to if you want to take your game to the next level. read more

Wish I could keep the original review I had made on Jeff's request, but my experience has been negative. For context, I paid two 6-pack lessons with Jeff. I got an early request for further payment which I declined because both my wife and myself still had lessons to take, despite Jeff saying we had already taken all. This was the first red flag, but I decided to take this as a simple accounting mistake. Up until then, my wife and myself had been extremely flexible with our training hours, getting a late night email from Jeff whenever he had an opening in his schedule and showing up on the next morning despite having work conflicts or other things to attend. As soon as I declined his early request for payment, Jeff's attitude changed completely and made it impossible for us to schedule remaining lessons. After trying for a couple of weeks, I politely asked if he still wanted to coach us, otherwise I'd happily take the money back from the lesson he seemed unwilling to schedule, but neither did I get the money back nor were we able to get the lessons we paid for. Pretty disappointed with how things turned out specially given how flexible we were in taking any last minute opening he had in his schedule. read more

I am so glad I found Jeff! I knew right away he's a highly skilled, and personable tennis instructor. I have been meeting with him for months now, and feel my tennis technique (like grip, and follow through especially) has improved drastically. Also, side benefit - our sessions are excellent workouts. My body changed so much because of the drills and core workout that is hard to get by just going to the gym. Jeff is also super responsive, making scheduling a breeze. It can be scary to get on a court and suck in front of a pro tennis player, but Jeff has this positive personality and enthusiasm that puts you right at ease from the minute you meet him. I highly recommend Jeff to anyone that wants to improve their game, even if you want to just play for fun. Try him once, you will be happy you did! read more

I've taken a couple lessons with Jeff, and I already feel much more solid in the areas of my game we focused on. He's the first coach that took the time to talk about grip and contact point, which really cleared up misconceptions I had about my strokes. I came in as a 3.5 - 4.0 player with a very weak backhand, but within a couple lessons I already feel significantly more comfortable. He clearly knows the fundamentals well and knows what focus on without overwhelming the student with everything that could be improved. Best of all he's a fun guy and the lessons really fly by! Couldn't recommend Jeff any more, and I think he would be fantastic for both new and experienced players. read more

Jeff is absolutely amazing! He is very thorough and gives a lot of great pointers to improve your game. If you are a beginner, like me, he can even teach you the basics of the game. Honestly, he is a great instructor! read more

I and my wife (both beginners, no prior experience) have been taking lessons with Jeff for about a year now. We meet roughly 2-3 times a month. Now, thanks to Jeff, we know basic strokes and are able to play one another and our friends, and have fun doing so. It is easy to schedule lessons with Jeff and he is always on time. He is also very understanding, for example he cancelled our lesson when my wife felt unwell because of the heat and did not charge us for the remainder of the lesson. Jeff is a very easy going instructor, i.e. you will not feel intimidated with him if you are a beginner. He also teaches advanced players. Note that Jeff also strings racquets. He did it once for us and it was a job well done. read more

I had wanted to get back into tennis for some time but was busy and worried that the experience would be frustrating. I had played in high school (years ago) but, toward the end of that time, found that my strokes were getting much worse. So I was concerned to take tennis up again for fear of having those same terrible strokes. Jeff has helped me get over that particular hump and play more consistently and much better tennis generally. Each of us learns in a different way: through being told (audio), shown (visual), or led (tactile). Jeff presents new information in various ways til he figures out which way you most respond to. This is really helpful. If Jeff hadn't been as encouraging, skillful, and laid back as he is, I probably would have bailed. The frustration would have overshadowed the enjoyment. Instead I'm on my 4th month of weekly lessons with Jeff and it's been a fantastic addition to my life -- encouraging an overall healthier approach. read more

Jeff helped me move from a 2.5 - 3.0 to a solid 3.5 rating. My technique/ power and serve improved dramatically after my sessions with him Highly recommended in case you are looking for a solid tennis coach. Thanks, Vijay read more

I've been taking lessons with Jeff for around 6 months now & I only have good things to say about him. Jeff is super friendly & upbeat & has an obvious passion for tennis & also for teaching. Jeff has years of experience teaching & has also played the game at the highest level, both at Stanford & on the Tour. There are a lot of "tennis pros" out there who will try to convey what it takes to hit a good ball without ever having hit one themselves--Jeff is not one of those guys. In the short time that I've trained with him, I have seen numberous significant improvements in my game & as a result I'm winning more now than ever before. It took me way too long to figure out that I was only wasting my time practicing without any real direction, but I've learned that it is worth spending a little money to enjoy the game more by playing closer to my potential. read more

I've enjoyed a couple of lessons by Jeff so far and I look forward to more lessons with him. He is providing me with exactly what I hoped I had signed up for. He is flexible and communicative with scheduling. He is tuning my strokes, imparting knowledge and advice on shots, and he is pushing me with fitness. Thanks, Jeff! read more

Jeff's tennis lessons have been very beneficial. Over time I have learned movements and proper ways to grip the racket (I was definitely not good at this). With these lessons I am able to play with ease and enjoy tennis without struggling! I've recommended Jeff to several people who have LOVED these lessons! Check out this coach and you'll love the lessons just as much! read more

I took some very beginner lessons with Jeff. The classes are standard $60 per hour and he teaches in Palo Alto, usually at the PA Highschool. He's fun to chat with and makes the hour fly by all the while improving your skill. You don't have to chase tennis balls around either as he has literally hundreds of balls that should last a good 20 minutes at a time. He gave me a good deal on a used tennis racket which was also a bonus. Jeff is easy going and approachable. I have only taken 2 lessons with him and that was more than enough to get me going so that I could play on my own and learn from friends. He wasn't overly pushy with selling classes or packages of classes but he did e-mail me a few times asking if I wanted to take another class. I wasn't bothered and just replied saying I was done taking lessons for now. He's a smart guy and knows how to market himself! read more

Best Tennis coach around!! Jeff strives into helping each individual student perform at the best of their capability. Overall great communication, interaction while still maintaining professionalism. Highly recommend!! read more

I've been playing tennis since I was about 11. In the last few years, I've gotten out of shape and lost the natural rhythm of my game. I really wanted to find someone who could help me rediscover the game and also get back into awesome physical condition. Jeff provided both for me. In just two months, I dropped 20 pounds and lost two inches on my waist after Jeff pushed my body to the limit twice a week. My game is also back to the 5.0 level after dropping down for the last few years from being out of shape. If you want to learn the RIGHT way to find your contact point and generate an amazing stroke, Jeff will definitely sort you out. read more

Jeff is an astute coach who knows the difference between fine tuning certain skills while still identifying larger short comings. He has helped me be more consistent with my second serves which has greatly bolstered my first serve and also has helped me start working on a double handed backhand ( I only had a slice to start with) He uses intuition to teach and is so much fun to talk to. Highly recommended ! read more

Jeff is a great coach! I've been playing tennis for 13 years and still learn a lot from him. I look forward to taking lessons with him every week. He's also funny, lighthearted and down to earth with plenty of stories and jokes to keep you entertained. He's even coached Larry Page, Eric Schmidt, Sheryl Sandberg and a bunch of other big names in the Valley. Highly recommended! read more

Awesome flexible and great to hit with. Thoroughly enjoyed playing with him and my game returned to its previous level. Would highly recommend. read more

I took some classes with Jeff back in 2012. He's definitely one of the better coaches out there. My game absolutely transformed after a few sessions with him. He also has a great personality to go with. I would definitely recommend. read more

I've taken lessons with Jeff for years and it's always a great experience. This personable guy with a goofy accent is always a blast to train with and actually wants to see you improve your tennis game. He'll teach you exactly what you need from tweaking your serve to overhauling your volleys and is flexible to what you want to do. On top of him being a great teacher he is always fun and laid back and if you keep training with him, you'll likely end up with a new friend to get some good drinks and good food with read more

I've been taking lessons with Jeff for over 6 months. I came in with a completely messed up shoulder from surgery, thinking that I was pretty much hopeless. Several lessons later, Jeff had me back to hitting reasonable ground strokes. Besides that, he's such a friendly and easy-going guy that it's impossible not to come back for more! I'd recommend him for anyone, young or old, advanced or beginner. read more

Jeff is a great tennis coach. I started as a complete beginner. He has gotten me to feel comfortable playing, and is incredibly easy-going and fun to play with. I would highly recommend him for lessons if you're on the fence. read more

Jeff is a phenomenal teacher. I took lessons with him for a year. It was easy to set up times that fit with my schedule, and he was flexible and accommodating on time and place. The lessons themselves were excellent: He met me where I was ability-wise, and gave me good pointers and advice. We spent the whole time of the lesson actually hitting, so I really got a lot of reps in. He took feedback and guidance well, tailoring the lessons to what I wanted to learn. Overall I am thrilled with the improvement I saw during my time with Jeff, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a friendly and effective coach. read more

I have been taking lessons with Jeff for 2 months now. I feel very lucky to find Jeff as he is an excellent coach and a real pro. Jeff is really nice when teaching, as a beginner I don't feel timid when making mistakes, and time on the court always flies fast. Jeff knows the difference when I practice and not practice after the class, this is a good way to keep me motivated. Jeff is very punctual for the class, and it's easy to schedule a time with him. Jeff is an easy-going coach, I have never had a coach who has been so flexible and caring. For example, when I didn't feel well and had to reschedule the lesson several times, I always have Jeff's support. Jeff even looked for courts that is closer to me to minimize my driving. I can't recommend Jeff enough. For students of all ages and all levels, please give Jeff a try. Thanks Jeff for the excellent classes and all your caring! read more

Jeff is an excellent coach. Patient and quiet but constantly pushing you to do more with your game. He focuses on your key areas of improvement and adapts his coaching to the student's needs and personality. I would recommend Jeff for tennis lessons for students of all levels and all ages. Thanks for the fun and productive sessions Jeff! read more

Jeff is a very patient and skilled instructor. As a beginner and only a few lessons in I feel confident he will get me to where I'd like to be to enjoy tennis. I would recommend him to anyone at any level. read more

i recently started taking lessons from jeff and i'm a big fan. i've found him to be a very skilled, friendly, patient, and even funny tennis coach. he used to play for the stanford tennis team so he's clearly a great player. but he has no attitude, is very positive and encouraging while making you hit what feels like a zillion balls. he is in demand, so he sometimes has 12 lessons a day. when i see him as the 8 or 9pm lesson, he is still totally upbeat. he doesn't seem tired or anxious to get off the court. he remembers who i am (a sad but marked difference from some other instructors), is focused on where we left off last week and is helping improve my timing and strokes, and he makes it fun. my legs are like rubber at the end of the lesson, but each week i feel i am getting better, and have a lot more enthusiasm for playing tennis. he seems to enjoy teaching a wide variety of players and i'd recommend him highly. read more

Jeff is an excellent tennis coach who is also a very decent guy. He works hard and offers good advice about what you might be doing wrong, but never in a way that makes you feel bad. It's all about tweaking your game to get better over time. read more

I used to play tennis at a decent level many years ago, but left the sport for the last, oh, 15 years. I wanted to get back into it in order to improve my cardio fitness (it's more fun than a stairmaster). I grabbed a Costco cheapo racquet and figured I'd pick it right back up. Not so fast, I quickly discovered. I needed professional help. That's where Jeff came in. I took a lesson with a random "pro" off Craigslist, and it was a disaster. Just because you played #3 on your high school team does not make you a zen tennis master. I found Jeff here on Yelp and his resume impressed me. After 1 lesson, I knew I had found the right coach to resurrect my tennis game. Jeff knows his stuff and is incredibly patient. In addition to middle-aged pseudo-athletes like me, I think he would be excellent with kids and novices. read more

Jeff is a great teacher of the game. He is great for beginners like myself as he has a lot of patience and gives positive feedback. He makes tennis a fun experience and he knows the game really well. Additionally, his rates are really reasonable, especially compared to other lesson rates in the area. I highly recommend him for lessons, or just to hit with, regardless of level. read more

I took lessons with Jeff for a year or so when I lived in Palo Alto. I made major improvements while working with him. He was always super flexible with scheduling, which made it easy to fit in more lessons, and he provided that great balance of being supportive but also pushing you to get better. I was sad to stop working with him when I moved back to east coast. read more

I played tennis all my life but I did not know what I was doing so I started taking lesson with Jeff. In few lessons he completely changed my game and I now feel more comfortable and confident than ever. He is very nice and fun. He diligently worked on all my shots and helped me make consistent progress on all of them. I am eager to take more lessons from Jeff and keep improving my playing. read more

I initially chose to take lessons from Jeff because of all the reviews here. However, my experience was not as stellar. I paid 260 for 5 lessons. It is hard to schedule lessons with Jeff because he has a busy schedule that is constantly changing. You can have a lesson arranged but then Jeff may change it the day before for unknown reasons. When I try emailing him or calling, he also rarely responds. Other than that, the lessons are of average quality. Lessons consist of simply warming up and hitting forehands and backhands over and over without him giving much useful feedback. If you want a good reliable coach, I recommend Coach Jim Gorman or Andy Harader. They both are in charge of high school varsity teams and are more experienced in helping you improve and are more reliable in terms of scheduling. read more

Jeff is an amazing coach and I wholeheartedly recommend him! I moved to the area a couple of years ago and was looking for a tennis coach. After reading Jeff's yelp reviews I decided to have a practice session and have not regretted it ever since. He is patient and encouraging when teaching a new technique, and also great at explaining what shot to take in different positions on the court. I feel that my game improved a lot since I started taking lessons with him, and I also had a lot of fun in the process because of Jeff's positive and friendly attitude. In short, if you want to improve your game or start playing tennis while actually enjoying the process Jeff is your guy! read more

Jeff is awesome. Super patient and fun to work with. Highly recommend for busy professionals looking to pick up the tennis skills!

I've been taking lessons with Jeff for a few years now, and I would still highly recommend him. He has the right background, and a ton of experience. Very consistent in working on all aspects of my game, and very insightful to gradually introduce new drills or make the old ones harder. At the same time, he doesn't overwhelm with too many observations, just keeps feeding the ball so I have a chance to work through any bad habits. He's teaching in multiple locations near my home and work, and is flexible if I ask for a reschedule ahead of time. Oh, and he's the friendliest tennis pro I know. read more

I took lessons from Jeff for about a year while I lived in the Bay Area. I liked that his schedule was flexible and lessons were affordable. He helped me to develop a strong backhand, which I'd never had before. Overall, I found him to be a great teacher and wish I could find the same caliber lessons on the east coast. read more

I really enjoyed my lessons with Jeff. He provided great direction and was able to identify and help me address errors interfering with my game. Highly recommend taking lessons with him! read more

I started working with Jeff over 5 years ago, and he completely transformed my game. Taking into account all my strengths and weaknesses, he got me a backhand, a serve, some footwork, and got me to a level where not only did I enjoy playing far more, but people enjoyed playing with me. When I shattered my right elbow a few years back, he came up with a plan to switch me over to my left side, and I've been able to continue playing, which is awesome. I moved down to LA, and I'm super-stoked he's teaching down here now. He's a great teacher, and he will make your game better! read more

Definitely recommend lessons with Jeff. I found him through a friend a couple of years ago and have really enjoyed working together. He's excellent at spotting the root causes of problems in your game and suggesting things to improve them. He's easy to talk to & time on the court goes quickly. When travel or work has conflicted with our schedule, he's be flexible and low key about moving things around. Give him a try, your tennis will thank you. read more
