I continue to check to see if Elana Clark is still Employed by this office/company. The fact that they have a pediatrician on their staff that caused almost death to a child is mind blowing. I have not received a call or inquiry about my review or my experience under her care. I urge all parents looking at these reviews stay away from this doctor. Stay away like your child's life depends on it. My child had all the symptoms that something was wrong and they were ignored. If you are looking for a pediatrician to tell you to "force feed" your newborn, blame you for your newborn not eating and gaining weight and gaslight you to try to convince you that she met with you on day of release from the hospital than this "doctor" is the one for you! Dr. Asnes at the Tenafly location has been our daughters' pediatrician for 16 years... expert medical advice and wonderful manner! The office staff are so helpful and go the extra mile/above and beyond for patients. Tenafly pediatrics is where my children's pediatrician works. I enjoy going to the Tenafly location more then the Fort Lee location. The office staff at this location are always very friendly, pleasant, and helpful. We also LOVE our pediatrician Dr. Starer, I'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for a pediatrician. It pains me to have to give this review as I have lived in Tenafly for most of my life (now 48 years old) and was a patient at Tenafly Pediatrics in the 80s before my son became a patient. My doctor in the 80s happened to be a family friend and a wonderful physician who cared deeply about his patients. Oh, how times have changed? The quality of the care and the support staff/front desk have declined dramatically. The unfriendly and dismissive front desk is not much more than a nuisance, but the poor care is of grave concern. I could give a few examples about the discourteous front desk but I'd rather focus on the more serious issue. My son complained of stomach pain and we took him to one of the Tenafly Pediatrics doctors in Tenafly (still works there). We explained the pain has been consistent and worsening for 48 hours. Our concern was that this could be something serious as our son isn't much of whiner and we were worried it could be appendicitis. The doctor placed his hand on my son's stomach, asked a few questions about what he ate and dismissed him saying it would pass. We asked if this could be appendicitis, does he need to run any blood work, ultrasound or scans? His response was along the lines that he "guarantees it isn't appendicitis" and to go home and rest. We left. The pain intensified and my father who is a pediatricIan examined my son and was concerned enough to suggest we go to the ER in Englwood, NJ. My son ended up needing an emergency appendectomy. We averted a ruptured appendix by a few hours (maybe less) according to the ER doctor. Friends who have taken their children to Tenafly Pediatrics have told of similar poor doctoring. If your child is experiencing anything more than an ear infection or sore throat, go somewhere else and I'm not even sure this clan of so called physicians could even handle these ailments. As a healthcare worker on the front lines I completely understand the stressors that come with treating patients during the Covid pandemic, however, that does not justify how rude and inconsiderate the ladies answering the phones at this office location are. I have never repeatedly encountered a staff who are as a whole considerably lacking in customer service as that is their primary job. Please hire more compassionate staff who are eager to help aid parents with sick children or simply parents who are new to the game. After many second chances I am now taking my children to a new office that encourages treating patients with kindness and respect. read more

I similarly do not like to leave negative reviews. I do need to bring awareness to the fact that every time I call Tenafly Pediatrics (Tenafly location) I am never greeted with warmth. I am always spoken to as if I am inconveniencing the office - whether trying to schedule an appointment, or requesting universal health forms for the kids. It seems this practice is overwhelmed and over capacity for patients that even the slightest request for anything will warrant an attitude or grudge. I've had three visits at this place within 10dates at Tenafly location and very disappointed. Since we moved, I was looking for pediatrician office closer to our house as my pediatrician was 30min away. I thought Tenafly Pediatrics would be great place to go. My son had a rush all over his body. Doctor wasn't at all concerned, she even mentioned, my 5y old son would be ok to go to school next day (with rash). She didn't recommended any blood work, no treatment/no recommendation. After visit, I went right away to see my previous physician for a second opinion, as rash was really bad all over his body and face. We did all the blood work and got diagnoses. read more

I started sending my baby to Tenafly Pediatrics when she was born. The 1st time she got sick, I called after hours & didn't receive a call back for 3 hours. Being a new mom I'm sure you could imagine how freaked out I was. They just never seemed to care as much as they should for their patients and failure to call back promptly happened every single time I called after hours. After a few small annoyances that I let slide, the last straw was them denying care for my then 2 year old daughter.. We were moving to India for 1-2 years & I was told to pick up her records 2 weeks before we move, so I did. A week before we departed, she got sick. I called to make an appointment & they said my daughter was no longer a patient bc her records were picked up. I told them when we were moving & was never told that once the records are picked up, you're out of the system & out of luck. I felt like this was heartless to deny a baby medical attention. I said to the lady, "is there nothing you can do?!" After much hesitation she finally said you can come in but you have to self pay. Why?! My insurance hadn't changed, they DO take my insurance, I was just there last week... That was it! Thankfully, none to them, my daughter recuperated b4 the 16 hour flight wo seeing a doctor. The only thing good is probably just the doctors are nice, starting from reception to billing they are just mean like we own them money. First of all, annual checkup should be included in all insurance, i keep telling them they are using an infant hearing test on my teenage kids that is just plain stupid. Then when you try to straight it out with billing all they keep asking me is "How do you want to pay this". That lady on the phone ask me at least 20 times when i'm tying to tell them the code they are using is incorrect as per the insurance company. I understand maybe lab work i need to pay but Hearing Testing for infant on a teenager? Then once you walk in to check in, those lady are so mean like you own them money and i told them about the hearing test thing, she said "So what do you want me to do?" HUM...What do you think? either enter in the correct code or don't do that test! read more

This review is solely for Dr, Buchalter. He is absolutely amazing and we trust him any time we have concerns with our children. After moving out of the area, we left the office to use a dr closer to home. What a terrible experience!! We immediately requested to return to Dr. Buchalter and after 1.5 months of the other dr. not being able to figure out what was wrong, Dr. Buchalter provides an accurate diagnosis and treatment that finally resolved our issue & eased all of our worries. It turns out this was just a mistake in the records, but he knows our children and he immediately called me to confirm that it was simply a clerical error. Our Pediatrician is Dr. Lisa Michael and we love her. We came in to find out more about this group practice and to see how everything is operating. They have a waiting area for sick kids as well as kids who are well. We love the care, the reminders for appointments, as well as the service and advice given by Dr. Michael and all the other Doctors we've met when our main Doctor was unavailable. For emergencies, we were always able to reach Dr. Michael via their message service, and we always got sound advice from fevers, to anything we were dealing with-Emergency-wise. We have been with Tenafly Pediatrics for 3 years now, and I'm so grateful to the practice. We primary go to the Fort Lee office, now newly renovated, and see Dr. Aranoff. We have seen doctors at the Tenafly location as well, since one of the many advantages of the practice is the size -- you can always see someone. We have been extremely happy with the skills of the doctors and nurses. The education of the doctors was VERY important to us -- both my husband and I have a lot of medical knowledge ourselves, and we know the difference in quality when it comes to medical education. This practice had the educational credentials across the board to make us very comfortable. They are also up to date on the latest research, and able to speak in an intelligent way about current medical issues out there. What a relief! My son has been seen for regular check ups and for some emergencies. The quality of care is amazing, and the nurses have great bedside manner with our doctor-phobic little guy. The office staff is also helpful and able to resolve any issues regarding scheduling or records or billing with efficiency. My wife & I had our first child on 4/30/12 and as new parents we naturally had a lot of questions. Me personally, I was also a little nervous. This new process has been so much easier for us due to our selection of Dr. Yvette Starer at Tenafly Pediatrics. She's' been wonderful in every way imaginable. Our little family justed started going to this office as our daughter's pediatrician retired recently, and at first we had a pleasant experience. However, the second time we took our sick daughter, we were met with hostility at the front desk with both receptionists, but especially with someone wearing a scrub with the name "Lisa" embroidered on it. I have been in customer service for over twenty years and her attitude and treatment of guests is ABOMINABLE. Every word was laced with nastiness. She even threw, yes, threw, not handed, my credit card back at me! My husband and I were stunned. We didn't want to make a scene as there were other patients/parents around, but we will be calling in to an office manager to let them know they have some rotten people working for them at the front desk. We are considering finding a new pediatric office with kinder people even if it means it is a long drive away. Very disappointed! read more

Worst experience EVER at the Fort Lee office. The nurse was trying to take blood sample from my daughter. My daughter was very nervous at the beginning, instead of trying to calm her down, the nurse was so indifferent and squeezed her little finger very hard, and then seeing blood splashed from my daughter's finger by the nurse, I was feeling very bad and the little one was crying hard already. However, the nurse just said "Well, don't worry, I will take care of the blood splashed from her on my hand." Come on, my little one was hurt emotionally and psychically both by this very rude operation, and the nurse only cared about herself, not the patient's feeling at all, especially a little girl. Guess they have had enough patients already, and we won't come back to this pediatrics ever. read more

The doctors make up for the receptionists. Awesome doctors, multiple locations, appointments 7 days a week, and we've had the doctors call and check up on our son when he's been sick. The doctors for this practice are the jewel in the crown. I feel they go above what's required of them and I'm very thankful. I would rather schedule online than call. The receptionist always cuts you off and needs more interpersonal skills. 5 stars because doctors are prompt, professional and very friendly. read more

The doctors are good and I like that there's a doctor for almost every time when your kids are sick. I've experienced rude attitude from the receptionists and that was very upsetting, especially since my son was burning of fever and looked miserable. I think that a clinic that treats sick children should have someone with a little more empathy and service awareness. I hate writing review but I had to express myself b/c of what this doctor did and I want ALL parents to beware: I have 3 kids I have been with Tenafly Pediatrics since my kids were babies. I have a great relationship will ALL the doctors since they Hired a Dr. Daniel Anderson (a newbie with no experiences) My son had a hard fall and scrapped & burned his thigh. I called the office right away. they advise me what to do. I have bought my son in the doctor's office the NEXT day as per request... our main doctor was not at the office. So Doctor Anderson saw my son. we told him what happened. He gave a cream medication and CALLED DYFS on us because he assumed we were abusive to our son. and since he did not know us... He wanted to PROTECT himself and his name. REALLY!!!!! I love my children. they are my life. We been coming to Tenafly for over 5 years. We know the staff, We know the doctors. I am shocked that he called us ADUSIVE. Now I have DYFS calling me, coming to my house like if we are criminals, questioning my son, my children & members of my family if we abusive to our children. Who is not going to protect our FAMILY NAME NOW! We are a family of God, We are good people. No OUR FAMILY NAME will be in the DYFS database for two years. Shame on you Dr. Anderson, "you need to protect your name"....who told DYFS, he's just doing his job...........I don't think so! Your action speaks in volume! You saw a Latin Family, who told you the truth of what happened to our son and you didn't believe a word of what we said. The Funny Part about this story... The Next day, Doctor Anderson called me personally to give me the heads up that he called DYFS and not to worry about it! He called them b/c it's the law and he had to protect his name.... REALLY PROTECT YOUR NAME!!!! When Dyfs show up, they said 'Why would the doctor call US for this"...my son had a really bad fall but it was not that extreme to call DYFS. To all my Parents out there... BEWARE OF DR DANILE ANDERSON. He will call DYFS on you if he does not know you, he will call DYFS is your child got hurt.... My 2 year old had 103-105 fevers all weekend. First time he's actually sick. We could not get through to the pediatrician. We finally took him to the ER on Monday morning since he still had high fevers of unknown etiology. Even the ER doctors and pediatrician couldn't reach them on a Monday!! We are VERY disappointed with Tenafly Pediatrics LACK of care. My son STILL has high fevers and they STILL don't know. read more

Many people recommended this place to me but I didn't feel comfortable going there. May be I'm too picky but when it comes to my 1 yr old daughter, I am picky. Long waiting, busy place, and I finally see a doctor for may be 10min or less. Felt like I could not ask questions ...and I do have many questions because I'm the first time mommy. Plus nurse gave the shot to my baby so....I don't know how to say. it was like she was working at the factory, doesn't really care... Metropolitan Pediatrics from Closter and Teaneck recently joined this group. Both locations are filled with great doctors. The office locations remain with the great front desk, nursing and doctor staff. They really care about your family and over 20 years and several children we have gone through a variety of things from well to sick visits. I wish I could find an adult practice I trusted as much as I trust this practice. In particular Dr. Lucia P Caruana and Dr Kanter are phenomenal. There are many others that are excellent as well. Emmanuel Martakis was excellent during several sick visits recently. I really cannot say enough about how grateful I am to have chosen their office so many years ago. The Teaneck office can even get you in on Saturday and Sunday with a sick child, priceless. read more

found this practice and made an appointment to bring in my newborn twin girls for their first check up. it was validated over the phone that my insurance was accepted. fast forward to today, brought my girls in (mind you, it's cold.. and not easy getting 2 babies ready and out of the house) did paperwork and sat down only to be told in front of everyone that i had to leave because my insurance wasn't accepted. all the receptionist did was give me a puzzled look and said 'i'm sorry..' whoever i spoke with over the phone should have clarified which policies are accepted. such a waste of time. read more

Folks, I would very much think twice before taking your kids to this office. Between random billing issues to physicians with terrible beside manner, you have much better choices. Latest example: We brought our daughter into the office for a terrible cough. She was seen and given the all clear. The cough was worst later on in the day and was brought back and seen by a different doctor who said she had bronchitis. Ok, no big deal but it took 2 copays for that to be figured out and why would one doctor say the opposite of another? read more

We went to Dr. Joanne Aranoff at the Fort Lee office for a sick visit. She is not our regular doctor. First and last visit. Rather than treating my sick child she went into a verbal and abusive tirade about how my child is not fully vaccinated. My child is young and is only missing two vaccinations. She told me, "If you don't plan on vaccinating your child then this is not the place for you." She then turned and callously said, "Just saying', if you don't vaccinate this is not the place for you." I had to ask her if she would please treat my sick child as this was a sick visit and I would discuss this matter with my regular doctor. I did not understand the relevance of rebuking me in front of my child regarding vaccinations when all I did was come in for a walk in, sick visit. Aranoff continued her tactics of humiliation, harassment, intimidation and refusal of future medical care to the point of bringing me to tears during the visit. She did not have a caring attitude at all. Rather than upholding the Hippocratic Oath, Aranoff was more interested in her agenda of making sure everyone who crossed her path was vaccinated according to her desires without even asking about my child's medical history. Aranoff treats patients like numbers. One vaccination schedule fits all children. In my opinion, she treated us with absolutely no respect or regard because we are different from her and she made me feel that we are beneath her. Aranoff did not care to even treat my sick child as I had to remind her that is why we were there during the 8:30 to 930 am walk in sick visit times. Only then did she treat my child. Her cursory assessment of my child really made me question her professionalism. It is so sad knowing a doctor who works with children does not seem to care about her patients. Aranoff knows nothing of our medical history nor did she take the time or care in asking. Had Aranoff done so, she would realize why we are holding off on two vaccines. We have fully vaccinated our children otherwise and this is why her abusive tirade was so shocking. I support vaccinating my child but due to my child's medical history, we vaccinate on a modified schedule. The staff is also very uncaring. The only kind person was the nurse who came in to our room prior to the tornado that was Aranoff. read more

Mary L, that is truly a reckless comment you have made about Dr. Smith. I have been using Tenafly Pediatrics for 7 years now and request Dr. Smith or Dr. Kim. All of the doctors are great. My boys, 8 and 6 love them. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is a fine doctor! I was there 2 weeks ago and he spent 20 minutes with me. Maybe he was having a bad day when you were visiting. We've been with Tenafly Pediatrics (Park Ridge) for about 2 years. We started there when my daughter was 1.5 and last year added our two boys to their patient list :). Our primary care physician is Dr. David Schaumberger but we have also seen Dr. Saks, Dr. Grossi, Dr. Aranoff and a few others I can't remember. Well visits have usually been at Park Ridge but there have been occasions where we have had to go to Tenafly or Paramus for a sick visit. There is little to no waiting time at Park Ridge - you are usually ushered into the exam room within minutes of your appointment time. Everyone (at all three locations) has always been professional, efficient and compassionate. Their records are computerized and available at all offices - so I never have to spend any time explaining why/when I was last there or how my child was last treated. We get to the point of the visit quickly. They listen patiently, ask clarifying questions and make suggestions on a course of treatment. I never feel rushed and am encouraged to call in (or bring them back) if I have any questions/concerns. Most important to me is that my questions are not discouraged and my concerns are not brushed off .... even my Google-inspired questions are answered patiently and professionally *smile*. No matter the time, I always get a call back within 20 minutes. I genuinely feel that the doctors care about their little patients and have truly partnered with us in caring for our children. In short, we have three kids - a 3.5 year old girl and a set of twin boys who are now 14 months. We've been through RSV, ear infections, febrile seizures with one or another of the boys at some point in the last year. For my daughter, they caught astigmatism in one of her eyes and referred us to an ophthalmologist who can take measures now (while she is young) to correct her vision. Through all of this, we never felt alone/lost regarding our children's medical care. I cannot adequately express how grateful we are for this practice, its doctors and staff. read more
