Templeton is a beautiful facility but, much like a vapid supermodel, the beauty is just a facade. The inner workings of this equestrian facility reveal an uglier interior. Sadly, boarding barns are often rampant with drama--dozens of women under one roof, gossip prevails and back biting is often de rigueur. Templeton in my experience exhibits the worst of this type. Not only do the boarders back stab and gossip--the owner perpetuates this atmosphere. The owner rules over the facility with a bully-like persona. Boarders are often made to feel inadequate and belittled. A recent boarders gelding was brutally attacked by a stallion boarded on the property and in recent months the Sheriff has been called to the site for complaints a few times. The care of the horses and the facility are of a good quality that you would absolutely expect from a barn that charges almost $600 per month for stalls. However, with that price does not come, customer service. Boarders are not given respect at this facility. If one does not agree with the barn's regulations (of which there are quite a few) you can be labeled a 'drama' creator and in my experience as a boarder almost 1/2 dozen of these 'trouble' makers were given less than 48 hours to leave. Overall in my tenure at Templeton dozens of long term boarders chose to leave, due to the increasingly chaotic atmosphere. While the offerings of clinicians and trainers propose to help develop a 'partnership' with your horse. The guest German trainer, is aggressive, forceful and utilizes draw reins on many horses as her cure-all. She seeks to have horse submit to her will, not work in partnership. --Ironic since these techniques are blatant contrast to the Natural horsemanship trainers Dave Williams and Gina Chianello, also on staff. --I have it under good authority that some current boarders do not like riding with the guest clinician, but don't feel they can voice their opinions. Guess it's a grab bag as far as training goes! My preference is a training program that works with what I want--not what the barn wants. As a boarder at Templeton I had a many happy months--my horse was well cared for and I did have fun. But the underlying message was always--don't rock the boat. The reviews on this site are all opinions. I am allowed my opinion and decided to come forward with this review to counter the recently added rosy glowing reviews. New clients deserve a realistic picture. UPDATE: Since posting this review I have received harassing and accusatory messages from current boarders & the owner which corroborate the nature of this business. If the business is truly a positive place that runs 'drama free' it would instruct current boarders and management to conduct themselves professionally and not harass or bully anyone, but again that is not how this business operates. It's interesting how those that are so quick to criticize can't put their names on their reviews. There are many choices out there for us all. Of course, there is a standard of conduct anywhere one goes. Misbehavior is not usually tolerated and even adults can forget to act accordingly and are the worst yelpers when called on it. As in life, if things aren't going so well, check out your own baggage first and don't place the blame on others. Come see for yourself. Templeton Equestrian Center ROCKS! Since opening in 2006, Templeton Equestrian Center has always maintained the highest quality and cleanest facility of almost any barns available that I have seen thus far. All the equestrian needs and horse needs are met or exceeded resulting in a happy, healthy environment for all. The owners have always given us boarders the best service ever, including dropping everything to help or to even trailer a horse in need to a vet, not just giving us a call or missing the situation entirely. They are there for us! That's why they now offer us an array of amazing trainers to choose from, from rehab training and natural horsemanship to trail riding to classical dressage at all levels depending upon how you want to write your own program. Each trainer is now hand-picked and have solid backgrounds using integrity in their balanced training without the need for force, unnecessary gadgets or fantastic "flash." Templeton offers the consciously thought-out environment and opportunity to cultivate that enriching, supportive relationship a horse person seeks with their horse without care or concern. Any other kind of review of this wonderful place might perhaps be jealous, because it truly doesn't get much better than this. In fact, some other barns have used this for a model for their own facilities! As a current boarder at Templeton, I was surprised to see DQ's comments. I have always felt respected by the owners, and find both them and the boarders here to be friendly. In terms of customer service, Shanna goes out of her way to help organize lessons with great trainers (locally and nationally respected). She organizes farrier visits and other routine care needs, keeping our individual costs down. The overall environment is both welcoming and professional. As for the nuts-and-bolts, the quality of the hay and grain is excellent. My horse has daily turnout in a large paddock. And they keep an eye on all of the horses during the day -- if it warms up, they get blankets off; if it starts raining, they make sure the horses stay dry. Having a large, well-lit indoor ring is important to me given the that I can only ride at night during the week. And there is nothing like heading out for a relaxing trail ride on a sunny weekend day! Both my horse and I have made great progress in the last few months with the trainers available here and the infrastructure to keep everyone healthy and happy. Is it a nice facility? Absolutely -- from the amenities to the care of the horses to the people who are there everyday. read more

Looking for a great learning experience and overall care for my horse brought me to Templeton nearly 2 years ago. Shanna, the owner, introduced me to ground work and its importance. She encouraged me to hang in there with a horse I love but is a real project. Her priority is safety. My horse is always handled professionally. Shanna has put me in touch with instructors that have brought me and my horse together to appreciate calm and confidence. From Cathi Herling for my weekly lesson which propels me along, weekly Dave Williams Clinics on natural horsemanship, Gina Chianello with Parelli horsemanship doing private training and lessons, monthly Megan Pugh Clinics (training through grand prix) to Maggie Broekman who now comes every two weeks for clinics (training through grand prix), I can readily fill my time with instruction aimed at my individual needs and goals. This horse boarding facility is quite nice from it's appearance i.e. clean and well organized. The boarders are mainly mature women and very welcoming and friendly. The indoor arena is very busy and closed for numerous days as well as entire weekends for clinics, maintenance and bad weather. The property is 15 acres with limited areas to ride on. Grain is not included in the expensive board and hay is rationed. Warning: The owner has told many good boarders to leave the facility within 48 hrs. and with a threat, if one displeases. i.e. difference of opinoin, independent thinking, unwilling to be micromanaged and controlled. I do not recommend this facility to board a horse. read more

I moved my two endurance horses to this barn this past January to get some cross-trainpleton played a huge role in this major accomplishment. I have a rather strict feeding program and Shanna ensured it was followed to a T! Templeton Equestrian ing during the winter months. Shanna and company were stellar with my horses - the facility is phenomenal and the ability to work with a couple different trainers made a huge difference for my horses. First ride out with my main endurance horse got us a First Place with Best Condition...the work we did at Temis the absolute BEST in my BOOKS!!! read more

I have boarded my two horses at the Templeton facility for two months now and I have found it to be the best boarding facility ever and I have some experience in this area as I have owned a boarding facility in the past. I have found everyone very friendly and helpful and kind to their horses as well as to everyone that boards or visits here.This is one of the best facilities around and the owner is great, I can not understand why anyone would leave here unless they are very dumb or stupid. I would definately rate this facility five stars. read more
