Majority of our family vacations consist of horseback riding. Even though we go a lot, we will always be comfortable beginners. We may not know a lot about horses but we certainly know what loved, well cared for and beautiful horses look like! These animals are beyond loved & stunning! Very small groups. Max are 4 people at a time (at this moment, possibly 5 but one is a new mama.) One person walked next to my son the entire time. They made me feel very safe and comfortable. Ride is approximately 40-45 minutes. It's the perfect amount of time for beginners. I ended up buying a second package so we can go back at the end of our trip. I went for my birthday in June with my partner and her friend. The animals were beautiful and well mannered but it just wasn't the experience I expected. I'm used to going on horse rides where the leader rides in front of the group on their horse and the horses follow. The horses were physically walked by the staff and owner the entire trail and the lead rope wasn't even placed correctly so the horses couldn't take accurate direction we kept getting walked into bushes and low hanging trees. The owner kept yelling directions at staff. It was loud and obnoxious. You could tell the staff didn't appreciate it. Treated us like children. The helmets we used didn't seem sanitary or washed. For a birthday ride it was sub par. read more

My husband and I went on the 40 min trail ride and had an amazing time. The horses were very well taken care of and healthy and we were matched with a horse that better suited our riding experience. They had various breeds that were mostly European which was a new experience for me. The farm overall was very nice and meticulously maintained. We enjoyed seeing the peacocks, chickens and their friendly jack russell terrier that accompanied us on our trail ride. We were pleased with the professionalism and friendliness and we wish we could've came back for a lesson if we didn't have to leave so soon. Corbett Farm is a beautiful spot tucked about 45 minutes outside of Portland. It's got a lovely host, Stewart with his energetic dog Booboo. There are peacocks and hens, ducks, chickens goats and a pig so ugly she's almost cute. There are some beautiful trails that you can walk down or if you book a ride you can see from horseback through the forest. There is a little creek, lovely landscaping, you really feel like you've escaped the city. read more

My partner and I biked out from Portland to stay at Corbett Farm this past weekend. We had a lovely time being hosted by Stuart, who was always warm and welcoming without being overbearing. We stayed in the short bus, which was cozy and comfortable. There are many charming animals across the property but my heart was most warmed by a sweet little gray cat. This was my first time visiting but it certainly won't be the last time my partner and I bike out here! Not all the places we've biked to in rural parts of Oregon have felt gay-friendly, but this place certainly did. (Note: I always felt very COVID safe on the property as well) read more

My 7 yr old granddaughter and I had a wonderful experience at Corbett Farm with Stuart and the horses. We arrived early and Stuart welcomed us, then got back to his earlier client. We became acquainted with animals on the farm: 7 horses plus pigs, goats, guinea hens, peacocks, ducks, sheep, cats. The farm was beautiful and a picturesque and easy drive from Portland. Stuart took personal interest us as his clients, and it was apparent that he did the same with the riders before and following us. After our ride he welcomed us to continue socializing with the animals. Stuart's horses are his own (not stable leasers) and he knew them well. They are well cared for and well behaved with riders. What a great place! You walk in to see a crowds of chickens and peacocks. Further back you can find a goat and a couple of sheep that Stuart kindly lets you feed. The goat eats directly from your hand, gentle as anything. The horses are a beautiful herd who were all joys to ride! You take the horses on a loop through a beautiful forest, right along a babbling stream of Mt. Hood glacier runoff. All the while, Stuart helps you feel comfortable on the horse while always ready with a kind word and some encouragement! Not to mention Booboo the dog! Always happy to get as much attention as you'll give him! He'll run around with you, sit on your lap, give you a hug in your arms, and hang out with your horses on the ride! I can't say enough good things about Stuart and Corbett Farm. He took us on a beautiful trail ride crossing a stream and through the woods. Great horses who were well behaved and seemed very well treated. We also got to do some training in his arena. The horses were very cooperative and willing. Not your usual trail horses. I can't imagine how anyone could have less than 5 star reviews for Corbett Farm. Everyone at Corbett Farms is welcoming including the animals. My daughter and I have visited twice and we get so excited to go and see all the horses, peacocks, chickens, pig, ducks, cats and dog. We always get warm welcomes and feel at home while we're there. Stuart and others are always very accommodating and never "short" with us. The horse-back riding is always amazing and fun and Stuart makes sure he is with you every step of the way. We camped for the weekend in the bus last year and enjoyed our weekend stay. They have never made us feel as though we were bothering them if we needed something. They offered coffee in the morning and made sure we were comfortable the entire time. Note to anyone visiting: We bring two large bags of carrots to feed the many horses and have even brought bags of bread for the birds. We will continue to visit many times over!! This review is for the stay, not for the horse experience. My family and I were looking forward to staying in the barn room for 2 nights, but we left after 2 hours on the property as there were several factors we were uncomfortable with. First, the good: the animals were a treat to share carrots with. We especially loved Boo Boo the dog, the goats, and the pigs. Stuart was welcoming (and patient with us as we arrived 15 minutes early and didn't know we weren't supposed to park on the property) and went out of his way to offer us juice and pastry while he readied our room, which had a lot of character. The bad: it wasn't entirely clear from the listing that the room is *in* an actual working horse barn with horses across and to the side, so there isn't a sense of privacy (the doors are barn doors), and you're getting the full effect of the rodents in the horse poop vibe. There was a trail of ants inches away from the pillows in the bunk beds, there were no mattress pads or top sheets (and regular blankets, not duvet covers that could be easily washed between guests). Since the farm is not close at all to restaurants or stores, we needed the fridge but it was not plugged in prior to our visit and was not clean (rusty). Mind you, I grew up on a small farm with an outhouse and l am not afraid of ants or rats or farm smells or outhouses so much, (don't want them by my head when I'm sleeping) but I am squeamish about bedding that is used by hundreds of other people. There were too many factors for us to feel comfortable discussing this, so I said that I was dealing with an annoying health issue (which was true) and we said goodbye. Because we made the reservation 3 days in advance and no one else booked the nights we didn't stay, I asked Stuart if he would be willing to refund us for one of the two nights. He declined. So if you are looking into coming here, you should be informed about the reality of that particular "room" before booking. read more

Love this place. So much to do and the host is friendly. I have been here 3 times for horseback riding. Appreciated the option of arena or trail riding. There are tons of other farm animals to see as well (pigs, goats, ducks, geese, rabbits, chickens, peacocks)! I have taken my 9year old and then my two teens who are 13 years old. WOW! SO much fun! Everything about this riding stable is done right. They are focused on their guests staying safe, having fun, and leaving the experience feeling good about their time at Corbett Farm. Stuart is a delight, very interesting to talk with, and loves helping guests feel comfortable with their horse. The barn and paddocks are clean, well kept, and the horses are healthy and well cared for. As an experienced rider, I had a great time on the trail ride (we weren't 'nose to butt' as some trail rides are) - that said, those on our ride that were a bit uneasy had a Corbett Farm employee walking along side their mount. Definitely HIGHLIGHT of our trip! Stuart was so nice and friendly. We got there earlier than we were suppose to so he showed us all the animals he has. Since we got there early we were able to spend time with the other animals while him and his team got our horse ready. He picked our horses based on how much experience we had. So he knows exactly who his horses are. We did a small lesson before he took us around the ranch. His two lady friends came with us so we had more than enough people guiding us. My husband and I are getting ready for a two day trail ride in the Steens Mountain. We are not horse people so we wanted to get a little experience under our belt before the trail ride. We've ridden with Stuart twice now and it's been wonderful. I was a bit apprehensive and he's gotten me to the point of now trotting comfortably. Stuart is a confident trainer and put me at ease through out the ride. I've ridden two different horses so far. All of his horses are well cared for. My husband and I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Stuart the host because he wasn't present, we were asked by his friend to leave the car on the road we simply didn't feel comfortable leaving our car on the road since it could've been hit by traffic and partially obstructed other cars from comfortably driving through because it's a narrow road. The property is large with plenty of room and there were other cars parked inside the gates. His friend said we could park near the schoolie and talk about it with Stuart when he got back but he didn't return.The "bed" was Wood with thin foam on it and it absolutely does not fit two average sized adults comfortably he claims it's a short queen and his measurements are wildly inaccurate.Also we couldn't discuss it while on the property because he wasn't there, we sent him two messages and received a response in review form not back via private message over a day after we left. We are lucky that Air B&B gave us a full refund after we called a second time and fully explained our issues, they showed more common sense, kindness and much better customer service than the host did.Nice property but we couldn't wait all night for host to come home to discuss issue. We live close and wanted to experience sleeping in a schoolie, we have friends who live in them full time but who made sure to have a big enough bus to fit an actual queen mattress before they begun the transformation. We have stayed in yurts and vintage campers even simple tents that fit a queen mattress, we weren't looking for anything fancy just a real bed we could comfortably sleep in. He refused to give us a partial refund and seems more interested in complaining about where we parked and arguing than in providing good customer service or doing the right thing. read more

Stuart was terrific - my kids were completely inexperienced riders and I am a very experienced rider who had a scary accident and stopped riding years ago. He matched each of us with horses that suited our abilities and level of fear (for me). It was the first time I've been on a horse without feeling fear since the accident and it was awesome to feel the enjoyment of riding once again. My kids had a perfect first time riding experience too. They had so much fun, they asked if we could come back again the next time we are in the area and I happily said yes.
