Technician David came by today, and he quickly diagnosed that we needed a new capacitor, which he had on hand. He replaced it in less than 20 minutes, and now the house is cooling down oh-so-nicely. Steele Brothers have taken care of all of our HVAC needs for almost 20 years; they replaced our original mid-1970s furnace, added central AC, replaced the replacement furnace when it was determined by the manufacturer to be faulty, and have continued to service both systems.

Also, the white thread sealant is all gooped around the pipe joints. I asked him about that and he said that is normal. So after a $800 visit I don't think the issue is fixed, paid for a new valve even though he said I wouldn't if the problem still exists ( I don't believe the value was bad) As I said, I don't believe him, in fact I'd say I don't believe ANYTHING about the service and just paid $800 for ??????? When I later scheduled a diagnostic visit for a non-cooling AC unit, the technician misidentified which condenser served which zone of the house and diagnosed a bad capacitor on the wrong unit. I paid a diagnostic fee but was left troubleshooting the actual problem myself after realizing the unit that was diagnosed was not the unit experiencing the issue. Mistakes happen, but the combination of poor follow-through, lack of attention to detail, and ongoing communication issues has left me with very little confidence in the company. I would not recommend them based on my experience.

Bailing on an appointment isn't okay. Agent 'understood my frustrations' so she'd be happy to put me on the list for a call in 3-4 weeks and during that call they could schedule another appointment. However I never received this information. I lined them up via email and told them I was out of the country and to give all info to me vi email, not my renters. They called during start up and said pipe from water to swamp cooler were broken and need repaired. I gave OK to fix they never mentioned replacement. Yesterday I got a recommendation from them about replacing pads next year. Again nothing about replacement. My dining is ruined with water and I can't even get them to come out. It is 90+ degrees and my renters are without air in order to not further ruin my house further. Huge mistake to use them!

Marty installed our A/C on top of our existing furnace four years ago, and we've dealt with problems ever since: * The furnace venting was installed incorrectly, creating a potentially dangerous exhaust issue. * The heat repeatedly tripped the thermostat circuit during cold weather. After one troubleshooting visit, Marty stopped responding, and we had to hire an electrician to fix it. * The A/C was installed with so little clearance that our water heater can no longer be removed from the utility closet. He measured while here, said it was "fine" - no way it fits in/out of there. Marty promised to come back and fix it but never did. * He also promised to help us obtain an energy rebate, but despite multiple follow-ups, he never responded. We repeatedly notified him about these issues and gave him opportunities to make them right. Instead, we were ignored. Now that our water heater needs replacing, we're facing thousands of dollars in additional costs because it can't be removed without cutting it apart, and we may have to switch to a tankless system simply because of the installation. Saving money upfront wasn't worth the long-term cost.

In his case, with a problem with his furnace and air conditioner a different company had looked at it and told him it was dangerous and that the only option was a complete new system. United HVAC came out, did the testing, and concluded that all he needed was a good system clean and service. I initially had United HVAC out to look at one of my air conditioners that wasn't working. Cody was on time courteous and diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. I then talked to him about the possibility of replacing both of my furnaces and air conditioners that were 30 years old and starting to have issues. Previously I had other HVAC companies look at them and all they did was start to give me a "hard sell" why I should replace them immediately (at great expense). Cody, on the other hand, talked me through the possible issues going forward if I kept the present units and gave me some various options including a phased replacement if I decided to replace them to avoid a large up-front cost all at once. Over the next 2 weeks I spent considerable time on the phone talking to the owner of the company, Greg, exploring all my options. He was extremely helpful in knowing the quality vs cost of units and researched and gave me several options. With no hard sell pressure! I ended up replacing my units because the cost compared to other companies was too good to pass up. When they replaced the units they encountered numerous unforeseen issues that they had to overcome. They never complained... they just came up with solutions. The installation was a thing of beauty and when they left, they left the work area cleaner than when they started. In other words they gave me an excellent product and true workmanship at a fair price. Going forward, I will never use any other HVAC company.
