It's not particularly cheap. 3. It's a bit grotty - not the sort of place you'd normally go. All this aside, there are two things which alone deserve the four stars, their staff are amazing, they're courteous and go above and beyond to help you out. The first time I came in it was on a weekday at lunch (more on this in a sec). The pub was rammed, you could barely move. One of the staff members spotted my work colleagues and myself and swept off a previously reserved sign (I assume they were no shows) and effectively gave us table service the entire time we were there. It was definitely above and beyond. The second reason these guys get a four star rating and also the reason it's so popular at lunch time (causing problems because its small & also the reason I was there at lunch) is that they allow you to bring food you have purchased on Whitecross street into the pub and eat it. This is very cool of them. for those reasons I would recommend heading down there at lunch time if you can. Make sure you call ahead though and book a table (and then subsequently turn up on time!)

We arrived just after the work day, and the crowd was buzzing just outside. We did the self-seating option indoors, and sat down to a great view of the Thames river, as we pondered our meal choices from the menu. The location is just great. For a leadoff drink, I had to go with the house cask ale, which was the Fuller's ESB, a drink I've been enjoying since the 1990's, and it delivered as expected. I went with an order of Sausages with mashed potatoes and peas...it doesn't get much more classic than that, and I was happy with it, especially with the quantity (3 sausages!). Wifey was on the hunt for a meat pie, and she went with the Steak, Ale & Mushroom Pie, which I can report was wholeheartedly approved. One of the better pies we've had on the overall trip, and the best we had at a pub location. The overall vibe of this pub is exactly as you might picture it, and we weren't disappointed with any aspect. Service, though not overly patient (hey - they were busy), was competent and pleasant. Cheers!

Staff is really nice, free Wi-Fi, great crowd. If I lived in London, this would totally be my spot to hang out. Prices were great too. Beer was £4-£5 and most the food was £7-£12. Happy hour prices were even better, and on Mondays, there is a half-price for beer and burger special. How does it get better than that?

There's a number of reasons to like it, but I'll start with the biggest... The owner. I love that guy. He's so pleasant, so cheerful, so happy to see you. And you know what? He will remember you! He will see you walk in the door, greet you, and start pouring your usual before you even reach the counter. I love that guy. The beer is well-priced, as is the wine and the food. I've never had a meal, but I have munched on the snacks and they were good enough for me! The pub is a mix of locals and after-work drinkers. It's never too full, but never feels empty. Oh, and the other best thing? Dog friendly. You know I love a dog friendly pub. Long story short: I really like this place. I like the owner, I like the barkeepers, I like the couches and the music and the strange little nook with seats and a telephone.

My favorite place to hang out is the cozy section up the little staircase overlooking the tiny pub. On a recent visit I made the acquaintance with Tommy, the local cat. If the massive size of the crowd outside on a sunny summer weekday afternoon is any sign, JT's doing something right. If you're popping by for a real ale or two after work, be certain that you don't stray beyond the bounds of the pub's storefront. Apparently the neighbours get disgruntled if you do, and one of the folks from this establishment will be quick to let you know. It's great to be conscientious about clogging up the ingress/egress of nearby buildings, however it's worth noting that outdoor standing room is effectively limited. Especially if you plan to bring along a large group of people. I could see cozying up to this joint on a cold winter's day, having some stick-to-your-ribs pub grub, and whiling aways the hours watching the grey pass by.

We took a "baby class" and it just so happened to be at The Lift building on White Lion Street, a stone's throw from Craft Beer Co. My husband's delight could hardly be concealed as we approached lunchtime and the promise of a remarkable pint. He successfully completed his lunch mission and the rest of baby class...so, I'd call that a success. He raves about the beer selection here as do numerous other yelpers - safe bet you'll find something that catches your eye. My chicken sandwich was messy and delicious, made fresh and arrived very quickly with hot chips. Ill put this on my list for "return when not pregnant" - because once you've been sober for 9 months, go for the good stuff.
