Decided that I was willing to spend a little more money, just to see if I could get a decent cellular data connection. I went in with the idea that the Telus associate would look at my phone setting to see if I might have something wrong. They determined that the Esim was not accessing their network, so I would never have healthy data rates. They were not interested in troubleshooting, but they offered to sell me a Telus eSim. So I decided that it would be worth $35 to make this happen. It only took several minutes to buy and get this working. Thanks
