Your average restaurant experience. Nothing spectacular. Food was pretty good - I had the grilled portabello over a polenta-y cake with some herb covered goat cheese balls. The flavors weren't fantastic together. The mushroom was pretty bland. But, I will say the other dishes I noticed around the table looked better than mine. My water glass was always promptly filled (which I appreciated greatly cause I was dehydrated as shit). Maybe that's why I didn't love my meal. The food was so good there was 7 of us and our dog Chester which the bartender was so cool to let us have him hang with us inside, so appreciative! Wings and chicken fingers for appetizers they were so tender and yummy! My creole salad and hubby's blacken chicken quesadillas were very good they did have a kick if you're not into spicy, we are so not a problem for us. Everyone else in our party enjoyed their picks as well. Only reason for a 4 star is the acoustics, so hard to talk to each other with all the noise but still a great time and very friendly and timely service and prices very reasonable. read more

I"ve been here a few times, for dinner and for lunch. The servers are always really nice, the ambience is good, and the food never disappoints! I like the outdoor seating, too. They do great salads you can create yourself with homemade dressings and lots of options. The french dip is one of my favorites, and their tater tots are awesome (especially with chipotle aoli). A windy night in Columbia brought myself and 4 others to teller's for dinner. They have a nice eclectic bottle/can beer menu, I had a modus hoperandi followed by a Hofbrau Dunkel. For dinner I had the sour cherry duck which came with sautéed green beans and a fried parmesan polenta cake. Everything was very tasty and seasoned well, the one thing I wish is that the skin on the duck was crispy. The duck itself was cooked to a very nice medium. Pro: Great drink prices. Con: Food. All food. We went at 5:45 on a Friday. I ordered a braised pork wrap, and the waiter came back to say they were out of pulled pork. At 5:45! That eliminated another two entrees, too. I re-ordered and got the arugula salad, and the waiter came back to say they were out of arugula. The worst was the appetizer. We ordered a brie-filled pastry. The dough on the puff pastry was totally raw. Not even lightly brown or flakey, more like Play-doh. Would've sent it back but our waiter was MIA. read more

We waited 20 minutes for the server to take our order and then another 45 minutes for our order of 2 sandwiches with fries to be delivered to our table. The only time the server would come by our table was when we called her over. After our food was finally delivered, we had to wait for silverware and condiments. The main problem was that we were seated under a television showing the baseball game, which was annoying because the place was dark and we had a tv flashing above us. It was very distracting. I don't understand why every restaurant needs a tv. If you want to watch the sports game, stay home or go to a sports bar. I don't remember what I ordered, but my food was alright. My boyfriend's food was not. He found it inedible and he's usually not that picky. I was expecting the place to look and feel a little bit more 'hip.' I've only been once, but I don't think I'll go again. It was ok, but there are better places to eat downtown. read more

Tellers is far and away the best hang out spot anyone young or trying to still be young. Geoff Pratt is the best bartender / server / host of all time. Their duck leg is awesome for dinners as well as the steak au poivre . for lunch French dip or pork wrap will make you feel like you had lunch in an chic restaurant in a big city. Ok, I am on the fence about this place. I was debated between 2 and 3 stars. I think 2.5 would be a perfect score, but it doesn't exist. Anyway, The bar is nicely appointed with a good selections of cocktails, and wine. The beer list could use some attention though. Especially if you like your beer on tap. Other downside include the space. This place is SMALL. If you have large group say 6-8 people they will most likely have issues sitting you all. Furthermore, they didn't seem to want our business that much. The barmaid was in a simple word terrible. I ended up moving my tab to the bar so that I could get some more prompt service. I'm reviewing the bar, not the restaurant. The food is pretty good, but I don't go there to dine. For a fast paced cocktail bar, this place is incredible. Dan and Jeoff are the best bartending team I've seen in action. They're always excited to be where they're at, serving the drinks that are being ordered, even if it's not a top shelf, craft cocktail. Deb is a sweetheart, and always makes you feel at home when you're at her bar. When I've closed down the bar I work at, I always head to Teller's. Tip: Go on a Monday night if you work in the service industry. Everyone else will be there getting drinks, and it's always a good time! read more

Ehhh. Mediocre food and poor service, however, it's probably one of the better locations to "people watch" downtown which is why I'm giving it three stars. Our group ordered a variety of items: tator tots, curly fries, onion & green pepper rings, and my entree was the Andouille sausage and mushroom flatbread pizza. The tator tots, curly fries and onion/pepper rings came out before our entrees, maybe 20 minutes after we ordered with one small plate for a group of 4. They were all fried and as good as expected for any fried food. Our waitress literally disappeared after that. Upon her return with our entrees, that is the only other time we were graced with her presence. My pizza was much smaller than I expected but good. We all left with lots of food still on our plates. The place was crowded so we had high expectations. When ordering, I asked for our wings to be cooked super crispy, our waiter told us that's how the restaurant serves them. They were so not crispy that I actually checked to make sure there wasn't pink still in the meat. I also ordered the arugula salad. The dressing that came with it tasted like straight vinegar. The waiter remade it and brought it with a side of balsamic vinaigrette. How can you mess up that right? It had very little flavor and was more oily, couldn't eat that either. The beer was nice and cold! We ordered the Reuben sandwich to go for my daughter. She said it was very good! So two positives for what was a disappointing dinner for us. read more

I am from Austin and this is my first time in Colombia. I'm impressed with the selection of restaurants and so glad I chose this one. Incapable of handling crowds. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Called ahead tonight to ask what the wait was for 4 people. We were told 10 minutes. When we arrived 5 minutes later we were put on a waiting list and told 30 minutes for a table. After 50 minutes waiting at the bar, we noticed that the people who came in after us (table of 4) were given a table ahead of us. I questioned the "hostess" at that point and it was quite clear from the scratch off on her wait list that she had intentionally skipped us and given the table to another party (most likely because she knew them). What a shit show. We left at this point. It's a good thing many of these establishments are in a college town where there are limited choices; if they were in major metropolitan markets and they treated people this way, they'd be out of business. My son has celiac disease, which means he cannot eat wheat or he will get extremely sick. I called Tellers to double check that their wings advertised on their website were gluten-free. The woman told me yes. When calling back to place my order I wanted to triple check that they would be gluten-free by asking if they fry them in the same fryer as other things. He told me they were fried in the same fryer as everything else, this means nothing can be gluten-free. This is a health hazard for many people, it should not be advertised that they are truly gluten-free. read more

The French dip was on a tasty roll, had plenty of beef, grilled onions, and cheese. All day Mon, they have $4.00 martini which included fresh mulled herbs that was superb. A Glass was broken near our table by a staff member and the motivated but sub diligent crew quickly swept and mopped over our feet and ankles. Kylie did all she could to combat 50+ min ticket times by being personable with our party, open and ready to offer suggestions and other information about the menu. She was able to effectively communicate throughout the entire situation and get the sub par food compensated for. We enjoyed the rest of our afternoon with lots of laughs and tipped her well. A good server, but the food operation has problems. I do not recommend this place. 2/3 empty, occupied are 4 2-tops, 3 4-tops, 4 servers at 530-700 pm on a Sunday. They have a very small menu, which is perfectly fine, preferable, even, bc the chef is focused on doing their best for those few items, controls cost, and makes inventory easy. Not here. They're out of a basic item used in a dish, so no can order the dish. They serve 1 Pinot Noir and it's among the worst (and, no, it's not inexpensive). 30 mins to get an appetizer and it was over done. read more

Teller's is a frequent visit for me and many of my friends that know quality food and drinks in Columbia. The bartenders are always on point - and have been for years. The service is super friendly and prompt, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food is well prepared and always delicious. The options on the menu range from unique to standard, which helps people with food-swings. They are also on many different programs for discounts and cash backs (7% back on yelp, IHG bonus points, etc), and run different happy hour specials. Highly recommend The Traditional Teller or the Blackened Salmon served on Creole salad - you won't be disappointed, trust me. read more

Never went there for lunch, as I wasn't strong enough to not drink, but the dinners were always enjoyable. I would actually like to give this place 4 1/2 stars! With such a relaxed atmosphere (They change the artwork from local artisans every week), the ambiance is perfect for an informal date (where you would want to spend 8-10 dollars on a plate), and a great place to take friends and family. Small building, but when I walked in with 15 friends, they were more than accommodating, seating us rather quickly. Now to the food: I'm a vegetarian, and found an abundance of options, including their veggie burgers, black bean quesadilla and my favorite: grilled portobello mushroom on fresh ciabatta bread with goat cheese. MMMMM. also either option comes with a side of homemade sweet potato chips or sauteed veggies. Their menu is pleasantly diverse, that even my steak eating brother truly enjoyed this meal. Also, lovely location, in the heart of downtown Columbia. The food is worth the price, not to mention they have a lovely cocktail menu. Shall i recommend their cosmopolitan? read more

I have lived in Columbia for three years and this was probably one of my favorite places to eat out. It's hard for me to find food options sometimes with being a vegetarian but here I had a broad selection and actually had trouble deciding what to order. They also have one of the best martini menus I've seen. I recommend trying the purple unicorn. Although I'm planning on going back and trying all eventually. The service was also prompt and polite. Everything was brought out in proper time and not only was the good nicely arranged for showmanship it also tasted amazing. I had my friend who normally hates mushrooms try the portobella and she's thinking about ordering the next time. The pricing wasn't too bad for the food either. I had been expecting it to be more expensive but it was actually very fair pricing for the quality you get. read more
