This was an excellent experience, we were helped by Tara who did an amazing job while we were dining here. Always right on time for refills and then on top of great service the food was amazing, I got the chicken slider special which had amazingly tender chicken and the sauce on it complimented that. My friend had your pulled pork quesadilla which was really good, sauce on chicken is superb and it contains pineapple which is just the acid to cut through the sweetness of the sauce, mixes very well! Got two desserts to split, the chocolate mousse which is very thick and absolutely decadent and then the bread pudding which was warm and inviting. All together this is probably one of the best experiences I have had in town. Will be back soon! read more

I love Teller's! When I lived in Columbia, I'd come here decently often with girlfriends for a classy drink and appetizers. Great dinner menu, awesome bread pudding with yummy maple bourbon sauce. Not exaggerating at all when I say this, but best bread pudding I've ever had still to this day. I was in town this weekend for an art show and got to experience their brunch for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the blueberry pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon. My fiancé got The breakfast burrito which had scrambled eggs, bacon, tater tot's, pepper jack cheese, scallions, and normally black beans but he didn't get those. The wrap looked amazing and he thought it was fantastic! I also enjoyed a Mimosa this morning and it was very well-made. Great ratio of champagne to orange juice, heavier on the champagne. ;) We came at a great time today too because even though it was mom's weekend at Mizzou we were able to get right in which was awesome! I just always have great service here! Awesome waiters and waitresses, great menu! They have amazing martinis as well. Try the cucumber Martini, it's very refreshing! read more

I liked this place. The service was excellent, and the food was great. I got the calamari for an app. The only disappointment was my colleagues kept eating them too. I clearly said calamari, solo. Whatever, sharing is caring. I got the bacon wrapped filet for the main course. It was amazing. I ate every bite. I will most certainly go back. We came to the restaurant after 9p for some food after Roots N Blues looking forward something other than a burger or a taco. We realized it was late but the server didn't mention anything about it. We ordered some calamari, a rueben, a flat bread and some French onion soups. Frankly they should have been embarrassed to bring out the plate of calamari. It was cooked to a crisp and inedible! Sweet potato chips came with my sandwich and they were terrible as well. The flat bread that came was a kid size one. The only redeeming part of this meal was the French onion soup. I asked for a tea and they didn't even acknowledged the request. Overall it was not a good meal at all. If they didn't want to serve a meal they should have just said so. read more

First time visiting Columbia, MO. We stopped in for drinks and enjoyed the Monday martinis. The local beers were scrumptious per hubs. Shiphead Ginger was his favorite. Jacob was the hostess and also our server. He was awesome!! The spinach salad was delicious and Jacob recommended the creole salad with blackened chicken. What an incredible combo! The food was alright, nothing impressive. The restaurant itself was pretty dirty looking, especially the ceiling fans. It's also discomforting to watch the cooks in the kitchen without hair nets for their heads or facial hair. They gave generous wine pour, which was awesome! read more

Went here tonight with the wife and the father-in-law and boy did it surprise. I've walked by Teller's countless time and never taken the chance to stop in and give it a shot because of all of the other downtown places we frequent. From the looks on the outside to what you can see just behind the windows this bar and gallery has a big secret: their food is freaking great! The overall dining experience was splendid. The waitress was great and she came back and checked on us the perfect amount of times. Let me admit that their menu is a bit bothersome to me, mainly because there are too many options that sound delicious and I only have one stomach. However, the calamari is a wonderful start to the dining experience. I had the brine soaked 12 ounce patch work pork chop that was awesome (more to come on this later), my wife had the Caesar chicken wrap that looked great, and the father-in- law had the ribeye steak. I can't speak to the taste and texture of the other meals but the pork chop was to die for. The brine soaked chop had great flavor throughout and was so tender. The sides were mashed sweet potatoes and pan seared broccoli was great as well. Overall the bar and gallery offers a unique atmosphere with fantastic food that is now a going to be a regular in our rotation. read more

I have been to Teller's a handful of times. Most of them were back when I was in school. Most recently I came here for a graduation dinner. The service was great but Teller's as a whole kind of lacks identity. Like most things in Columbia, they want to have fancy food but can't resist that college bar crowd. So what do you do? Serve cheap food, serve expensive food, and serve a bunch of cheap alcohol options with tons of drink specials. And don't forget the divey-bathrooms! I got the duck salad which was okay but I don't don't if i'd get it again. The service was great but overall I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking to go somewhere nice for dinner. Stopped in because we were hungry and we walked past it. We ordered a salad and a couple appetizers; it was too hot for anything heavier. Our drinks came quickly, but the food took a little longer than expected. But, WOW, it was excellent! My salad was fresh and the balsamic vinaigrette was the best I have ever had. The chicken strips were HUGE and the sauce was incredible! The sweet potato chips were sweet, crunchy, but still a bit soft....perfect. Highly recommend! I'd really been lookin forward to trying Teller's! It's in such a great spot and always seems busy when we walk by, so my boyfriend and I headed there for dinner. Our waitress dropped off water while we looked at drinks, then took our drink order. She came back to ask for our drink order again, then remembered she'd already put it in; no problem, happens to the best of us. She returns a third time to ask what my order was, so I guess she hadn't put in the order, but hey, no big deal. We're having a good time and don't mind the long waits in between these little check-ins. The waitress seems surprised when we mention we'd like to order food, but takes the order and immediately turns to greet a new table. That's when I knew we were leaving hungry. My boyfriend's a lot more charitable; he bet she'd missed the appetizer but was confident we'd get entrees. He was further encouraged when she came back to ask again what I had ordered, but forty-five minutes later all of her more recent tables had food and we hadn't seen her in a while. We waited a little longer, then gave up and went to the bar. They checked, confirmed our food order had never been put in, and comped our two beers, which was nice. Hopefully our waitress was just having a really off night, but it was pretty disappointing. I guess we still want to try Teller's, but maybe we'll just sit at the bar. read more

Ate here on a Thursday night while in town for a sporting event. Everything was awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We had drinks, an appetizer, salad and dinner. The dinner specials were a sesame crusted salmon and a pork chop; we also got the spinach and Caesar salad- all amazing. The service was also really great! Been interested in checking this place out as it always looks full on passing. We got the italian salad, blackened salmon and the mediterranean pasta. the salmon plate was tiny! We expected a fuller plate with those prices. There was a lot of salt missing from the salmon dish. My pasta was a bit bigger but nothing special. The italian salad would have been great but the lettuce wasn't fully cut. And I mean really large pieces, like as if the lettuce leaf was cut in half once from the middle. It was brought on a flat plate and just trying to cut the lettuce down, half the salad would spill over onto the table. Also the floors were a bit dirty. So happy my daughter and I stopped in her for lunch on Friday. The waitress sat us at a table in the front corner window with a great view of people walking by. Everything we ordered was fresh and nicely seasoned. I had the potato/salmon soup and it was outstanding- even my daughter liked dipping her tater tots (also perfectly cooked) in the soup. I had the blackened salmon on Cajun salad and it was also really good. Salmon was probably the best cooked I've had at a restaurant- perfectly fine. The spinach salad with buttermilk Parmesan dressing was very delicious. Definitely something to order again! The chicken sandwich was good, and was improved by dipping into the buttermilk Parmesan dressing. The mixed greens salad was tasty. Love the Gorgonzola with fruit. However, I thought the grapes were a bit too sweet to fit in. I was surprised that I was also given the sweet potato chips when ordering the combo. Had a late lunch / early dinner at Teller's after the Mizzou football victory over Florida this past weekend. Great food and great service. I had a bleu burger (don't recall the exact name) -- it was outstanding. I think it was $7.50 -- I substituted tator tots instead of sweet potato chips, but my daughter got the chips and said they were great. As an appetizer we ordered hot wings -- they were perfect. Also, they had some good beer on tap -- I had a Schalfly APA -- very good. I'll definitely be back. read more

Bird's Eye Burger - the meat was good, but the egg was overcooked and the bread was very dry. Chicken and Waffles - the breading on the chicken was flavorful, but the chicken was overcooked and well past the "golden brown" stage. The bleu cheese cream sauce was good. However, the butter served to spread on the waffles was cold (and so, hard) and the syrup was cold. Two faux pas. The ambience is pretty good, but the wait was very long. Delicious--their food is delicious! Everything we've ever eaten there is wonderful (right now I'm in love with their blackened salmon/ceaser salad). The servers are always so nice and friendly! We go with the kids for lunch, and when they order fruit it comes cut up all "fancy" on the plate :) We go kid-less for evening date nights for the great people-watching location. And I've been with my friends during the day for lunch/drink at the bar--had the nicest bartender! I know I'm gushing, but I can't say enough about this restaurant. Again, the best part is that the food has been consistently delicious each time we go, and we've been a LOT! Def top on our list of favorite restaurants in Columbia. Good job Tellers! read more

I was disappointed by the service, to say the least! While the staff filled our water glasses repeatedly, it took almost 40 minutes for the food to come out! When we asked our waitress if the food would be ready soon, she replied "a well done steak takes 30 minutes to cook. Your group ordered a steak salad, well done! That takes 30 minutes." I was lucky enough to spend New Years Eve at Tellers with my mother and let me tell you, boy am I glad we did. Having to come back into town for work, I had no plans for the evening and got off of work quite late. My mom made a reservation for 9:15, but we arrived early (round 9) and were seated immediately. Impressive, seeing as how the restaurant was in no way slow. We were seated by the window overlooking 9th which was a great view to people-watch from (a fun thing to do on New Years Eve). Now onto the real reason you're reading this: the food. We started off with the crostini: delicious pieces of toasted French bread with a Parmesan-and-garlic spread over-top (think garlic bread but way better). It came with delicious red pepper spread, fresh (thats right, fresh and made in-house) pesto, fresh goats cheese, some olives and cherry tomatoes. The pesto, which was my favorite part of the appetizer, was gone quickly, the rest of the toppings soon after it. With almost with perfect timing, our meal followed. Because we came late, the restaurant was out of the two dishes that my mother and I were planning on ordering, which I normally would complain about but our backups were so delicious it didn't even matter. I ordered a curry soba noodle dish with shrimp, my mother the steak. While I cant say much about my moms dish, mine was excellent. A extremely generous portion of noodles, served with shiitake mushrooms, broccoli and other vegetables I'm having trouble remembering, satued in a creamy curry sauce that reminded me more of an Alfredo than a curry (the texture more than the flavor). It was nonetheless great, although I did have a hard time finishing the entire dish due to its enormity. The night was finished with a complementary champaign toast, which was unexpected, but warmly received by everyone in the restaurant. My thanks go out to the owner (Deb?) who kept running back to our table to ensure everything was going well. I suggest everyone try Tellers, if the food isn't that impressive to you I guarantee the service will be. I've been to a lot of restaurants in Columbia, but had the best service at Tellers. I will be back, that's for sure. read more
