As for teachers, i will name the best teachers I know. Mrs. Parada , Ms. Morimoto, Ms. Hareston and Mrs. Duran.. these are the teachers I've had the pleasure of dealing with.. when your child likes coming to class, is excited to share what they learned and is motivated that means the teacher is great! Parent -teacher communication is so important and with them it was always immediate, if I had a question or concern i always got a quick response. As for bad teachers, I will not blast them by saying there name but I can tell you that my 5th graders teacher.. not so good. I'd call and leave a msg and didn't get a call back, I'd send a note no response but would communicate issues that didn't involve my child when asked to confirm the facts I was told.. "I wasn't their but I'll definitely looked further into it " and never heard back.. my child began getting behind in math and approval for tutoring would be requested once it was approved I'd be informed.. it was approved but it was never enforced by the teacher.. it would of been nice to get a call and be told.. sorry I'm no longer able too.. the teacher was kind I won't take that away just wish this teacher would of cared more.. I'm a parent that is very involved and thank goodness I got a tutor during the summer for her.. otherwise my kid would be so lost.

Her teacher also takes no action when others have hurt her and says she did it to herself. Also, I was in line starting at 7:00 am for graduation, and it's unfair that just because Marisela is a teacher there her family didn't have to wait in line. Everyone should, in my opinion, be treated fairly and get in line just like everyone else.

But that was almost like three decade ago so I'm pretty sure things changed since then. Like any school, the experience here will vary based on some preference. They have a decent size play area toward the back with jungle gym for kids, basketball court and grass area too. The parking here is all street parking but it's usually not bad. I have a couple of friends who also used to go to this school as well and some didn't like it. My wife and I like to walk around the school during the daytime or evening but never when it's pitch black due to safety concern. You just have to watch out for dog droppings here because some people don't pick it up when they are walking their dog.

They are usually a mix class and when they have a Christmas recital or a class dance they are put with there class obviously which is okay but , my kid is in 4th grade class and was put with the regular 4th grade class which is okay but they don't include them ! In the Christmas recital and international dance they where put in the back corner and if the class/ group has a coordinated shirt or dress code they do not include them and they look excluded which is not fair and not OKAY FOR THEM TO DO ! THEY SHOULD BE INCLUDED AND TREATED WITH THE REST OF THE CLASS!!

The school is only worried about compliance and test scores. Which is shocking since many students STILL cannot read. On numerous occasions I've heard staff yelling at students. They are unable to work with special needs kids and hardly anyone there is qualified to work with special needs even though they state otherwise. Simple research will show they are not being honest. They don't even have enough staff to operate their classrooms. They are extremely unorganized and the classrooms are a disaster. I was a very active parent who always volunteered, donated, and supported the teachers. I was treated like a burden as well as my child. This school will set your child behind. They are plenty of top rated schools that would be safer. Lastly they do not have the gates secured so multiple children have walked out. I've watched kids talk about going to the 7-11 and the staff watching the gate will let them go. I told the school since this is a massive safety issue and they did not care.

What I have appreciated the most from this school, is that they don't tolerate bullying. I admire and appreciate this. Waging peace. I have reassurance that every student matters to the school. How beautiful! Also, my daughter is the happiest she's ever been and I thank you Saint Gen for giving her the tranquility and the feeling of belonging we longed for. This school is unique. Very impressed, parents its a family effort, so if you are willing to support your child with the homework, that is fantastic, if not daycare has your back for daily HW. I am looking forward to culturing my childs growth with St. Genevieve.
