Liggett Street Elementary School - Cat injured and locked underground

    Liggett Street Elementary School

NO CATS ARE BEING HARMED OR TRAPPED AT LIGGETT ST ELEMENTARY…read more This story is full of misinformation and false accusations. No cats are trapped inside the school and no cats are being abused by staff. There is a large number of feral cats on the campus. There is one building that the cats were going underneath that access had been blocked. That building is used by the school's youngest students who are also developmentally disabled. The cats have urinated and defecated all over these student's playground equipment. The school has instructed the students to not approach the cats and will not tolerate any abuse of these animals. The principal's main priority is the safety of the students. There are tin cans of cat food being slid under the fence of the school directly onto the developmentally disabled children's playground, which is a major safety concern, and the staff are removing the cans immediately when found. The barriers preventing access to underneath the building(s) that were destroyed by misinformed vandals were replaced with reinforced material that would be extremely difficult to remove, and cameras installed to monitor the access points. No cats are trapped under any buildings, and the school, like the people posting here just want the cats removed. Removing the cats and immediately releasing them into to the surrounding neighborhood is not a solution, as the cats will just come back. These feral cats and the students of the school cannot coexist on the campus as it is an obvious safety issue. The school and the district hiring a private firm to remove the cats and bring them to an animal shelter is the only viable solution. No one is harming the animals at the school and the photo of the injured cat, which is a sad and horrible image isn't proof of any wrongdoing by anyone working at the school. Someone living by the school has stated they will be photographing and videotaping the school all day "to monitor the situation" An adult taking video and photos of young children at school is extremely troublesome, even if they claim its being done out of concern for the cats. The bottom-line is, there are no cats trapped at the school under any buildings and no cats are being harmed by staff. but the school is not a cat sanctuary, and these cats must be removed for the safety of the students.

About 20 years ago my wife and I decided to enroll our 1st child in a private Christian school. We…read moredidn't know it at the time but if was one of the best decisions we've ever made made. Our daughter in now in her last semester of her Masters Degree and we're extremely thankful of the investment we decided to make 20 years go and continue to make to this day. Our son is now a junior at Heritage Christian School and has three semesters until he graduates high school. We're getting close to saying goodbye to our tuition payments but we'll continue to invest our time and monies into this school because we've seen the hearts and dedication of the staff members (teachers, coaches, facility & administration) day in and day out. Heritage isn't a perfect school that's why I gave it a 4 star review. Every person, family, organization and company can always improve. If we're not improving then we're either being stagnant or backsliding. So, yes Heritage can improve and there's room for growth. As I look back over the years they've improved in several areas; teaching, facilities, honors, AP classes, athletics, robotics, computer science. HCS has definitely improved, become competitive and is now thriving in those areas as well as others. Every staff member has a different story and "they" just like "we" are uniquely made. Both my wife and I are so thankful for all the staff members love for Christ. Don't get us wrong there are some (teachers/staff members) that our kids weren't to fond of, but that's life. There's never going to be a place where (they or we) are going to connect with everyone. HCS is a place where you can be confident that your kids will be loved, nurtured, safe, challenged and given the chance to grow and thrive in their academics and their relationship with Christ. *HCS is having an (open house/campus preview) on Sat. 2/8/19 from (10am - 1pm). Come check it out!!

I have so much to say about this school that I don't think that it will even be enough to say how…read moreun organized and kinda bad this school is. the teachers are christian which they are required to be and I do like how my kid always said the chapels are good but the teachers need to be more open to letting the kids speak. my kid has had some instances where he got in trouble for the wrong reason and wasn't allowed to tell her. this school is so un organized with homework being due and when festivals and stuff like that are. One thing that you also need to watch out for are the people that they allow in this school. at this point, it's not even a christian school. my son says every time he walks passed anyone, he hears bad words. now I don't know what their parents allow them to say or do but I do know for a fact that a "christian school" should not be permitting their students to say cuss words. another thing you should think twice about are the feminine boys. Yes Feminine boys. again I know this school is "christian" and all but please watch out or think twice before you send your kid/kids here because my son claims that there are feminine boys that dress weirdly and other shyt like that. another thing is discipline. The discipline is so bad here. My son said that one day in science that someone stabbed a kid with a pen and only got detention. sad. also you need to watch out for substances. this part has gotten so bad to the point where kids were bringing vapes to school and security had to bring out the dogs. the kids who were caught with this vape and shot only got suspended. and unless you want your kid/kids to get into fights. then send em here. I am not proud with the way that they are running this shytty "christian school" --- John B.
