The school in my district isn't a good school at all. So I had no choice but to look elsewhere. When I came across Carlos Santana, I had to take advantage since they do take students on an application basis. So glad I chose this school! The teachers and staff here are amazing. They're very involved. And on top of communication. The principal is also another sweetheart. She's very helpful and genuinely wants the best for her students. They are very helpful with the parents in regard to providing communities resources for those in need. I do wish they had a PTA so parents can be much more involved. But they don't. That's the only thing I don't like. Other than that, school is great!

Plus the school has a brand new building, arts classes, and lots of resources. The teachers and staff have been amazing. The after school programs are free and that's my son's favorite time to play with his friends. . Carlos Santana Arts Academy now also has ETK/TK. That's FREE preschool for those of you who are new to LAUSD acronyms. Here is a message from the school about their program... Dual Language Immersion is a unique educational model where children learn to think, read, write and communicate naturally in two languages: English and Spanish. Native Spanish and native English speaking students study together, beginning in kindergarten through 5th grade to be biliterate in both languages. Let your neighbors and friends know of this opportunity! We still have a few spots left in our amazing ETK, TK and kinder Dual Language classes for the 2022-23 school year. Liggett Street Elementary School - Cat injured and locked underground

NO CATS ARE BEING HARMED OR TRAPPED AT LIGGETT ST ELEMENTARY…read more This story is full of misinformation and false accusations. No cats are trapped inside the school and no cats are being abused by staff. There is a large number of feral cats on the campus. There is one building that the cats were going underneath that access had been blocked. That building is used by the school's youngest students who are also developmentally disabled. The cats have urinated and defecated all over these student's playground equipment. The school has instructed the students to not approach the cats and will not tolerate any abuse of these animals. The principal's main priority is the safety of the students. There are tin cans of cat food being slid under the fence of the school directly onto the developmentally disabled children's playground, which is a major safety concern, and the staff are removing the cans immediately when found. The barriers preventing access to underneath the building(s) that were destroyed by misinformed vandals were replaced with reinforced material that would be extremely difficult to remove, and cameras installed to monitor the access points. No cats are trapped under any buildings, and the school, like the people posting here just want the cats removed. Removing the cats and immediately releasing them into to the surrounding neighborhood is not a solution, as the cats will just come back. These feral cats and the students of the school cannot coexist on the campus as it is an obvious safety issue. The school and the district hiring a private firm to remove the cats and bring them to an animal shelter is the only viable solution. No one is harming the animals at the school and the photo of the injured cat, which is a sad and horrible image isn't proof of any wrongdoing by anyone working at the school. Someone living by the school has stated they will be photographing and videotaping the school all day "to monitor the situation" An adult taking video and photos of young children at school is extremely troublesome, even if they claim its being done out of concern for the cats. The bottom-line is, there are no cats trapped at the school under any buildings and no cats are being harmed by staff. but the school is not a cat sanctuary, and these cats must be removed for the safety of the students.
