Updated review: 2024 The infant care is very good. The teachers at infant care are very kind and great at what they do. So if you have a kid 18 months and younger, youll get great teachers. Now for the cons. They have cancelled quite a bit because the lack of teachers. This week they cancelled a week because their teachers got sick. Which leads me to why I pulled my kid out of the school. When a week was cancelled, which is a huge inconvenience to working parents, I had a convo with Michele who is the director there. I suggested that they get back up teachers so that they can provide the services we pay for. There was no raising of voices or foul language. She disagreed saying that the environment wasnt safe and insinuated that I was putting my son in danger. She was dismissive and didnt care that she was making parents pay for extra care and didnt even offer anything or apologize. So i cut the convo off saying it wasnt productive and that our son was changing school next month anyways. She then emailed me and my wife informing that i was rude and that she would be kicking my son out of their school unless I wrote an apology. What a power trip. So we pulled him out because i didnt feel safe sending my kid to a place where the person in charge has this mindset. read more

I just absolutely love this school and the staff. It was a hard decision to transition her from Daycare (which we REALLY loved) to Preschool. However, my friend went to this school years ago and her daughter is currently enrolled so she invited me to an open house. I just love them. I have nothing but praise for them. Mrs McCorkle is a wonderful administrator and Alice is the best in the office. The teachers are so kind and gentle with the children and there are plenty of extracurricular activities after school such as; Soccer Shots, Dance, Gymnastics and Spanish. They have chapel and my daughter has learned to pray. We originally wanted to attend another Christian school in Canoga Park but I felt they were much too strict there. I feel like here they lead by example of being loving, gentle and kind and it was a much better fit for my daughter's personality and our own values. Speaking of values - as far as private schools go, I think this one is a great value. read more

VPS was great but since the principal retired it went downhill. VPS is far behind in terms of academics. I noticed this changes since my other kid went here from infant care up to 4th grade then unfortunately they closed down the grade school during the pandemic. I'm glad I transferred my preschooler to another school. Now my kid can write his name, numbers and the alphabet. He was far behind coming from VPS. My son learned more in the new school and he's been there for less than 2 months compare to 6 months from VPS. He comes home from new school telling us what he learned and now singing gospels. I don't remember him doing that coming home from VPS. read more

Highly recommend! My daughter went to the preschool from 3 - kindergarten and my son went from 4 months until TK. The staff are really caring and want the best for the kids. A few years ago, I was laid off and the school waived the fee for the dance classes that my daughter was enrolled in so that she wouldn't miss out. Their hours are accommodating for working parents and their rates are quite reasonable. My son just wrapped up his last day and we are really sad to leave. read more

My daughter has been going to VPS since she was in preschool and she LOVES it! The class sizes are small, which means they get plenty of individualized attention. They have a really convenient day care program and a lot of enrichment classes to choose from. If you are researching schools, definitely add this to your list of schools to tour. read more

**The following is a review of the Valley Presbyterian infant center (day care). We are very happy with VPS daycare! My daughter has been at VPS infant center for 6 months. She was placed in the Savior's Seedlings class of 12-18 month old infants. It is a fun and dynamic place for her to be. She has made friends and remained busy and stimulated throughout her days. When we pick her up we get a daily report card of what she did, how long she napped, how well she ate and even the frequency of her diaper changes. (MS Tonya -- the lead Savior's Seedlings teacher -- is well tuned into her kids.) Plenty of activities in a clean and colorful place to keep them happy and engaged. It is not cheap. But our daughter gets what we pay for. Therefore it's worth it. read more

Still happy with the school :) My daughter LOVES Tumblebees, Fox Kids dance class, Kindermusic class, and cooking with Ms. Jeannie. I am happy that she's getting a good workout, and that Ms. Jeannie is actually able to get her to try new foods. Their dance recital during the preschool Easter program was very cute. She likes going to preschool which makes my Mondays much easier. My son loves the theme or costume days at the elementary. The Mad Science afterschool program have encouraged him to have an interest in science. Were looking forward to this year's Olympic Day at school. His class will represent Scotland in school games. He's excited to join the football and basketball VPS leagues this year. GO EAGLES!!!! June/2013 My children have attended VPS preschool and the elementary for over five years now and we are very happy with the academics and Christian education. The teachers are caring, creative, and very nice. It is a good medium sized school with preschool/daycare through 6th grade on the same campus, great for working parents like me during drop off. It's odd to me that there aren't any reviews of the Infant Center that VPS offers....So here goes... I've had my two year old there since 4 months old, and while I absolutely feel comfortable with him at the center, I do wish there was more to offer my little guy. The center has a new director, McCorkle?, and we are hoping to see some big improvements and changes to the day to day operations. ****Updated 8/2014 We've now had two children at VPS. Our three year old truly enjoys the preschool and his teachers and the staff is wonderful about incorporating Christ into daily teachings. Director Chris McCorkle has done a great job of bring the school around full circle from when we started in 2011. A full slate of extra activities are offered such as soccer, tumbling, cooking, Spanish classes, Kindermusic and Tae Kwon Do. Our DS#1 has made great friends and we cherish them. I do wish that the school embraced the entire family a bit more. Maybe it's because we aren't Presbyterians, (one of the teachers said she didn't want to offend me by talking about Christ because we were Catholic and all... apparently she doesn't understand the whole Catholic/Protestant thing...) we often feel as if the school community is cliquish and the admin hand picks who to include in what. I feel they really miss the boat on taking advantage the relationships that parents have outside the school. We step up and volunteer for EVERY occasion while most parents do not and we still feel like outsiders. Oh well. What can ya do? Overall, VPS Preschool is a wonderful place to send little ones. The admin works with changing situations well and is very helpful to the working family. Don't let the shabby building and landscaping scare you away. The love inside is abundant and the building exudes warmth when you pull up to pick up your most cherished possessions, your kids. A hidden gem in North Hills West! read more

My kids (5 & 8) currently attend VPS and have been since they were 5 months old attending VPS preschool. We have had a great experience so far. My kids wake up on a Monday and look forward to going to school - that says a lot. The Staff & Teachers are wonderful, they all make an effort to know the kids from every class not just their own. They offer a variety of learning experiences and extra classes for fun after school like Mad Science & Soccer Shots. We also had a great experience at the preschool from infants thru pre-K. The staff cares about all of the kids not just the ones in their class. They have some wonderful teachers, and recently added some great new ones. During my last year with a kid at the preschool we were blessed with a new director. She brought to the school some wonderful new ideas and beautiful new murals. I wish we had more time with her but both of mine are on the Elementary side now. We love our teachers and their Aids. The office staff is amazing, as is Mrs. Moreland the Principle! The Daycare staff are so great the kids hate to leave at the end of the day! I have also made a lot of great friends in the parents at VPS ! read more

This school is such a blessing to our family! My son has never been happier , his 4th grade teacher Miss Hagar is amazing. She's the perfect combination of fun, outside the box thinker, nurturing and fully in control! She has an enormous amount of patience and empathy for these kiddos. Prayer and God being at center of not only every subject but every moment. From reminders on character to studying biblical principals, it's the real deal. I'm very impressed with this school and also the Principal, Claudia Moreland..I lovingly refer to her as the velvet hammer. Perfect. Combination of love and rules. We are honored to call this our kid's school. We also have 2nd grader who is thriving in Mrs Bresson 'S class. She's the sweetest person and she it's obvious she loves what she does. read more

We had our child(kindergarden) in another Christian based school. Our child was going through the motions there. I mentioned to my wife that the school reminded me of the Stepford Wives. Something wasnt quite right. We took her out and sent her to VPS where she has blossomed under the loving staff that has our little girl learning all subjects including all about God and the Lord, Jesus Christ. Our oldest went through VPS years ago and has turned great, we are hoping for a repeat with # 2 and plan to have our other 3 followin thier footsteps. read more

This school is simply amazing. My son was diagnosed with dyslexia and we were looking for a Christian school that would accommodate him. Their excel program is simply fantastic. My son is thriving at the school and is still able to be in a loving Christian environment. Most of the teachers have worked at the school for 20 plus years and simply love what they are doing. read more

We are so grateful for having our daughter graduated in VPS. She started in VPS Daycare when she was only 2 1/2" years old. VPS served as her 2nd home and family. We are so thankful for the principal, teachers and staff for providing a safe and godly environment while she was growing up. She was accepted to an academically super competitive middle school and yet she was able to cope up easily with all the challenges. We attributed all of her successes to VPS for exemplary training and discipline especially in the field of Writing, Reading and Math skills. We will always be grateful to our VPS family. My daughter loves her school, and we love her school. Great teachers, staff, and students. The principle is so kind.

This school has been fabulous for years. Both of my boys were in both the preschool and elementary school. My oldest son appreciated his education here all the way through college. In basic college English the first year most students struggled with grammar and sentence structures while the two kids that were classmates at Valley Pres School breezed right threw it, even the college English instructor was impressed by the foundation in English that stayed with them from elementary school. Valley Presbyterian School sets an educational foundation that will be used for the rest of their lives. read more

My son has been attending Valley Presbyterian School since KG. He is now in the 6th grade. I'm giving this school a high rating because of the support they've shown to my son. Principle Claudia Moreland has been absolutely wonderful. She has exhibited such a caring, godly, and supportive attitude to my 10 year old. As a single parent, I felt so alone in trying to raise my son within a Christian worldview. Thanks to Claudia Moreland and the staff at Valley, I don't feel so alone in this endeavor. All my son's teachers have been terrific. They all have exhibited their vocation as teachers more as a ministry rather than as a job. The various school events, field trips, and parent involvement opportunities are another major benefit this school provides. This place is truly a community of learning. read more

Our son has been enrolled at VPS since 2012 and we are THRILLED with his academic and spiritual growth since he has been at the school. All four of his teachers have been excellent educators who cared about grades, and just as importantly, his character development. We are extremely blessed to have this amazing school near our home, the Lord had such a plan for our daughter that we had moved literally around the corner when her former pre_k school closed a few years ago. She has been at VPS since kindergarten and the love that she receives from ALL the staff is abundant . She does not want to go home at end of the day! The teachers are womderful! She excells in every subject, parents are always involved in any event that the schools holds. My baby #2 soon will also attend VPS infant care side and I'm so comfortable and to have the piece of mind that she will be loved and cared for is priceless read more

I find the review by Paul H. to be ridiculous. Not only did my children attend VPS for 7 years but I worked there for 3 years. VPS is a wonderful school with wonderful teachers and staff. I personally know exactly the class Paul H is referring to and no curriculum was "dumbed down" in any grade. Paul H should do some research because most curriculum would have to be "dumbed down" for the "average " student not the autistic one. My children tested above average at VPS and continue to do so and that's because they were getting an excellent education by kind, caring Christian teachers. The teachers do attend different churches besides Valley Presbyterian Church. I know VPS teachers that go to Shepherd of the Hills, Christ Community Church and The Church at Rocky Peak to name a few and all of these churches are amazing Christian churches. I think Faith Baptist is a great school too but I don't agree with pushing a 4 year old to learn cursive writing and making girls wear skirts that touch the top of their feet. As far as Galpin Ford is concerned, the "Galpin" family has had children at VPS for many years and they drive many miles out of their way to bring their children to VPS. They could send their children to many other much more expensive and exclusive schools yet they choose to have their children at VPS. Doesn't that say anything? Oh and you could always ask Michael Reagan , son of Ronald Reagan about his feelings about VPS because he chose to send his children to VPS during Ronald Reagan's presidency. VPS has done a great job with making their campus fun and inviting for kids and has also upgraded their security systems to protect our children in an ever increasing dangerous world. Thank you VPS for instilling Christ centered values in my girls and giving my children not only an excellent education but a second family for life. read more
