The faculty of San Jose Street Elementary School does not care about the safety of their students,…read moreand my family and I are running out of options; We do not want to pull our nephew out of school, and have him repeat a grade for something out of his control because it wouldn't be fair for him, but he has been going to this school for more than a year, and he has been getting bullied ever since he started school. It has comes to the point where we have to ask our nephew if someone hurt him today because he always comes home telling us he got beaten, punch, and hurt at school, and the faculty would not do anything. The faculty keep telling us the bully "already went home or already got picked up", "A Good Child", and "we are keeping an eye on them", but they're clearly do not; My nephew was hurt, punched in the chest every single day this week, and he's been afraid of going to school. They also often do not bring anything to our attention regarding the bullying unless we inquire about it first, and the last time it happened they said, "It did happen yesterday", but they did not report it to us, so if you do care about the safety of your children, I would high recommend avoiding this school unless they make some changes. A lot more children will have to suffer and get hurt because someone lack the required means or conviction to do the job, and how could you even begin educating and inspiring children when you can't even secure their safety.

So the next year they put her with a- a new teacher that doesn't know what she's doing b- a class mixed with kinder n 1st grade REALLY! Doesn't make sense now she'll fell behind given kinder work not her grade level. Again nothing done! There are teachers who care here but maybe not enough. What happened to our school education? Each of their experiences has been different, but one thing has stayed consistent: their confidence has grown and they've learned how to advocate for themselves. I remember when my oldest started as a freshman. He was nervous and trying to figure out where he fit in. He's part of the LGBTQ community, and as a mom you hope your child will be accepted for who they are. At VAAS, he was. The diversity here is real, and you can feel it every day. He joined the dance team, got involved in theater, and eventually became president of several clubs. Watching him grow into a confident leader showed me how much this school was helping him develop as a person, not just as a student. My other two children were excited to attend after seeing his experience, and I've watched the same kind of growth happen with them. They all have different personalities and interests, but they've each learned to speak up for themselves and take ownership of their future. As a parent, that means everything. What makes VAAS special is the smaller environment and the relationships with teachers and staff. Students are known by name, and the teachers genuinely care. I've had teachers reach out not just about concerns, but to share progress and ideas for growth. It shows they're truly invested. Both of my children who graduated from VAAS have now graduated from college, one from UC Irvine and the other from the University of Hawaii, and my youngest has already been accepted into college. That tells me VAAS really prepared them for what came next. One of my favorite experiences as a parent has been Digital Portfolio Night, where students present their own work and reflect on their growth. Seeing that confidence firsthand is something special. VAAS is more than just a school. It's a supportive community that prepares students for life after high school, and I would absolutely recommend it to other families.

Our daughter in now in her last semester of her Masters Degree and we're extremely thankful of the investment we decided to make 20 years go and continue to make to this day. Our son is now a junior at Heritage Christian School and has three semesters until he graduates high school. We're getting close to saying goodbye to our tuition payments but we'll continue to invest our time and monies into this school because we've seen the hearts and dedication of the staff members (teachers, coaches, facility & administration) day in and day out. Heritage isn't a perfect school that's why I gave it a 4 star review. Every person, family, organization and company can always improve. If we're not improving then we're either being stagnant or backsliding. So, yes Heritage can improve and there's room for growth. As I look back over the years they've improved in several areas; teaching, facilities, honors, AP classes, athletics, robotics, computer science. HCS has definitely improved, become competitive and is now thriving in those areas as well as others. Every staff member has a different story and "they" just like "we" are uniquely made. Both my wife and I are so thankful for all the staff members love for Christ. Don't get us wrong there are some (teachers/staff members) that our kids weren't to fond of, but that's life. There's never going to be a place where (they or we) are going to connect with everyone. HCS is a place where you can be confident that your kids will be loved, nurtured, safe, challenged and given the chance to grow and thrive in their academics and their relationship with Christ. *HCS is having an (open house/campus preview) on Sat. 2/8/19 from (10am - 1pm). Come check it out!!

One thing that you also need to watch out for are the people that they allow in this school. at this point, it's not even a christian school. my son says every time he walks passed anyone, he hears bad words. now I don't know what their parents allow them to say or do but I do know for a fact that a "christian school" should not be permitting their students to say cuss words. another thing you should think twice about are the feminine boys. Yes Feminine boys. again I know this school is "christian" and all but please watch out or think twice before you send your kid/kids here because my son claims that there are feminine boys that dress weirdly and other shyt like that. another thing is discipline. The discipline is so bad here. My son said that one day in science that someone stabbed a kid with a pen and only got detention. sad. also you need to watch out for substances. this part has gotten so bad to the point where kids were bringing vapes to school and security had to bring out the dogs. the kids who were caught with this vape and shot only got suspended. and unless you want your kid/kids to get into fights. then send em here. I am not proud with the way that they are running this shytty "christian school" --- John B.

My own experience there was concerning; my son informed me that he had to pay for lunch, despite the school's previous claims that breakfast and lunch were provided at no cost. Additionally, I found the staff, particularly the principal, to be unprofessional and unkind. After reporting an incident, I felt that my concerns were dismissed, and I was subjected to disrespectful remarks about myself and my child. It is crucial for the school to improve its communication skills and address parental concerns more effectively. Overall, my experience was disappointing and distressing. Nothing can improve this school until that principle is fired

The transition has been nothing short of amazing--he's made friends quickly, and every single teacher and staff member has shown kindness, warmth, and genuine care. The leadership is inspiring. The principal (going on his third year) is passionate and present--you can tell he loves being here, and that energy shines throughout the school. The vice principals are equally supportive and approachable. What stands out most is how much pride everyone takes in this campus. From the teachers to the staff who care for the grounds, you can feel the love. The campus is always spotless, green, and beautiful--it honestly feels like stepping into a special place. I also deeply appreciate the school's inclusivity. From the posters on the walls to the environment in the classrooms, all students are represented and celebrated. My son feels safe, supported, and seen here, and as a parent, that means everything. Porter Middle School is more than a school--it's a community. I'm so grateful my family is part of it.
