This message is for ALL prospective parents!…read more I have heard about this school from my patients who's kids attended this school when the previous administration was in charge. This is a family run business and when Jackobson's were in charge, it was much different. They used to look and pick for truly bright kids to built a strong foundation. Now their daughter, Laurie Wolke, is in charge and it is all about money and connection. Upon applying, I truly believed in all fairness that this school is all about the "whole child" as they keep claiming it to be. But with all honesty, it is ALL about "connections": who you know, how much you donated PRIOR to your admission application. Let me explain to you how the admission process works: 1. You apply and you get interviewed by the ATHLETIC coach. He was a great enthusiastic man. I never had any school to have their athletic coach to interview the prospective parents. This was surprise to me. 2. They did kid's evaluation with group of kids. I thought this is a good practice to see how kids interact with each other. But apparently, this was a fake formality too. They (the owner and the administration) had no clue who your child is and what their potential or ability is. They did NOT care how bright and social your child is. They had already decided who to accept at that point. Unlike other top private schools, they do not do separate individual evaluation of your child. During kid's evaluation day, the owner, Laurie Wolke, approached a prospective parent and hugged him. Later, I found out that some prospective family members had been donating money and backscratching them for years prior to their application process. Some families knew exactly how many applicants they had and all the specifics that were not known to honest prospective parents. Then I found out, those connected family's kids got accepted. Talk about favoritism. 3. Then you get an email that your child is on "wait pool". Letting you know that they do not offer "wait pool" to everyone. Supposedly, you should feel excited that your bright child made it to the "wait pool". 4. What motivated me to apply to this school was their ability base group since my child had been reading and writing since he was 3 years old. My impression was that the administration does not care if your child is well-rounded, reads or writes, plays multiple musical instruments or speaks multiple languages. Obviously when applying you know the tuition is over $30K. So, money was not an issue for my family. We have only one child and invest all in him. I just never wanted to believe that you need connection and donation PRIOR to admission process. I always believed that good manners, hard work and intelligence is the way to fairness in this country. But these good qualities do not apply to this corrupt school. If you search, you will find other genuine ability based schools other than this one that claims to care for the "WHOLE CHILD". Bottom line, if you really truly want to be part of Laurence family, pull some connections and contribute money way ahead of time to get in. Don't be naive and believe in fairness when you are dealing with Ms. Wolke.

My child attended kindergarten through second grade until I decided to take her out of the program to relocate to another state. Upon our arrival back to Los Angeles, we wanted to re-enroll her. Keep in mind this was the same academic year in which all dues had been paid. Mr. Jacobsen wanted to charge me again for what had already been paid. It was a very low thing to do and enrolled at a better school.

Do you want your kids to suffer, do you want to deal with a level of incompetence you never thought…read morecould exist? Then STEM3 Academy is right for you and your child. The Administration here is not qualified to run a school, much less a special needs program. They always blame students for their mistakes and poor judgment. Some teachers here are absolutely terrible as well, they should not be involved with the education of children with special needs. However there are a few good apples with the bad here. The work that students receive here is also below grade level, and the education of students at this school is lacking. I truly believe this school could be a great place, but the help group once again drove another school into the ground.

They asked for a meeting and wanted my son and husband to sign the most ridiculous contract which my husband read and as a lawyer said no way would he sign that. Long story short we took him out of the school where he still had an IEP, which he has had since preschool. Well guess what they did. We have a lawyer now and she just told us the Help Group dis-enrolled him and that made his IEP go away!!!! They did not inform us they did this and we are beyond furious. Totally incompetent people and I lost all respect for the fools running the Stem3Academy!!!!

I had a rough time leaving this school since I was so attached to it my siblings still go here so I know that I will still be coming back every now and then. And the staff is even better I loved all my teachers and the way they thought us and made class fun. And of course I can't forget my favorite Mrs. Castro she was always there for me through my hard times. And a couple of wise people told me that "once a SPARTAN always a spartan" Thank you everyone!!!

Instead of working with my child, the approach felt more like labeling and blaming. There also seemed to be clear favoritism among students. Families who had closer relationships with the office, principal, or teachers appeared to receive different treatment, while others were held to a different standard. That kind of inconsistency is unfair and very concerning. In addition, the administration, including the principal and vice principal did not handle situations effectively when issues arose. Concerns were not addressed in a way that showed leadership or accountability. If your child is very quiet, does not speak up, and simply goes to and from school without raising any concerns, you may not have issues. However, if your child needs support, understanding, or advocacy, this may not be the right environment. Overall, I would never recommend this school! Don't be misled by appearances or what is presented upfront, our experience did not reflect that at all.

Enjoyed the easy communications with teachers and parents and close nit community, everyone knows one another. Unfortunately bullying is a huge issue here. Seemed like it was one thing after another. The last straw for me was when Ms. Matthew's ignored my sons plea for help after another student kicked him in the gut. She straight up told him she was "too busy to deal with the situation" and brushed him off. This matter wasn't even discussed again until I approached her myself. She apologized for her response and said she was overwhelmed at the moment and tried to excuse her actions. Sad to see from any supervisor. Next she called and said she spoke to the students parents and would handle it and couldn't discuss further details. My daughter was choked and attacked from a special Ed student they put in regular classes that is very disruptive, and in this case unsafe. Major complaints on getting order in classrooms with teachers who couldn't handle students behaviors and were unable to teach classes due to them, left in tears. This school does not suspend or have any meaningful consequences for bad behavior. Parents are left to find one another and try to deal with things outside of school. Completely negligent staff. Also my son was left with wet clothes all day long once instead of calling me to bring a change of clothes and was sick for days following. There were things I liked, like the language offer, but they became redundant when they never actually learned more than 20 mins 2 times a week. The test score were horrible and kids came home not knowing how to do their homeworks most of the time. It felt like I was ment to homeschool, but was left with little to no time in evenings between pick up, dinner, and bed. Kids were in school over 8 hours a day and learned close to nothing. 30 mins dedicated to HW after school but son wouldn't even have his packet with him half the time (begining of week and I'dhave to message school next day to make sure he got it), how did they not notice? Overall was exhausted with the drama and amount of work left on me to do so much of the teaching. Could be great if run better and less excuses.
