This parcel is far more than vacant land--it is part of the historic birthplace of Granada Hills. The remaining historic structures have been allowed to deteriorate over the years, and it is heartbreaking to watch such an important piece of our community's history continue to decline. This is also not the first time this property has been at the center of controversial development proposals. For decades, the community has raised concerns about projects that would intensify use of this site despite its location in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone and the surrounding evacuation challenges. Many residents believe these concerns deserve far more consideration than they have received. As a neighbor, I have found Heritage Christian School to be largely unresponsive to the community's longstanding concerns about the property's condition and future. Instead of working with residents to preserve this historic site and find a solution that benefits Granada Hills, the property continues to be marketed for increasingly intensive development. This land represents an important chapter in our community's history. It deserves thoughtful stewardship, preservation where possible, and a future that respects both public safety and the heritage of Granada Hills--not another proposal that divides the community. I hope Heritage Christian School reconsiders its approach and becomes a better partner to the neighborhood it has been part of for so many years.

My son just graduated last week and after 4 years of my son going here, here's my thought. My wife and I really liked this school and my son also really liked it. It isn't a big school by any means and of course it has its problems, no school is going to be perfect. If you get bad students, it's going to drag the school down....and bad students start at home, ladies and gentlemen. So parent up and stop leaving it up to the school to raise your kid. I attended every single mtg, every single semester. I'm a retired elementary teacher myself and am well aware of my Student w Disabilities' rights. They were denying these rights in actual practice on a day-to-day class-by-class basis. They crossed all their tees and dotted all their I s to get the money from the govt. $$$$$ Extra for STUDENTS W DISABILITIES paid. When I would inquire a various staff members including teachers counselors and vps over the four years I was given a run around and treated like I was intruding on, or asking too much of them. In 12th grade we had a horrific car accident in which we both were on doctor's orders recovering at home, for a week and a half. Although I had informed w doctors note w reason for extended absences, the female VP waited for revenge on my child and me, until a month before graduation. Btw I attended Birmingham's #1 rival Taft High School, in Woodland Hills, CA Class of 1980 when many of my friends attended Birmingham. From the first call I had with the admin in them explaining how the school worked, to welcoming us once we enrolled. The staff was fantastic. My son was in his senior year when we came to Options. He couldn't continue at his high school (Fairfax) due to a traumatic situation where he was hospitalized for 12 days. When he came home from the hospital, he wasn't his normal self until several months later. But throughout his last semester of senior year, his OFY teacher (Ms. Kathleen) and the staff was very helpful. They went above and beyond providing me with useful insights and resources to help me as a mother navigate this difficult time for our family. They also helped my son have the confidence to keep pushing through his school work at a pace that worked for him. They communicated effectively and kept me in the loop about his progress. When we needed to buckle down more to make sure he could walk for the graduation ceremony, they kept us well informed. This school was a real blessing to our family.
