Her name is Cynthia Braily. One of her grandchild is in the 3rd grade, and the other one in the 4th grade. The level of studies, academic wise is great. Recently, I attended a small 4th of July program that they have organized and I really enjoyed my time at this school. They have a nice area for the students to play, an auditorium, classes from Kindergarten until 6th grade. Clean classrooms, office, bathrooms, and kids just love their teachers. If I had a young child between the ages of 4 and 11, I would highly recommend and enroll them at this lovely school. They also have parking for teachers and parents..

I almost didn't graduate high school because of her. She gave me a hard time while other students were rude and nasty to her. I hope she doesn't teach there anymore because she might do the same to other kids. What an awful teacher! She would talked like a childish woman bringing her dolls in school. Horrible! I don't understand why all the bad, negative reviews?…read more I personally don't have any children attending this school, but one of my neighbors does. Both of her twins go to this Middle school and are about to graduate next year with honors. The exterior of the school is very ancient and historic looking. It has been around for over 80 years. There are plenty of parking spaces on the street and teachers along with administration have their own parking lot. Guests can also park there. I have attended a graduation here recently at Walter Reed, and was very impressed with the graduation. I also attended to three of their programs. The choir and the dance department needs improvement. Kids were out of tune and didn't have much talent in their dance moves nor in their vocals. I also have a friend whose son goes here. Their hallways are very wide, and the auditorium can easily fit like 75 to 80 people. They have bungalows to the side of the school. I have heard a lot of bad and good stories about this school. Students having sex in the bathrooms, using drugs. But then which school doesn't at their age?? Yes, the supervision by the teachers and administration along with their principal should be much tighter and strict. They have a lot of different programs, bulletins posted in their hallways. They also offer after school programs. When I was there, one of the bulletins stated that they needed a lot of school supplies. I packed a nice bag, full of supplies and donated them to this school with a note. Next morning the principal called and thanked me for it. I was touched by the gesture. Every story has 2 sides to it, and the cold hard truth. That's the 3rd side. Got up to use the restroom during the performance, and it was spotless clean along with their campus. Both my neighbor and my friend are very content/satisfied with this school and w/out any hesitation told me to tell everyone that it is a very good school. In every way. Just recently, another friend that I have that lives nearby, (so do I actually); just enrolled her granddaughter. So people, please stop talking about a school that you are not too familiar with. The reason for my 4 stars is because of their dance and choir department.. Will post few photos soon. Keep an eye on it.

This review is based on repeated, serious concerns about student safety and how administration…read moreresponds to them. My daughter has been involved in multiple incidents at this school, and the pattern is deeply concerning. Most recently, another student pulled a chair out from under her, causing her to fall. She was humiliated and could have been seriously injured. The consequence? Being benched during lunch and sent to another class. That response is completely inadequate given the seriousness of the incident. Last year, my daughter broke her hand at school. Her teacher failed to communicate her medical restrictions to the nurse, and I later received a call because my daughter was participating in activities she should not have been doing. That is a major breakdown in responsibility and communication. In another incident, the assistant principal allowed my daughter to be present during a conversation involving another student discussing harming himself or others. There was no regard for the emotional impact this could have on a child. I was left to deal with the aftermath at home. What is especially concerning is the leadership of the principal, Mr. Yau. Based on my experience, there is a clear lack of urgency, accountability, and empathy when serious safety concerns are raised. When I spoke to him while upset about my child's well-being, his tone came across as dismissive, and I did not feel heard or taken seriously. At this point, this is not about isolated incidents it reflects a broader issue with leadership and how student safety is prioritized. Parents should not have to fight this hard to ensure their child is safe. This situation needs to be taken seriously, and changes need to be made.

They have a decent size play area toward the back with jungle gym for kids, basketball court and grass area too. The parking here is all street parking but it's usually not bad. I have a couple of friends who also used to go to this school as well and some didn't like it. My wife and I like to walk around the school during the daytime or evening but never when it's pitch black due to safety concern. You just have to watch out for dog droppings here because some people don't pick it up when they are walking their dog.

We feel incredibly grateful to have been part of Emek Hebrew Academy for so many years. All four of…read moreour children attended Emek, and looking back, choosing this school was one of the best decisions we have ever made as parents. From the very beginning, Emek provided our children with a warm, nurturing, and structured environment where they felt safe, supported, and truly cared for. The teachers are not only knowledgeable and professional, but also deeply invested in each child's personal growth. They take the time to understand every student's strengths, challenges, and personality, and that individual attention makes a huge difference. Academically, our kids received a strong education that prepared them well for the next stages of their lives. The curriculum is thoughtful, challenging, and balanced, combining strong general studies with meaningful Jewish education. Our children learned how to think critically, work hard, and take pride in their achievements. At the same time, they were never just treated as "students," but as whole people. Socially and emotionally, Emek truly shines. Over the years, our children made real friendships that lasted beyond the classroom. They learned how to respect others, work as a team, handle responsibility, and develop confidence in themselves. The sense of community among students, families, and staff is something special and not easy to find. One of the things we value most is the strong foundation of values Emek instills. Our children learned kindness, respect, integrity, responsibility, and connection to their Jewish identity in a meaningful and positive way. These lessons were not just taught, but modeled daily by the faculty and administration. As parents, that gave us tremendous peace of mind. The administration is approachable, responsive, and genuinely cares about the families. Communication has always been clear, and we felt listened to whenever we had questions or concerns. You truly feel like a partner in your child's education rather than just another parent on a list. Watching all four of our children grow, mature, and thrive through their years at Emek has been incredibly rewarding. Each child had their own unique journey, yet all of them walked away with strong academics, lifelong friendships, and solid values that will guide them throughout their lives. We highly recommend Emek Hebrew Academy to any family looking for a school that combines excellent education, strong values, and a warm community. Emek didn't just educate our children -- it helped shape who they are today, and for that, we will always be thankful.
