Is there really anything better than a tried and true dish from a reliable food court eatery?…read more I love eating at food courts with my family as it gives us a chance to sample multiple dishes from different places and still eat together. This was one of those days. My daughter had a craving for ho-fun (stir-fired rice noodle dish), so we opted to sample their beef option. The noodles were beautifully fried with great wok-hei and the velveted beef sliced were tender and easy to eat. The usual addition of green onion, bean sprouts and eggs made for a satisfying addition to our lunch. Overall flavour of the ho-fun was spot on and my daughter was happy. :) We'll be back to sample more of their abundant offerings soon!

Tip: This store has many varieties of kimchi and ready-to-eat prepared meals…read more A recent Yelp event introduced me to Galleria Supermarket. After the event was over, I did some browsing around the supermarket before I left. It was my first time at any Galleria Supermarket. Think T&T Supermarket, but with Korean goods. I dig supermarkets and this one was cool. It's funny that I pass by the Galleria on Steeles Avenue West, just west of Yonge Street, every week after work. I've never gone in there, mainly because I'd have to do a left turn from Steeles Avenue West. When leaving this place, I'd need to do a left turn without a set of traffic lights. Otherwise, I'd have to do the around-the-block set of right turns. It's just seems so inconvenient. If I were heading westbound, I'd have better luck. I do like this Galleria. There was a lot of parking. I am also familiar with the area, with California Sandwiches around the corner. I saw massive tubs of kimchi. When you see so many varieties of kimchi and the vessels to have it ferment if you make your own, you know that you're in a good supermarket with everything that you need. I liked seeing travel utensil kits with chopsticks, spoons, and more. I got stuck in the housewares section, looking at plates, bowls, kettles, frying pans, rice cookers, and more. I love small appliances. It was so tough tearing myself out of this part of the store. I had a can of Sac Sac from the event. It had peeled grapes in it. It was so good that I know I'll return to this supermarket just for this product alone. So good! I frankly would like to live in this supermarket. It has heat-and-eat items. There's also a food court that I need to explore. It's a huge store! I loved everything that I saw. I'll be back to buy and be broke afterwards. (447)

Overall, the price is pretty good, we ordered two dishes for a total of $13 and they were LARGE portions. One of them is an old pork rice with hainanese chicken. The hainanese chicken was on a separate plate cause the rice with the meat filled up one of them. The old pork rice tastes like shredded pork. In addition, there was a cup of soy milk and a complimentary soup with it. This dish was REALLY good. The second portion was a massive bowl of noodles (the noodles were the size of Vietnamese bowls. In addition, they added a complimentary drink, which we got the Chinese Ice Tea with it. This dish was average. Overall, 68 Kitchen is a pretty inexpensive place to go, come visit here for large portioned meals for a lunch.

I ordered the peanut noodle soup set with spicy fish. The base for the soup was too bland for my liking and the peanut sauce settled down to the bottom of the bowl. Also, it was very heavy on the noodles with only two pieces of bokchoy and one soy sauce egg. There was not a lot of substance to the soup otherwise. My mom ordered Chow Mein with chicken and black bean sauce which was very tasty and not too oily. It was well balanced with a good portion of vegetable and meat to go with the noodles. My dad had a mushroom and beef stir fry which he enjoyed as well. The portion sizes are very generous. I also like that they do not put any sugar in their complimentary lemon ice tea. Good place overall for cheap eats.

That's until we met some of the miserable ladies behind the food counter at Super Khorak. I waited there for 30 minutes for my food. At one point, I turn and see the employee who took my order whispering in another one's ear while looking at me. I told my partner something was going on. I thought maybe they burned our food. Finally we went to the other end of the counter, realizing there was another pick up section. One of the employees asks for my number. I search my pockets and realize I've lost the receipt. I tell her. She rolls her eyes and storms off. Comes back and barks "what did you order?" I tell her. She says "I called your number 10 times." They knew it was our food! They saw us standing there for more than 30 minutes. What the heck? Then she goes over to some new lady behind the cash whispering while gawking at me. At this point I was at my wit's end. I go over there and say 'excuse me. Is there a problem.' New lady smiles and says "no, no problem at all." I finally get my food. But this whole experience made me lose my appetite and ruined what was up to that point an amazing day. Don't bother. Go next door to Super Arzan. Hopefully they won't ruin your day.

My haul consisted of their Sultan with Green Rice, Koobideh kabobs, Joojeh kabobs, ample heaps of polow rice and delicious Ghormeh Sabzi - considered the national dish of Iran dating back 5000 years. It elicits debates among chefs as to which herbs (tareh, parsley, scallion, cilantro, shanbalileh, etc.) and beans to include or exclude. Debates aside, it sure was tasty!
