All three of us have been taking Kung Fu, and my son who is 12 and I also take Kenpo Fighting Sticks. About a year ago Master Dave brought Krav Maga into the studio, and it is AWESOME. This is the Israeli combat/defense system taught to their army and defense forces. It's an unbelievable work out with lots of cardio, but very practical in terms of self defense. After the first lesson you'll walk away feeling more confident, and definitely like you've had a work out.

They offer a variety of martial arts, so you'll be able to find whatever you're looking for. Krav maga, kung fu for all ages and levels, shinkendo, "fight club", weapons training. I've taken many krav maga classes, one kung fu class, and many shinkendo classes. Their schedule is updated weekly and can be found online, so you'll always know what class is happening when. Master Dave (who I've had krav maga classes with) and Sensei Lynch (who I've had shinkendo with) are both incredibly respectable and respectful, friendly people and great teachers. Master Dave always explains the reasoning behind the movements you're learning and how they apply to a self-defense situation. Sensei Lynch offers LOADS of insightful history about samurai and Japanese swordsmanship. Both classes are a great work out. And even with all their experience and expertise, both teachers are still humble about it and love to see their students' progress. If you're interested I very much recommend taking one of their free classes to try it out and see how you like it. Unlike some places I've been to, you won't feel pressured about anything.
