The options started at about $1,000, with a second option around $2,000 and a top-tier option around $3,000. As I recall, the $3,000 proposal included replacing the toilet, while the first two were various levels of "repair." That seems like an awful lot of money for what turned out to be a bad wax ring damaged during a flooring install. I have since removed the toilet myself, replaced the wax ring, and everything is fine. No major repair was needed and certainly no $1,000-$3,000 solution. No wonder their address is on "profit dr." If this company isn't private equity-owned, they're sure doing a good impression of the private-equity playbook: upsell aggressively, present multiple expensive options, and turn a simple repair into a major sales opportunity. What a rip-off. Get a second opinion before agreeing to anything. Buyer beware.

We started smelling sewer gas in one of our bathrooms and figured we needed to have our toilet…read morereseated. We decided to look for recommendations in my neighborhood mom's group and follow up those by referencing Yelp reco's. Decided to call Speake's Plumbing and so glad we did! We called on a Thursday afternoon and left a message and received an immediate call back. They said someone could come out the following day. Speake's was excellent about communicating and we opted in to receive text messages. They let us know that someone would come by between 10-2 on Friday. And they did! Enter Mike on Friday afternoon around 1:30! We showed him our bathroom and he could smell the sewer gas too! We had kept the door closed to keep fumes down to the rest of the house. Also opened a window. After he removed the toilet and scraped off the wax he found the real problem. He came to show us what he discovered. There was a gap between where the flange and the drain pipe meet. Mike fixed the pipe and replaced the flange with a new beautiful brass one. This is the only pic I took. We love our Toto toilets and asked Mike to replace the insides with a new flush valve kit since the current one looked really old. He replaced the toilet and cleaned everything up. We paid and he sent our receipt via email. The price seemed in-line and we were very happy with Mike and the service he provided. We will definitely call Speake's Plumbing again if a plumbing issue arises.
