Close to my home, a little pricy but they have a 5% back on your order for 55 and older. They at one point offered coupons from a machine $8. Off entire order of over $80. Or $5. Off $65. That coupled with senior discount was terrific ! Deli has nice potato salad ect. Some of the cashiers are lovely others clueless re public. No greeting when customer approaches Checkout, chatting with peers no interaction with customer. The baggers are great friendly read more

There were never a lot of reasons to go to Ted's but It is close enough to me to, at times, look past the really high prices for most items. My other reason was that their bottle return was very handy, fast, and most importantly accepted many of the other stores empties. Well that all changed today, as it appears that their bottle return will now only accept what is bought at Ted's. So after I would return my empties, I ALWAYS took my payment slip in and bought things that I would not normally shop for there. I probably averaged 60 or 70 bucks a week buying their prepared dinners, deli meats, fish, beef and chicken. Most of which I bought due to the bottle return trips that I made. I know I'm not their biggest spending customer, but I also know for a fact that quite a few people have always done the same thing I have for years. She said nothing then grunted Then when my wife walks up says hello to her then never gave a total to me kept proceeding to speak to my wife Told her hope she enjoy the rest of her day and I asked her to please please my 2 items in a bag again ignored me and then asked my wife if she wanted the items in a bag. Ted's can be a little expensive, but it's the only close grocery store for folks that live in Hebron. One good buy for your buck is their fried chicken dinners (chicken, sides, and rolls). They just upgraded their card reader system recently which was a nice upgrade. read more

I really like Teds. Best fried chicken anywhere. Good prepared foods and deli salads. Small store, so selections somewhat limited in grocery items. Nice to see employment opportunities for area youth. I found employees friendly and helpful. One of the bag boys helping an older lady load her purchases into her trunk was nice to see. Too bad about C.F.'s bad experience, I find this area of eastern Connecticut quite friendly and accepting . I hope the cashier just had a bad day that somehow spilled over to him. Before giving up on the business, he might want to discuss incident with the store manager. After all, he lives in Amston, can't be much more than a 5 minute drive. However, being a 2nd generation Euro - American, I admittedly have no experience regarding these things. read more

had a bad experience with a cashier, name tag said megan. My mother asked if her register was open, and did not receive a reply the first time. She asked again and the cashier had replied with only a rude head shake and a gesture like we were automatically supposed to understand what she was saying. She then proceeded to pull down her mask to talk to the cashier across from her. Do not understand why she can't verbalize with customers, but has no problem communicating with her coworker two registers away. read more

Customer service overall is poor! Staff act like they are doing you a favor to be there! Even manager, his staff can do no wrong.. Don't waste your time bringing anything to his attention!!! Totally cute local grocery store in my BFF's town of Hebron CT. A little pricy but great selection of fresh stuff.

I've been shopping at TEDS for 30 years, its a great little neighborhood store. One thing I've noticed, however, is that Teds hires highly functioning disabled people who do not look or act as you would normally expect -- they just have their little "quirks." Once you've shopped there a while, and get to actually KNOW them, these employees are actually GREAT -- just try to be pleasant to them and understand that they are not being RUDE to you (or racist, good grief). People who don't normally shop there, or it's their first time in the store, are making incorrect snap judgments without knowing the whole picture. I know, because I'm guilty of doing that myself when I first met them. Go in there and try treating them as you would a disabled person working at Stop and Shop (which only hires disabled people that are "obviously disabled" so their customers will think S&S is so wonderful and caring. If an obviously disabled person at S&S was rude to you or ignored you, you wouldn't take it personally, would you?). You're not going to "instantly" recognize that they are even disabled (or what their disability is) -- but try being pleasant and friendly to them, smile, initiate conversation with a bright cheerful "hi, how are you doing today?" -- speak a little louder than you normally would so they can actually HEAR you (it's especially hard to hear you through through a mask, nowadays), give them the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming they are "ignoring" you or being "rude" to you -- and once you get to know them, you'll find they are friendly, hard working, dedicated employees and that Teds is actually doing a great community service by hiring the disabled. On another note, TEDS was there for our community during the global pandemic -- instantly masking up and requiring masks and offering gloves to their customers. I was terrified to go shopping during the early days when the pandemic first began, and Teds was the only store that helped me feel safe and comfortable and as "normal" as possible during this time -- I went in one day to buy meat and the meat counter was bare, which was really scary. A butcher noticed me standing there and came out immediately, reassured me and told me not to worry, a truck full was arriving at any minute and they would be fully stocked again. Words just can't express how safe and cared for Teds has made our community feel during this terrible time. It's not just me either, I've seen loads of people saying the same thing on Facebook -- our community will always be grateful to them for being there for us, and I will always prefer to do my shopping at Teds. read more

Expensive. Poor selection. Produce and meat seems to go bad the minute you get it home. Every time I have bought fish it's mushy. The only reason I stop here is it's on my way home and there isn't much else in the area. read more

Ted's is a great little locally-owned supermarket. The best grocery store to go to for fresh, good quality steaks and deli items. Everyone knows Ted's and probably someone who worked there at one point -- good presence in the community. If I'm buying groceries in town I try to go here rather than the Stop and Shop in Colchester. read more

Way over price, and theres nothing special about it that makes it worth it. Like Highland Market has such great options and even Big Y with their bakery and hot foods. This place has none of that, the deli people don't seem to understand how to slice correctly, and its SO expensive. But since its the only place in town, I often run by to grab just a gallon of milk and with limited options will likely continue to. read more

This is a good place to go to when I need last minute supplies for a meal I am making. It's a little more expensive than I like, so I wouldn't shop here on the regular. Even the sales aren't really anything special. I could go to another store and get a same product for a better deal. It's got a decent selection for the size of the store. It's the only major grocery store in town, so it's mostly convenient over anything when I do go here. read more

Very small store but albeit great. Prices can be a little high but their choices for meats and chicken are fantastic. They also have a quite decent deli and their prices aren't too bad there. It's a good place to if you need to pick something up but not necessarily the best place to go for your other items like paper towel and such, stick to the edges of the store and you're good. read more

Honestly, never buy anything other than milk here. Produce is always expired with mold. The premade salads (macaroni salad, egg salad, etc) are always spoiled. The staff is very rude and not helpful. read more
