They follow covid protocol and wear masks and gloves, social distancing signs on the floor, and have the clear dividers at check out. Customers are also required to wear masks in the store. It's kind of expensive but convenient for the weekend getaway. However, employees need to be trained in demeanor and customer service. I cannot remember a time when I was made so uncomfortable by staff of an establishment. We used the self checkout, and the screen prompt came up for us to wait for employee assistance. It took quite some time before a gentleman came over to assist us. When we looked around a man was staring us down as if we kicked his puppy. He was not wearing any type of uniform, or name tag to indicate he was an employee. He was an unpleasant individual and didn't say anything to us. Just performed his task, I said thank you and he responded with contempt disregard. Then again the screen asked to wait for assistance. (We use self checkout all the time, idk why this kept happening) this time an equally miserable and seemingly unhappy woman came and responded with a nasty look and no words. Even after saying thank you, she was a rock. Unmoved by our daily routine conversation and pleasantries. I pray that whatever was happening to them was rectified and they had a better weekend. The produce section is the best of most of the stores in the area (IMO) although sometimes things can be a bit expensive. I like that Big Y brings some different brands to our area. I've certainly found some things there that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. They have a great beer selection for a grocery store, I think they are associated with Table & Vine which means they have more local and small craft beers than your typical grocery store fare. Keep an eye on the sales for sure!
