Food prices are going up, but Tedeschi's convenience stores still feature the $2.99 per gallon of 1% milk. This is the main reason I go to this particular location - it's on my way home, and I like me a cheap glass 'o' lactose.
However, milk purchased from this store consistently goes bad way before the sell by date, never mind the expiration date. Imagine me, in the morning, a little groggy... pouring my iced coffee into my favorite monkey cup from Target (so adorable!). I grab the gallon of milk, slop some in, and stare confusedly at the cup.
Milk's supposed to mix in, not have floating white things.. right? Unless it's soy milk, but this isn't soy milk. It's from TD's.
I stick my finger in and smell it. Ewwwwwwwww!!! One monkey glass of iced coffee, ruined by milk that has a sell by date of this Friday, five days away.
This is the second or third time this has happened. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a convenient place to purchase one of life's necessities.
However, as GW Bush says, "Fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."
Well, I'm not really sure what he was saying, but I consider myself fooled twice, perhaps thrice. From now on I'll be stopping by the Tedeschi's on Cambridge St for my milk and snack fixes. I know they keep their refrigerators at regulation temperature. read more
