As other reviewers mentioned that the doctor is great, but the billing is a scam. They charged me a fee for a certain treatment saying that the insurance company would not cover it and I paid. I checked the insurance statement later and then the insurance company paid for it again. I checked with them and they admitted a mistake and said they would make a refund but never did. We are done with this place. I give 5 stars to Dr. Teddy who is a very skilled dentist and cares for his patients. (5/2 = 2.5 stars but I will round -up to 3) I give zero starts to the front desk and their billing person. Truly incompetent. Over the years, I gave them many chances. Each time I visit, there is an error. The dental hygienist didn't apply Fluoride to my kid's teeth but I am still billed $50. At the beginning of the appointment, I let them know that my insurance only pays for 1 Fluoride treatment per year and that this visit, there should be no treatment. Surprise, surprise. When I get my insurance statement of benefits, it states I owe $50 for Fluoride treatment. I spent about 3-4 hours of my time with the front desk to resolve the matter. The next visit, I told them NOT to apply any Fluoride to my son's teeth. I even monitor the hygienist to make sure it doesn't happen. When I get the insurance bill, it seems that my insurance paid them for Fluoride. I call them out on this and the only resolution the billing desk will make is that I have a $50 store credit to apply for future visits. My son had an issue with his teeth and I called the office and they said they will return my call after talking to Dr. Teddy. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! No return phone call. I truly am thankful for Dr. Teddy for these past years to take care of my kids' teeth. However, I am NOT coming back here because the front desk and billing sucks! I am so sick of the errors and the BS. Time to upgrade to my dentist who is also good with kids and open 7 days a week. Competent person working in billing and a front desk that always returns phone calls and picks up the phone. You can even text them and get an answer. read more

We have been taking our 2 daughters to Teddy Bear dental since our oldest was 6 years old. She is now 20 and still going to this dentist :). Both kids have had lots of cavities unfortunately and they needed extra visits and sealants for their teeth when they were younger to prevent more cavities. My oldest is a college student in northern CA and she recently noticed one of her teeth was brown and decaying. We made an appointment for her to see Dr. Kim on a Saturday morning when she flew home to visit and at the appointment he asked when she was going back to school. She was going to go back on Monday so he was kind enough to accommodate her schedule and fix the decay at the same visit. Dr. Kim and the staff have always been very kind. Our kids will probably keep coming here until they are forced to go to a dentist that specializes in adult teeth :D read more

Dr. Teddy and his staff are friendly and professional. My three year old girl never cries and loves coming to this place. There are play stations and game stations in the waiting room to keep them busy for the wait and when called upon they make sitting down in the big chair feel like a disneyland ride. Once settled they put on a cool sunglass to watch the TV that is placed in the ceiling. When done we get a coin to draw a toy (this is what my daughter loves the most about this place). We have been bringing our children here since they were 6 months old and now they are three and six. My kids absolutely love it here! They ask me all the time when it's time for their check up. Kids loving the dentist is usually unheard of but not here. The staff is amazing and friendly. My kids feel at ease with them and with doctor Teddy of course. My son has been seeing Dr Teddy for a little over 2 years. He is 4 so I was expecting more of an issue of taking him to the dentist but he actually likes to go. All of the staff is friendly and great with kids. The past 4-5 visits we've have Dawn do his cleaning and she is amazing; she is very patient and explanatory with my son. He won't cooperate on some things as he gets scared or gag (like on X-rays) however she won't rush him or push him too hard. I love this office, this is my first time coming to this location. My son has been a patient of Dr. Teddy at the Newport Beach location. I have never trusted anyone with my son. I get such anxiety but since my son has been with Dr Teddy it has been amazing and I feel so happy with is care. His team is amazing starting from where you come in until you check out. They are always so friendly and make you feel very welcomed. I appreciate being involved in my sons care and they know and understand how to deal with me. I don't feel judged if my son has a cavity. I am SO thrilled to have found Teddy Bear Dental and extremely grateful to Dr. Teddy and the wonderful ladies that work with him there! My 2 year old had some bad decay on her 2 front teeth and I had received a horrible estimate from another pediatric dentist that left me feeling sick. I immediately searched for a different dentist where I could get a 2nd opinion. I couldn't believe this first dentist who was also a mother could let me leave her office believing my young daughter needed root canals, suggesting I give her general anasthesia and asking for $1600 out of pocket. I left that office trembling and got in that same day with Dr. Teddy Kim for what turned out to be a sanity saving and merciful 2nd opinion. Dr. Teddy Kim is kind, gentle, and insightful. He could see right away that my little girl was cooperative and her cavities were accessible enough to not require general anasthesia or root canals. We left with an estimate that was a 4th of the cost of the other place and most importantly I felt safe and trusted the care Dr. Teddy was willing to try with my daughter. Today my daughter had her teeth worked on and they are perfect again! When she turns 3 in a few days her pictures will look amazing and the best part is because of Dr. Teddy and his caring staff she still enjoys going to play at the dentist!! read more

Terrible customer service. Will freely reschedule your appointment in favor of another patient that will yield them more money. Won't even make an effort to call to apologize or ask if it's ok to reschedule instead decides to text to inform me my appointment is cancelled. When I complained, they made up the excuse that the other patient was an emergency. What kind of emergency if they can inform me 3 days before my appointment? Ironically they would offer me an appointment early in the morning on the same day during school hours yet the emergency patient can wait for the afternoon after school hours? Why wouldn't the emergency patient take the earlier time if it is an emergency? Truth is if they made the effort to call me and kindly asked me to give up my appointment I would gladly reschedule. But I can't accept a text message 3 days before telling me I lost my appointment because they decided to give it to someone else that would generate them more revenue. read more

This is the worst Dental office ever!! I called looking for a local children's dentist that accepted my insurance and I called and verified if they were in network. I took my daughter there 3 times total and after almost 2 years of visits i got a bill for the out of network cost!! I called and was told that they were nto in network and the previous employee who no longer works there gave me the wrong information, and it has taken their office 2 years to catch her mistakes!! I was outraged and told them I would not pay a dime and I reported them to the Dental Board. I have since found another dental office with 8 of Teddy Bear Dental's previous patients. Dr. Teddy and the staff that were there when we were at the appointment were very nice. But since then they hired someone new in the front office. I can never get her name because she speaks so slowly while my kids are screaming that I can never get that out of her. She calls over and over again to confirm appointments even after they have been confirmed repeatedly on the week of the appointment. It has gotten to the point that it is like harassment. This last time (5 minutes ago) was the last straw. She called for a 24 hour confirmation while my daughter was screaming and was speaking so slowly that I couldn't handle it anymore. I ended up canceling the appointment and she said (very slowly) "weeelll......we really need 48 hours notice." If you need 48 hours notice, then call 48 hours before the appointment to confirm it. Don't call me when I am busy and waste my time and then blame me for not giving you enough notice. I am the last of my friends to continue with this place, the rest stopped going here due to the attitude. Also the last time I went (6 months ago) instead of letting me schedule the appointment when I was leaving, they told they would call to schedule the appointment. Instead they texted me that they made an appointment for me at a time I couldn't make it so I had to interact with this same woman again. This would be an easy fix for them to make. The office has a nice atmosphere for kids, but I have had an issue with their billing. My family has HMO, and I was referred there for my son's cavities. Everything is supposed to be covered (HMO right) but long story short, they charged us $300 for sealants for my son's teeth. We were told about the charge as my son was laying there in the dental chair under the influence of the nitrous oxide. I had checked my coverages prior to coming in and knew that the sealants were covered, but they insisted that the sealants were not covered and charged us the $300. To prove my point, I insisted that they bill my insurance for the sealants. Even though they received the payment from the insurance for the sealants($124), they have refused to reimburse me the $300 that I paid. It has been 11 months, and I still have not been reimbursed. When I called demanding the reimbursement, they told me that my insurance did not cover the followup exam that my son had three months later, so they would use some of the $300 to cover that visit. That visit had been authorized by my HMO plan prior to my visit because they insisted on having an authorization prior to making the appointment, so the fraudulent billing continues.............. Long story short, my son liked the place, but the office ripped me for $300 and then billed the insurance for the things I paid for and got another $124. Stay away.................. read more

Teddy Bear Dental is Awe-some! A great yelp find! Convenient, Friendly & Efficient Staff and my 2.5 year old loves it! Convenience: You can schedule appointments via text! Who does that? Freaking Awesome since sometimes being on the phone can be cumbersome since my toddler thinks that my phone is her competition and tries to one up all phone conversations. Friendly & Efficient: I never have to wait to get seen. They are pretty good at keeping to schedule. All 3 of my boys have been seeing Dr. Kim since they were infants. They are now ages 10, 9 and 4. They all love going to the dentist! Customer service from the front staff is also excellent. What we are most impressed with is how the staff is so attuned to our oldest son who has severe autism. He went from being deathly afraid at age 3 where he had to be held down for a simple check-up, to filling his cavities with novacaine shots at age 8.
